CHAPTER EIGHT

"Fa-Father?" Dante asked with a shaky voice while looking at Hiei.

Bijin stared at Hiei then looked at Yusuke.

"You knew didn't you, uncle Yusuke?" She asked him.

Dante and Hiei looked at Yusuke as he nodded.

"Yes, its true. Hiei is your father." He answered.

Hiei growled. He suddenly appeared in front of Yusuke and nailed him with a right hook that sent him flying a few feet away and onto the ground.

Yusuke sat up rubbing the blood from his split lip and looked up to see Hiei stalking toward him with a look of clear rage on his face.

"You bastard!! You knew all this time and you didn't say anything! I told you I would make you pay if I found out that you lied to me!" Hiei snarled.

He began to summon upon the Ensatsu-Koku-Ryu-Ha when Bijin ran in front of Yusuke.

"Iie! Don't hurt uncle Yusuke!" She shouted at her father.

"Why shouldn't I?! I lied to me, to you and your brother! Why should I forgive him?!" Hiei snapped at her.

Bijin's head was down as her body began to tremble.

"Because..." she said.

Her head snapped up and he saw that she was crying.

"Because he's our uncle and mama's Ni-chan! He's our family!!" She screamed at him.

Hiei gasped as he stopped in his tracks, looking at his daughter.

"Uncle Yusuke was always there for us when you weren't. He was our father figure until you returned home. We love our uncle very much, like a second father. I know uncle Yusuke would never lie to us unless he had good reason." She explained.

Hiei blinked at her then, felt someone touch his arm. He looked down and saw Dante looking up at him with tears in his eyes.

"Bijin is right. Uncle Yusuke has never lied to us. So, let him explain what happened. Please papa?" He pleaded with his father.

Hiei eyes widened when Dante said what he said. He swallowed past the lump in his throat.

"You-you called me papa?" He said softly.

Dante smiled and nodded.

"Of course. And-and we love you very much, papa." Bijin said as she came up to him and embraced him, her arms around his waist.

Dante followed his sister's example and hugged him too, both with smiles on their faces.

Hiei was speechless. He was a father and not just any father, the twin's father. He felt a swelling of pride rise in him as he knelt down to embrace his children to his chest and he silently cried. For once in his life, not caring who saw. He was a father and he was happy.

Yusuke, who was helped to his feet by Kurama and Kuwabara, smiled at the special moment before clearing his throat to get their attention.

"We need to go somewhere else to talk about this situation thoroughly." Yusuke said. Hiei, Dante, and Bijin looked at him and nodded.

They stood up and all of them made their way back to Kenta and went back to the castle to talk.

Meanwhile in the lush rain forest known as the Eastern lands, Lord Kei has just arrived at his castle with a still unconscious Akari in his arms.

"My lord, you have returned." Yuki greeted his master when he stepped into the main hall.

"Yes. Have the Trio returned?" Lord Kei asked as he headed up the three flights of stairs leading to his bed chambers with Yuki following close behind.

"Yes, my lord. They arrived just before you did. They said to let you know that not a soul survived and that the Northern region is now a barren wasteland." Yuki informed him.

"Excellent."

"Will she be alright, my lord?" Yuki asked as they entered Kei's bed chambers.

Yuki watched as Kei gently placed Akari in his king size canopy bed. Yuki loved how his master's bed chambers were decorated. The primary colors of his bedroom was sapphire blue with emerald green borders with gold leaves, the rug was thick and soft that anyone would love to just sleep on instead of the bed, french doors on the opposite of the bed led out to the balcony that overlooked the ocean beyond it. It had very little furniture. Just a bed, a table and chairs, a walk-in closet and a adjacent bathroom. The best word to describe his master's quarters was cozy.

Kei covered Akari with the sapphire blue, silk comforter and left his bed chambers with Yuki in tow.

"She'll be fine. She's just needs to rest. That baka, Lucien, nearly killed her trying to knock out her shield, but we're very lucky he didn't. And I made sure he wouldn't harm anyone else ever again." Kei told him as they entered the library.

"Anyway, Yuki, did you manage to get the ingredients needed for the summoning spell?" Kei asked as he removed a large, hard bound book from the glass case it was in.

"Nearly done, master. Only two more ingredients to go and we will have them all." Yuki replied.

"Good. Make sure a lovely dinner is prepared for tonight's guest. I'm sure that Lucien didn't feed her while she was his prisoner. You may go." Kei said as he took a seat in one of the leather chairs and began reading.

"Yes, my lord." Yuki said then left Kei to read in peace.

"Well, detective. We're listening." Hiei told Yusuke as they were all sitting in what was left to the dining room.

They had pulled a couch into the dining room since it was one of the few rooms left without giant holes in the walls. Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Kurama were sitting in the arm chairs they brought into the room. While Hiei sat on the couch with the twins cuddled up on both sides of him with his arms holding them close as they all waiting for Yusuke to begin.

Yusuke took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

"Well, it all started six years ago." He began.

Yusuke explained everything. From Akari's fake miscarriage, his and Koenma's knowledge of the pregnancy, his secret visits to the sister dimension to help Akari during her pregnancy, the twins' birth, and everything that's happened up to this point. He made sure nothing was left out.

"And that's it. That's the whole story." Yusuke finished.

Everyone was quiet as they absorbed what Yusuke told them. It was a lot to swallow especially for Hiei and the twins since the story revolved around them. The silence was broken when the twins yawned. Hiei looked at them and smiled.

"Come on you two. Time for bed, we'll talk about this later detective." Hiei told Yusuke, Kurama, and Kuwabara as he stood up with the twins.

Holding the twin's hands, he walked his children to their upstairs bedroom that wasn't completely damaged or had holes in the wall. He had them take a bath, brush their teeth, dress them in their silk pj's and covered them with the blanket once they were settle into bed.

"Papa?" Dante asked looking his father.

"Yes, son?"

"Do you hate mama?"

"Nani?"

"After what uncle Yusuke told us, I wanted to know if you hated mama?" Hiei sat down on the side of the bed looking his children.

"No, son. I don't hate your mother. Heck, I'm not even mad at her. Why should I be? If anyone should hate someone, its you mother who should hate me. Especially with the way I acted when I found out she was pregnant." Hiei said.

"You two should hate me for what I did as well." Bijin and Dante smiled and shook their heads.

"We could never hate you, papa. We know that all this happened because of a misunderstanding, but it can be fixed now. You and mama can make up and get back together." Bijin said.

Hiei looked down at the blanket like it was the most interesting thing in the world.

"I don't think you mother will want me back." Hiei said despondently.

Bijin giggled while Dante shook his head at his father's naivete.

"Mama will want you back papa. Don't worry. We know she will." Dante told him.

"Really? How can you be sure?" Hiei asked.

"Because mama loves you, silly!" Dante and Bijin said together.

Hiei just stared at them as he absorbed what they said. Bijin patted her father's hand before snuggling closer to her older brother with a yawn.

"When we rescue mama, you'll see that she stills loves you, papa. Just as much as we do." Dante said sleepily as he and his sister drifted off to dreamland.

Hiei smiled gently. He got up and kiss the twins goodnight on their forehands and left the room, closing the door softly behind him. He sighed as he leaned against the door.

Could it be true? Does Akari still truly love me? Hiei said to himself as he ponder this question as he shifted away from the door to go back to dining hall.
