I promised you long ago
That I would always follow you
Where ever you lead me
Where ever you took me
I would follow

I was born to protect you
That is my purpose in this life
To protect you from the darkness
And to save you from the light

If you are forced to leave me
I will follow you
Cut off the way to you
And I will find another

Sometimes
I can taste my own tears
They often fall freely
When dealing with you

Sometimes
I cry
Alone
Cowering in the darkness
Hiding from the pain
And shivering from the cold

It is a fate I cannot escape
Though sometimes I try
Though maybe I don't want it
Maybe I want to stay here
If not in the light of the Valar
At least in the warmth of your love

Sometimes
I can taste my own blood
It tastes of the ocean
Of the salty water of the sea
I would swim it to get to you

I would face the cold again
If it meant staying by your side
I love you Maedhros
