Crystal Glass

She didn't know why she lingered in this place. Something was keeping her here. Samantha Carter didn't understand everything happening at the moment. This wasn't some puzzle she could take apart and put back together again.

Then, she saw him. The one person who seemed to have been following her all her life. Everything before the Stargate program had been a blur as if she were looking through a crystal glass. Her image of him was distorted, and he was doing nothing to solve her hazy analysis.

Sam couldn't care less anymore about how he had found her. He shadowed her, followed her across the stars. He didn't say anything; he didn't really need to. When she had been completely defenseless on one mission, he had shielded her from harm. Before, he had merely stayed a safe distance and watched them.

No, he watched her. His eyes haunted her dreams by floating on her subconscious mind. Some of the team had thought she seemed a little distracted, but she had snapped at them. They didn't even know how right they were. He was her one constant in life, and she would lose sense of reality if he had suddenly disappeared.

She wasn't so much of a patient person, but she waited for him. He never approached her before willingly unless she was under attack, but she would stay. He hesitated before stepping towards her. When she didn't move, he took a few more steps forward.

His footsteps resounded to the beat of her heart. When he stopped a foot from her, she could only hear a pounding in her ears. Drums seemed to be roaring within her. He brushed back a stray hair away from her face as their gazes locked.

No emotion except for a deep longing and sadness resided in those beautiful pools of color. His eyes were were the palette, and she wanted nothing more than to be the painter. She felt the need to help mold him into the person she had dreamed he was.

According to the laws of the command, this was all wrong. Everything about them was wrong, but she didn't want to be the little girl who followed all the rules anymore. If nothing else, she would have this one moment. He was her purpose, and she was his reason for surviving day after day against the Goa'uld.

Sam smiled sadly as the world shattered around her.

I'm sorry if the font is screwed up. Microsoft Word is not being very nice to me at the moment.
