Switched Up
1--The Old Priest
Kagome walked briskly down the path from her house, making sure not to fall backwards. The yellow bookbag was immense compared to most days. Her eyes floated up towards the brightening sun, each feather-soft cloud leaving a small patch in the blue sky that summer morning. Kagome climbed, hultched over like a hermit all the way up the steps toward the Shinto Shrine. At the top she slouched onto the ground, huffing and puffing.
BANG
Kagome's gaze shot toward the shrine; her eyes noticed the screen doors had been left open. With a groan the yellow bag was once again on her back, the heavy load jerking her to a slow crawl as she trugged towards the shrine, but it seemed worth it; she was curious of who might be in there at this time. As she drew closer the mumbling of words could be heard, a big clue to her mystery guest.
"Grandpa," Kagome grunted, staring down at the old geizure while leaning against the doorframe for support.
He stood as stiff as any old guy could and resighted his phony incantations, hands pressed against the side of the well, acting like he was actually doing something. Kagome walked over and put a hand on his shoulder her sign of pity.
"You shouldn't be up, go back to bed."
"What? Are you my mother now? Anyway I'm helping you!" he protested, giving a heroic stance, but she rolled her eyes starting to question his mental state.
"Alright Grandpa, if you say so." Kagome said while jumping onto the creaky well. Grandpa stood his ground, a fired up gaze locking with hers. With one last skeptical look she fell in, thankful that only she was able to enter the Feudal Era.
I could only imagine what kind of havic Grandpa would cause if he was with me.
A screenshot of him bragging about his preist powers and ancestory was then followed by a scene of everyone running for the hills. Even then his drouning could be heard miles away.
He should feel lucky he has Sato.
A slight smile crept onto her stern face, but soon vanished as remembrance of Inu Yasha formed at the surface of her joke. Kagome's shoulders fell forward, a vain attempt to relax before confronting Inu Yasha. Through the past years' she discovered her head-to-head battles with the dog demon were tiring and in a way, a waste. It either ended with her stomping off to home or Inu Yasha barking at her face and neither of them speaking a word.
It really isn't you she asured herself, it's just that immature puppy dog always on your case.
Even with that comforting advice nothing seemed his fault. The end of the well soon waned, that so familair light made her stomach turn. With a strong grip to her bag and a firm look towards the light she pushed way to the other side, leaving the security of the well.
