A NEW STAR

DISCLAIMER

I got this idea from the Lost Boys book where Star tells Michael that David had found her sleeping on the beach. All characters of the Lost Boys belong to Warner brothers.

INTRODUCTION

David discovers Star.

David walked onto the beach. He looked at the mortals, but ignored them. The vampire wasn't here to feed. He had already done so. A chilly wind blew, surprising since it was the middle of summer. Out on the stage, some guy was singing. Rather late for that, David thought. Usually a performer was done by now. He continued. Suddenly, he stumbled over something. Confused, he looked to the ground. To his surprise, a girl about seventeen was lying on the sand, asleep. As he watched her, something stirred from within. It was a feeling the vampire had forgotten. It was a feeling of protectiveness. David bent down.

"Hey," he said softly, shaking her shoulder. With a gasp, the girl awoke.

"Easy, I'm not going to hurt you," David assured.

"What do you want?" the girl asked weakly.

"It's not really a good idea to sleep out here. I mean, for one thing, what if it rains?" David replied. He helped her up.

"I know this isn't the ideal place, but I had nowhere to go," she explained.

"You can stay with me and my friends," David told her. He walked off. Curious, the girl followed.

"Will your friends accept me?" she queried.

"Of course," David said. "I'm David, by the way," he continued.

"Star," the girl introduced herself sheepishly.

"Star? I like it," David stated.

"I hate it. My parents were ex-hippies," Star replied.

"You shouldn't hate it. It's a pretty name," David told her. Presently, they came up to a black Triumph.

"Would you like a ride?" David invited.

"Can I meet your friends?" Star asked.

"Sure," David agreed. He helped her on, then mounted himself. He took off. Star laughed at the fast speed. All too soon for her tastes, David stopped.

"Come on," he invited. Star looked doubtfully at the rickety steps.

"It's not as dangerous as it looks," he assured. Star nervously took David's hand and allowed him to lead down the steps.

"Hey, David!" Star cringed at the whoops.

"Knock it off boys, we have a guest," David chided. The group of boys watched as David brought in the girl.

"Who's she?" a tall Latin guy with long hair wondered.

"Boys, this is Star," David replied. "Star, here you have Marko---" he pointed to a short boy with curly blond hair. "Dwayne---" he gestured to the tall boy. "Paul---" the tall, lanky boy with long blond hair waved.

"Yo," he greeted.

"And Laddie," David finished, motioning to the boy sitting between Dwayne and Paul. Star looked at him, surprised at the catch in his voice. However, she didn't press it.

"Who are you guys?" Star wondered.

"We're called the Lost Boys," David answered. Paul pulled out a jeweled bottle and took a drink from it. Laddie scooted away from the boy.

"Wow, that looks good," Star noted.

"You want some?" Paul offered.

"Sure," Star answered.

"No," Laddie protested.

"She doesn't have to," David told him gently. "I'm serious. You don't have to if you don't want to," he continued.

"I want to," Star insisted. Paul handed her the bottle.

"Don't. You don't understand," Laddie told her. Star just raised the bottle to her lips. Laddie broke away from the group and ran to his cubicle. Star barely noticed. She just kept drinking what she thought was wine.
