Do I Deserve... Your Love?

::-::

The desire from his kiss,

The warmth from his grip,

The plea from his heart...

I denied.

And...

Fled.

Her eyes opened to the endless blue of the sky before her. Blinking back the bright rays of the sun she could only think,

"The day is so seamlessly perfect and serene... unlike the turmoil of a storm within me"

Days had passed since that night, the one time she was so unsure of her actions. The confidence and assurance were no more. She could only continue to doubt, to question, and the sense of guilt was becoming over bearing.

Fenris stole a glance at Loki to see him pacing silently, turned away from the rest with his view fixed on the path, only he could see.

"Loki, wait up! It's not like we have to save the world by tomorrow!" Chaos gave a slight pant, "Iris is getting a tad... umm," he shifted his eyes towards the trees "Uh.. nevermind. It's just too hot.... Take a break will ya?"

Loki left the question hanging for a few moments before he came to a halt. Taking a seat beneath the cool shade of a tree, and closing his eyes for the time being. The others decided to rest in a relatively breezy spot a few metres behind.

"He's sure being really quiet. I wonder if something's on his mind?" Iris asked the question to no one in particular.

"Nah.... He's just restless I suppose. The heat's pretty bad so I think it's getting to him," Chaos chipped in.

"Well whatever. Fenris seems to be tired too, she hasn't spoken very much lately" Iris padded her shoulder and gave a small smile. "Fenris... are you okay?"

The warlock snapped out of her dazed and nodded with a smile.

"I won't make others worry... my woes are mine, and mine alone."

She stole another glance at Loki, but the uneasiness stirred stronger. She tried to avoid his presence as much as possible, but every now and then when he caught her, she could say nothing. She could only look away.

"I caused all of this... this unbearable silence... his empty stares... I hurt him."

The clarity of the thought alarmed Fenris.

"Because I was in doubt... because of my hesitance... He's in pain."

Suddenly, a question pulled at her.

"But... aren't I being honest? Don't I owe it to myself to be truthful?"

"Yo, girls I'm going to take a stroll and see if anything is worth eating in this forest. My muscles need nourishment to be fully capable of protecting all of you," Chaos chuckled with a wink.

Iris started to laugh and chimed in, "Aright but remember we need you soon."

The rune knight briskly got to his feet before giving a shout to Loki, "While I'm gone, look after the ladies!" Loki didn't seem to hear, but Chaos gave a careless shrug before sauntering off into the foliage.

"He better not take too long... I'm getting hungry too," Iris said with a pout, and with a newfound delight, started to chatter endlessly on all the delicious things she would like to eat. Fenris reluctantly nodded now and then to show some false sense of interest.

"I cannot give you anything... Let alone what you wish to hear."
