This Is Sooo Not What I Asked For!
Disclaimer: Still not even owning the pocket lint. Joss still owns it all, darn it.
Reviews: Don't really expect any positives on this one but let me know what you think. But only if you feel the need.
A/N: This occurred to me while I was making breakfast. Tells you where my mind lives and that my muse doesn't have a life either.

Spike regained consciousness slowly. He heard the demon off to the side.
"You've endured all the required trials." The demon announced.
"Bloody right I did." The vampire growled.
Spike carefully moved into a kneeling position on the dirt floor of the cave breathing heavily. Not out of necessity but more from habit. He'd never really stopped breathing. Finally, he was going to get what he'd earned. He was going to be a real vampire again. As in no chip. He wanted so badly to be as he was before the sodding government freaks had planted that little menace of silicone and wire in his skull. Then finally, at last, after all this time, he would do what he first went to Sunnydale to do. Kill the Slayer. Get her out from under his skin. Give her what she deserved for being such a bleeding bitch to him. He braced himself for the final step. After all he'd endured, not just in this cave of torture, but over the past few years he was ready.
"Now give me what I came for. Make me what I was. So Buffy will get what she deserves." Spike's bravado never waned despite his exhaustion and pain.
"Fine. We shall return your.... Soul." With that the demon placed his hand on Spike's chest and light glowed from there and in his eyes.
Spike's final thought before he passed out was one of total shock. 'MY SOUL? WHAT? NOOOOOO!!!!'

A/N: I always felt that Spike was so totally not after his soul when he went to Africa. The look on his face when the demon announced that it was his reward for passing all the tests is what inspired this little piece. (That and the way he talked when he first got to the cave.) I edited this for dialogue accuracy.
