Brooke, alcoholic beverage in hand, glanced around the party scene to find Nathan sitting alone on a bar stool staring into a plastic cup. She smiled to herself. Brooke thought about how cute Nathan was with his toned arms and his muscular body. She wondered what it would be like to have those firm arms wrapped around her petite waist. Wait. How could she think that? She just had her experience with the other Scott brother. That had not gone well at all. In fact, it had ended with him cheating on her with her best friend. No, maybe Nathan's different she thought. Besides, it wasn't like their fling would last through the night. Feeling extra confident, Brooke marched up to Nathan and leaned against the table.
"Hey gorgeous," Brooke said with a devious smile spreading across her face.
"Look, Brooke, I'm not in the mood for any of your games that you played so well in high school," Nathan said smuggly without glancing up from his drink.
"Oh no Natey. I'm not into games. Actually, I'm into you." Brooke took a sip of her drink.
"Give it a rest. I'm not interested."
Brooke knew that Nathan liked playing hard to get. He always did. Being excelled at the mind game, she decided to go along with her Brooke-like instincts.
"Nathan, Nathan, Nathan. You disappoint me," Brooke sniggered and pushed her fingers through Nathan's short, black hair, "I've seen you watching me before. Especially during those basketball games. I know you want me."
Brooke brushed her lips against Nathan's ear. Nathan, getting annoyed, sighed and pushed away from Brooke. Sure, Nathan thought Brooke was gorgeous. He always had. But did he really want to be seduced by Brooke's lack of judgement because of the alcohol running through her blood stream? Although, he wasn't entirely stable at the moment either. Nathan had it rough. After his father died and his mother ran off, he was left entirely alone. Sure he did have Haley but she was away with Lucas. Lucas. They had been getting along and actually kept in touch after high school but Nathan knew how they felt about each other. He saw the look in Haley's eyes when Lucas was around. She wanted to be with him. He also knew that Haley was too nice to break Nathan's fragile heart. Maybe a night with Brooke wouldn't hurt. It would be a way for him to escape all the pain and frustration he felt inside.
