CHAPTER THREE
A dimension rift appeared and out stepped Yusuke, Kurama, Bijin, Kuwabara, Dante, and Hiei into the sister dimension where Akari and the twins lived.
The Rei Kai eyes widened at what they saw. Gone were the beautiful, multi-colored roses, the tress were burned, and road leading to Akari's home was littered with holes caused by explosions, and the sky was no longer blue nor was the sun shining. Dark, ominous clouds now reigned supreme.
"What happened? It looks like all hell broke loose." Kuwabara asked.
Bijin started to cry at what happened to their home, their world. She clutched her twin's arm. Dante looked at his sister and pulled her into his arms, stroking her hair and back.
"Shhh. It'll be okay, B. Mama will fix everything when we find her and then, things will be happy and peaceful again." He told her.
Bijin leaned back to look her brother in the eyes.
"Honto ne?" She asked.
"Honto ne." Dante replied while wiping away her tears.
Hiei watched the twins' interaction with great interest and a hint of sadness. He wished he and Yukina had the closeness that they possessed. The twins loved each other deeply that much was clear. Whoever their mother was, she was very lucky to have offspring such as Dante and Bijin.
'But, who is their mother?' Hiei asked himself as he looked back at the carnage before them.
"Let's get to the castle, quick." Yusuke said.
Everyone nodded in agreement and ran towards the castle that was also heavily damage from the outside.
***
Inside the crumbling walls that enclosed the town and the castle within, the Rei Kai and the twins couldn't believe what the saw.
The entire town was leveled to the ground, only the castle remained standing and it was in terrible shape.
Dante clenched his fists and his spirit energy began to rise along with his anger. He couldn't believe what those bastards did to their home. The home that their mother worked so hard to build and maintain like their grandparents and all the ones before them.
Yusuke and the others looked at Dante in awe when they felt and saw the powerful black aura his energy was giving off. Dante's eyes were glowing red with his anger.
Bijin looked at her brother and took his hand in hers and softly said his name.
Dante looked at his sister to see her smiling gently at him.
His anger faded as did the dark aura surrounding him. Bijin's smile was a lot like their mother's and it soothed him. Their mother's smiles were beautiful, calming, and she always showed them to her children. Even when they did something bad or were punished, she would hug them and smile softly. Her way of letting them know that she did this to make them better.
He returned his sister's smile and nodded.
"Arigato, B-chan." Dante told her. Bijin smiled and looked back at the castle along with her brother.
Hiei stared at Dante.
*His power is incredible! How could he be so strong? And why did his power feel so much like mine?* Hiei thought to himself.
Dante looked up at Hiei, feeling his gaze upon him. He stared at Hiei's ruby eyes. He looked exactly like him. Could Hiei be his and his sister's father? Dante shook his head, looked down at the ground and sighed.
He missed his father even though, he hadn't meet him. But, their mother told them all the stories about how strong and brave their father was, all the battles he fought, how he helped uncle Yusuke and his friends save the world, and all the tournaments he was in and won. He knew his father was alive out there somewhere. Their mother told them so. Their father was a hero and solider.
Most kids would resent a father being away so long, but not him and Bijin. Nor did their mother. When she spoke of their father, her voice was always filled with love. Dante was sure they father had heard about what happened to their home and their mother and was trying his best to make it back. But, until his father returned, Dante and Bijin knew they could depend on their uncle Yusuke and his friends.
He smiled at that thought, took his sister hand, and started for the castle with Yusuke and the other in tow.
***
The inside of the castle was a disaster. The place had been looted, the tapestries that adorned the walls were either burned or torn to shreds. The walls had giant holes in them, and all sorts of debris lined the floors.
"This place is a mess." Kuwabara said.
"It appears that our attackers didn't leave anything undamaged or stolen." Kurama said, looking around at the damage.
Hiei couldn't believe his eyes. He took off at run down the hallway.
"Hey, Hiei. Where are you going?" Kuwabara called out to him as Hiei turned to corner, he received no response from the forbidden child.
"What's up with him?" Kuwabara asked aloud.
Yusuke looked in the direction in which Hiei went. He knew where he was going.
Hiei slid to a stop before Akari's bedroom, which was became the queen's quarters after she was crowned.
What he saw shocked and angered him. The door was ripped of its hinges and laying on the inside beside the door. The room was in shambles. The furniture was completely destroyed, the curtains were shredded, the rug had burn marks and holes in it, but what really affected Hiei the most was the condition of the four poster canopy bed.
It was torn apart. The posts and frame were destroyed, the mattresses had long slash marks in them; the foam was pulled out, the feathered down pillows were ripped open and feathers scattered all over the bed.
Hiei walked up to what was left of the bed and picked up the torn bed sheet on the floor and smelled it. It still had Akari's faint scent in it.
It brought back tender memories of the time when Hiei and Akari spent very passionate and sweet nights in this room, this bed. Hiei wondered how much had changed since then. He knew that Akari was queen, but what else was different about her? He hadn't seen her since she came back here six years ago.
And what about the twins? Who is their mother? Akari? No, it couldn't be. Akari lost the baby she carried that was fathered by him. So, who? Is their a version of his mother on this world? No, that's not it either.
Hiei didn't know why, but he felt the twins were his responsibility to look after and protect until Akari was found. Why did he feel this way he didn't know.
Hiei was so deep in his musings that he didn't hear or see Yusuke when he walked into the room. Yusuke's voice snapped him out of it.
"I'm surprised you remember where this room was." Yusuke said to him, looking at the damaged room.
"Why wouldn't I?" Hiei asked him dropping the sheet back onto the floor. Yusuke grin slightly.
"Yeah, why wouldn't you?" He asked Hiei as he turned to leave.
"Are the twins my children, detective?" Hiei asked as Yusuke stopped in his tracks in the doorway.
"Nani?" Yusuke asked with his back still facing Hiei.
"You heard me. Are the twins my offspring and is Akari their mother?" Hiei asked staring a hole in Yusuke's back.
Yusuke turned around the face him with a serious _expression on his face and said... "Of course not! Akari lost the baby she carried from you silly. Hahaha^o^!!"
Yusuke said with a silly grin.
Hiei face vaulted and immediately got to his feet again and passed Yusuke to leave the room, back down the hall to meet back up with the others in the throne room.
Yusuke sighed with relief.
"That was too close. Akari? Wherever you are, you owe me big time for this." He said and left the room.

Meanwhile...
"How is our guest, doctor?" Lord Lucien asked when he walked into the lab to where the doctor was standing.
"Quite well. Her endurance and stamina is extraordinary, although I shouldn't be surprised. She is half wolf-demon and human. Her bloodline is quite the rarity." The doctor who was a kitsune with jet black hair, ice blue eyes, pointy ears, and fox tail, replied.
They both stood looking at Akari who was asleep on a table before them.
"Good. She will make an excellent addition to my harem." Lucien reaching out to touch Akari's cheek.
"My lord, wait!" The doctor cried out.
"YOOOOOUCCCHHHH!" Lucien snatched his hand back when it came in contact with the invisible shield that surround Akrai.
"What the hell?!" Lucien asked, holding his singed hand.
"I tried to warn you sir. The queen has erected a barrier to protect herself." The doctor told him.
"She's unconscious! How can she do that?"
"I don't know. Its amazing really. My guess would be that her subconscious is acting on its own and is protecting its body since Queen Akari can't consciously defend herself. The barrier appeared when I started trying to examine her. Anytime someone gets to close or tries to touch her. Well, you saw what happened."
"It appears I have once again underestimated you, my beauty. But, even you can't keep this barrier up forever. Keep me posted doctor and let me know the minute the barrier is gone or she has awaken." Lucien told the doctor as he left the lab.
"Yes sir." The doctor replied.
Both unaware that the person in question heard everything they said.
*I don't need to keep it up forever. Just long enough for the twins to get Yusuke and their father and come here. Then, Lord Lucien, you will wish you never caused harm to me and mine.* Akari said mentally.
