Old Wounds

By: Nikki Ree

Darkness covers the earth
Rain weeps like heaven's tears
Blood pours cold from open wounds
And replaces hope with Hellish fears

Felled in honor
Or felled in treason
It is but the same
Sorrow lingers in a wound cut deep
And death is still the end
For those who do not sleep

Saved from death by fate
To burn within the fires of Hell
Spawned from love was this torment made
Alone and unwanted
You must not fade

A reflection is but an image
A desire drowned in it's own illusion
A tainted evil
For into darkness fell your star
My Love
In Mordor where the shadows are

Time does not heal all wounds
For mine still bleed occasionally
Heaven calls to my fellow soldiers
But the voice is unheard by me

I am but an old soul
One that still lingers on
With a soul I cannot comfort
And a pain that is not my own
