Chapter 11
"Hey where are you going?' Jonas watches as Andrea stands up from her work.
"To see a house. Would you guys like to come with me?" Andrea says gathering her papers and bag.
"Yeah, sounds like fun. When do you have to be there?" Daniel asks while typing on his computer.
"In about two hours. I'll meet you at my car, Okay?" Andrea says standing in the door way.
"Sounds good. We'll finish up and meet you in an hour." Daniel says going back to his work as Andrea leaves.
"Jonas you better buckle up." Daniel says from the back seat of the car.
Andrea buckles herself in tightly. "Make sure it's snug."
Jonas buckles himself and looks at Andrea. "Why?"
Andrea grins at Jonas. "Because I'm hell on wheels."
Daniel laughs. "She's not joking Jonas."
Andrea remains quiet as she goes through the base exit slowly. "Hang on Jonas." Leaving the base Andrea hits the gas and shifts into gear going seventy miles an hour.
Jonas looks surprised. "Who taught you how to drive?" Jonas feeling comfortable relaxes.
Andrea pays attention to the road. "Our chauffer, my father use to run late all the time. The chauffer drives a lot faster than me."
Jonas looks at Andrea. "How fast does he drive?"
Andrea looks at Daniel through the review mirror. "Ninety to a hundred miles an hour."
Standing in front of the house a small petite blonde woman unlocks the front door of the dusty blue tri-level. Hearing the car door open, the woman turns around and walks toward Andrea, Daniel and Jonas. "Hello, I'm Rita Bauer. Senator Fletcher hired me as your real-estate agent."
Andrea wearing a navy dress walks next to Daniel who is dress casual in khaki pants and polo shirt. Jonas stands behind them wearing a t-shirt and jeans. "Hi, I'm Dr. Andrea Milton this is Dr. Jackson and Mr. Quinn."
The woman's smiles and shakes everyone's hands. "Welcome, I'm glad you brought your friends. As I said on the phone the house is quiet big for you, but it fits the price range the Senator gave me." The woman holds the door open for them. Andrea, Daniel and Jonas walk into the house followed by the agent. "This is a tri-level home with a basement however the previous owners did a great deal of remolding. As you can see the home is state of the art. All the main systems in the home are digital as well as DSL hook up, cable, phone, and TV."
"It's very nice." Jonas says walking around.
"What would you do with all this space?" Daniel asks looking around the corner to the kitchen.
Andrea looks at the Daniel and walks toward him. "Empty my storage space."
Walking past Andrea the real-estate agent walks into the kitchen. "The entire kitchen is state of the art including a internet line for a laptop."
Andrea walks into the kitchen and looks around opening the doors to several appliances checking them out. "This is definitely my dream kitchen."
Daniel looks impressed, scratching his head he looks at the agent. "Exactly how many bed rooms are there?"
Pulling out a cabinet drawer to show a warmer drawer, the agent looks up. "There are six bedrooms, one of which is converted into a den."
Jonas who was in the dining room enters the kitchen. "Really?"
Pick up fliers the agent hands one to each of them. "There are two on the top level, two in the converted basement, and the den is located on the third level."
"This is just... too large for one person." Daniel peers down the stairs.
"Yes." Andrea goes up to the top level.
Daniel and the agent follow her up the stairs while Jonas goes down the second set. The agent turns to Andrea once they enter the master bedroom. "The Senator has also hired a designer to help fill the home you buy."
Andrea clinches her fists, and mumbles under her breath. "That was not necessary."
Daniel looks out the window, to see a woman entering the home next door. "Senator Fletcher is very generous."
A cell phone rings and Andrea and Daniel look at each other then at the agent who opens her purse, pulls out a phone and answers it, then turns to them. "I have to take this, feel free to look around and take your time."
Andrea shakes her head. "Shall we finish the tour?"
Daniel smiles and lets her leave the room first.
Andrea, Daniel and Jonas regroup in the kitchen with various opinions of the house. Andrea looks around the kitchen again and then turns to the two men sitting at the breakfast bar. "I'm going to buy it."
Daniel looks at her surprised. "What?"
Jonas looks at her interested. "Why?"
Andi looks at them and smiles. "Books, I can get lots of books."
Daniel stares at Andrea, who is typing rapidly on a laptop in the lab. Studying the parchment he just received he wonders what she is doing. "What are you doing now?"
Andrea continues to type. "I'm making contact with friends and colleagues that I know."
Daniel puts down the parchment and turns to her with interest. "Has anyone replied?"
Andrea stops typing and turns around in her chair to face Daniel. "No, I told them not to, unless it was important."
Daniel opens his mouth to respond when Jack storms into the room looking angry. "What the hell were you thinking?" Jack holds up her jacket with his fingers wiggling in the large burn hole.
Dr. Fraiser walks into the room and stands next to him. "Were you injured Doctor Milton?'
Andrea groans standing up. "See, I'm clean." Andrea takes off her long-sleeved uniform shirt.
Daniel stands up. "Why didn't you say anything?"
Andrea looks at everyone unconcerned. "I wasn't hurt, so I didn't think it was important."
Jack looks at the coat and then at Andrea. "You weren't hit?" Jack looks at her confused.
Dr. Fraiser looks at Andrea's arm. "It looks as if it just grazed her coat."
Andrea looks at the Colonel annoyed. "Grogan blabbed didn't he?'
Jack looks at her and easing in his temper. "Just be glad he told me and not Kawalsky."
Andrea shakes her head. "He shouldn't have."
Dr. Fraiser looks up Andrea. "Next time this happens I want to see you right away."
Daniel looks at Andrea a little concerned. "How could you not have been wounded?"
Andrea looks at Daniel, and tries to lighten the tension in his face. "Daniel if I had been injured, we never would have left the planet."
Dr. Fraiser looks at her concerned by the statement. "What do you mean by you never would have left the planet?"
Andrea sits back down in her chair. "Kek would have whisked me away very quickly if I had been injured. He has extraordinary power. One of the Jaffa loyal to me would have said something and before anyone would have know what had happened I would have been gone, Kek as well."
Jack looks at her stunned. "You're telling me he really let us go?"
Andrea looks at him and frowns. "He could have killed everyone if he had wanted too. He's the worst goa'uld there is. I say that only because I don't classify Anubis as a goa'uld anymore."
Janet looks at the expression of remorse and regret in Andrea's eyes. "You're serious!"
Jack looks at Daniel. "You've really got to inform on his past history. I feel like I'm shooting blind!" Jack steps out of the room.
Daniel watches Andrea stiffen. "I'll try Jack, but from what Andrea has told us already his history here isn't anything like what he has been doing the last 5,000 years." Daniel finishes as Jack walks away.
Andrea looks at Janet and remembers the letter she had written to Cassandra. "Dr. Fraiser I have something for Cassandra."
"I haven't spoken to her about you yet." Janet watches as Andrea goes through her brief case.
Andrea finds the letter and pulls it out of a file. "It's okay it's a brief introduction of who I am, and details that may help her understand me a little better." Andrea hands the thick envelope to the doctor.
Janet takes the envelope and sticks it in her lab coat pocket. "I'll give it to her tonight when I get home."
Andrea smiles, "Thanks, she's welcome to email me if she wants I left an address for her."
"I'm sure she will." Janet leaves, noticing that O'Neill was gone and Andrea had skill when it came to changing the subject.
Daniel looks at Andrea after Dr. Fraiser leaves and notices, that Andrea is a little shaken. "Are you okay?"
Andrea sits silently for a minute, her elbows on the desk hands covering her face. "I'm fine I'm just as little rough around the edges today."
Daniel looks at her confused by her statement. "I don't understand what you mean."
Andrea sits up right in her chair and turns to face Daniel. "There are events that have happened in the last six years I haven't coped with yet. Some days it's difficult to discuss Kek. Some memories are stronger than others and upset me easily. I'm not ready to go into detail about certain events either."
Daniel looks at her with understanding. "I can't begin to understand what you went though."
Andrea looks away for a minute thinking then looks at him again. "I'm really surprised that you have any sympathy for me at all because I chose to be a goa'uld. Sha're did not. Sometimes I wonder if you hate me because I had it a little easier than she did."
"I don't think you had it easier than Sha're. I think you both went through a horrible experience. I don't think you became a host willingly either. I couldn't hate you either Andrea, you were a friend to me before any of this happened." Daniel says honestly.
Andrea looks surprised by his statement. "I didn't think you would remember anything about all those years ago."
Daniels smiles at her. "I remember you telling me once that they had no right to discard my theories because when ever the scientific community does so they regret it later."
Andrea laughs remembering the conversation. "I was comparing you to Alfred Wegener. And you ignored me the rest of the day because you knew I was right."
"Yes, but then I really didn't believe I was this right." Daniel says looking at Andrea.
