Dance With the Devil
I don't own anything, tis a shame.
Tentacle Trouble
Sorry about the delay on this. Between getting a viral infection that made it impossible to do anything but cough for three weeks straight and life just sucking in general, I wasn't in any mood to do anything.
Chapter 6
After seeing how the events ended in Kuoh City, Ayoko gave Jedah a flat stare. "Really, your whole plan was to use him to make them super horny and nearly rape some girls? What the hell?"
Jedah had a look that was a mixture of amused and annoyed. "That... Wasn't exactly what I intended. Oh well." He raised an eyebrow at Ayoko's continued flat stare. "What?"
"You bonded him with a tentacle monster that wants to rape everything female, sent him after rather beautiful Devil women and DIDN'T expect him to try and rape them!?" The Devil Hunter yelled in disbelief. "What the hell?!"
Jedah sighed in annoyance. "FINE! I was expecting him to do that. In fact, I was hoping he'd do something like that."
Euclid adjusted his glasses. "I'm sure that you have a good reason for what you did then?"
"He was nothing more than a disposable pawn from the start." Jedah said as he turned away from them and several screens lit up revealing various locations around both Earth and Hell. "But now I just need a few pieces to fall into place."
"For what?" Ayoko asked, confusion in her voice as she looked at Euclid and Valerie, the latter of whom was showing no emotion and Ayoko mentally slapped herself as she remembered that Valerie was completely under Jedah's mind control.
Ayoko actually felt bad for the vampire girl, having to watch the world but being unable to react to it while her own people were suffering.
Jedah smirked as he closed all the screens but one, an open stadium. "Well, I've done all I can right now. It's just a matter of time and we'll see what happens."
Ayoko was about to say something when a new person appeared in front of her. "Who the hell are you?"
The purple-haired person turned to look at Ayoko, revealing that it was a young woman, and smiled, her golden eyes sparkling in amusement. "My name's Bennia. Reaper in service to Lord Hades and Lord Thanatos."
"And a spy for me." Jedah chuckled as he turned around and floated down to the floor. "What do you have to report?"
Bennia sighed as she turned to look at Jedah, despondence on her face. "You were right. Lord Hades is going to try something in the next few years. I don't know all the details, but..."
Jedah sighed and shook his head. "If he wasn't as powerful as he is, I'd be able to deal with him directly." Jedah had a feeling how he killed Belial wouldn't work on a God that ruled over Death like Hades. "Then again..." He chuckled as he looked at his arm. "I probably could now that I have certain items."
"But you won't," Euclid responded, "not yet at any rate. No sense in drawing in other powers that will be on the lookout for you."
"Of course not." Jedah shook his head and stroked his chin. "So, Bennia, what did you see?"
"I heard Lord Hades talking to other Gods in a private room." Bennia told him. "I was outside of the room, but it sounded like he was wanting to create a Hell Alliance to wipe out all Longinus users and other pantheons."
"And I fully suspect that Demons and Devils not aligned with any pantheon would be on his hit list." Jedah muttered in annoyance. "His plan is stupid and would leave us too vulnerable to the other world. Did you see who he was talking to?"
"No." She shook her head. "But you were right."
Ayoko openly groaned in annoyance. "What is going on here? You work with Hades? The Greek God of Death?"
"Greek God of the Underworld technically." Bennia corrected her. "Lord Thanatos is the Greek God of Death. Lord Hades just keeps the dead where they belong. And yes," she smiled at Ayoko as her form changed and she was wearing a black body suit while a skull mask adorned her face and a scythe appeared in her hands. "My name is Bennia, a Reaper in service to Lord Hades."
"A couple of years ago, I happened to come across her as she was in Makai at the time, harvesting the Souls of some miserable Demons who had the misfortune of being near my Soul Bees when they were hungry." Jedah told her. "I merely recruited her to work with me as I had a bad feeling about Hades." He smirked at Ayoko's confusion. "Didn't I tell you? I saw the future of this world and what happens is very... Unpleasant."
"I thought you couldn't see the future?" Ayoko muttered and Jedah smirked. "What?"
"There are various ways to see the future, even if it's not an ability you have." Jedah told her. "What I saw was bleak destruction everywhere." A solemn look came to his face as he thought about something he had been told months ago. "I made a miscalculation though. I didn't anticipate fools who wanted to go to the other world."
"So..." Ayoko looked at Bennia. "You're betraying Hades? Why?"
"Well, it was several years ago." Bennia smiled at Ayoko. "I happened to come to Makai looking for that stupid Bishamon cursed armor that eluded my father and caused Lord Hades to punish him." Ayoko gave her a raised eyebrow and she continued. "I met Lord Jedah while taking care of some dead Demons and he talked to me.
*Flash...*
"Well..." Jedah chuckled as he saw a reaper taking care of a dead Merman. "I didn't expect one of Hades's servants to be in Makai." The reaper spun to face Jedah, who merely held up his hands. "Peace, reaper, peace. My name is Jedah Dohma, one of the three rulers of Makai. Should I have wished you harm, I could have taken you out before you knew I was here."
"...Fair point." The reaper said as she lowered her scythe. "My name is Bennia. What do you want, Devil?"
"Merely curious as to what you're doing here." Jedah said as he started walking in a slow circle around the reaper. "It's pretty rare for one of your kind to come here. Usually souls end up in the Well of Lost Souls or just disappear since Makai isn't under your normal jurisdiction."
"I'm looking for a cursed armor." Bennia told Jedah. "It's red and eats souls."
"Oh yes, that thing I created ages ago." Jedah muttered and smirked as Bennia stiffened in surprise. "Sadly, at the moment, I do not know where it is, but it will pop up in the next ten years."
"...How do you know?"
"It has an unstoppable urge to fight and battle." Jedah shrugged in response. "And I released a powerful succubus into the world. Who knows what will happen?" A thoughtful look came to his face. "Tell me girl, how is your standing with Hades?"
"Why do you ask me that?"
"Curiosity, really." Jedah said as he cupped his chin with his right hand. "As I said, it's rare for reapers to come to Makai. The fact that you're looking for that armor I created ages ago tells me that there's a reason beyond just harvesting souls to be reincarnated." He removed his hand from his chin and rotated his wrist so that his index and middle finger were pointing at her. "So I'm wondering if maybe you're looking to score brownie points for Hades to boost your standing with him or perhaps get yourself back in his good graces."
"...You're very perceptive." Bennia nodded. "My family is currently disgraced due to a mistake my father made. Lord Hades has said that I could redeem myself and my father if I can find the Bishamon armor and bring it in."
"Interesting." Jedah nodded. "I could help you, I suppose. The armor isn't very amusing to me anymore." Bennia perked up, though Jedah turned away from her and shook his head. "Then again, what would be the point of helping you? Seeing you struggle while your boss plots to destroy the world is more interesting."
"...What?" Bennia asked, her pupils shrinking. "You're lying. Sure, Lord Hades hates all other pantheons, but he wouldn't try to destroy the world."
"Are you sure?" Jedah asked her. "Someone like him, so confident in his own power, one who has power that far outstrips my own, who hates other pantheons and seeks their destruction?" He had amusement in his voice. "But perhaps you're right. Perhaps you know him better than I do."
"Of course I do!" Bennia protested. "He's Lord Hades! He has his faults, but he's not a bad God!"
"Hmm..." Tapping his chin, Jedah grinned. "How about a deal then?" He turned his head to see her looking at him curiously. "I am in need of some services myself. I need someone to be my eyes and ears around Hades."
"You want me to spy on him?" Bennia asked, her expression darkening. "I don't know who you think you are, but if you think that I'll just willingly..."
"Of course not." Jedah waved his hand dismissively. "One sided deals are no fun. My offer is this. I will give you information on the Bishamon armor as well as anything that I think could help you regain favor with Hades. In exchange, I merely ask that you keep an eye on him. Note who he meets with." He turned and started to walk away. "I know what happens when people who have a lot of power try to destroy things they don't like and can't control."
Bennia watched as Jedah walked off, his wings expanding. "...what did he mean by that?" It almost sounded like he was speaking from experience.
End Flashback...
"After that, I didn't hear from Lord Jedah until a few months ago when I was told that the Red Dragon Emperor had woken up and following him might find some interesting things out." Bennia chuckled softly. "That Devil that Lord Jedah fused with the tentacle monster... He should have died, but I was there when he was supposed to die and I grabbed him just before his body disappeared and pulled him here.
Ayoko gave Jedah, who was smirking in amusement, an annoyed look. "Did you have everything planned; everything from the start?" Jedah's look became one of confusion. "I mean did you create an elaborate plan and figure everything out and everything's falling into place because of some weird..."
Jedah scoffed and interrupted her. "Hell no! No one alive is that omnipotent." Seeing her look of disbelief, he rolled his eyes. "What? Did you think I had some sort of "I can control your every move" ability? What kind of stupid bullshit is that?" He crossed his arms and huffed. "If I had that ability, I wouldn't need to wait for months until the perfect time to unleash my plan." He ignored her annoyance, and a thought came to him. "Actually, Ayoko, it might be best if you return to Earth. Or stay in Makai, I don't care."
"...What?" Ayoko tilted her head in surprise.
"I would suggest you train so that you're fully ready to face your cousin." Jedah grinned. "I doubt you could defeat her as you are now. I'll come for you when it's time for me to make my move."
Jedah wasn't lying about what he was saying. "I know that you'll want to kill me after you deal with her. In fact, the only reason you're not trying to kill me is because I'm giving you an honest chance to face her, yes?" Ayoko nodded and Jedah clapped. "Good. Anyway, Bennia can take you to wherever you want to go. I'll see you in a few months."
Ayoko grumbled, but nodded. She looked at Valerie Tepes, who stood there silently with her eyes dull and listless and paused.
'Why do I feel so bad for her? She's a Vampire.' Ayoko asked herself as the reaper came over and both disappeared in a flash of light.
"Finally." Jedah slumped in his chair. "Gah, working with Devil Hunters is the worst thing ever. They always want to kill you."
"How do you avoid her trying to kill you anyway?" Euclid asked in curiosity. "For that matter, she hates Devils with a passion I've not seen since the Great War, so why is she working for you?"
Jedah smirked at him. "I didn't have to do anything. She's Japanese." Euclid had no reaction to that, and he sighed. "Fine. To the Japanese, honor is everything. For someone who was raised to fight Devils, a family member becoming one is a great stain on the honor of their family."
Euclid's eyes widened in understanding. "Ah, I get it now. You didn't have to do anything because she's desperate to undo the stain of honor. Clever."
Jedah chuckled in amusement. "All that remains is the final pieces fall into place." And if everything worked out properly...
He'd end up with a very powerful piece to use when he made his final move.
