Haldir Would Have Died Anyway!

Disclaimer: I own not Haldir, Celeborn, Middle Earth or nearly anything LOTR related.

Summary: Four ways Haldir could have died in the Bookverse.

Chapter One: First Assault

' Stupid Orcs,' Haldir thought as he nocked his arrow from his hiding spot in the tall mallorn tree. In his peripheral vision he saw the rest of his company to the same.

' They just don't get it. And it's such a shame too, seeing all those good trees go to waste building the boats the Orcs use to cross the River,' he added to himself as he let his first arrow fly, piercing Orc 66687's throat and felling him.

The rest of Haldir's company began to engage the Orcs as well. Many came crashing down, ruining perfectly good foliage. Then something happened that would not be good for the Elves of Lorien.

The Berserkers disembarked. These Orcs were heavily armored and it took many shots to kill them. Unfortunately, the Elves had let fly most of their arrows in destroying the other, less armored Orcs. But they didn't have a very big choice in the matter. They let fly their arrows, and to Haldir's dismay only one of them fell dead. He shifted position in the tree to track another of the Berserkers when a twig snapped. The Orcs heard it and looked up.

"Not good," Haldir muttered as 17 Orc-arrows pierced his stomach and torso. Haldir, March-Warden of Lorien, fell 60 feet from a Mallorn tree. He was dead before he landed and crushed 5 of the Berserkers with his fall. The others didn't get far. A reserve company lept up from the bushes and slaughtered them. But it did Haldir little good, as the Elf's spirit fled Middle-Earth for the Halls of Mandos.

Author's Notes: Well, it's short, but there's not much else to say. R&R please. The purple button summons you to press it. Should you not, my Elven Armies always have arrows nocked.

Happy Reviewing!
