"I love you, Luke Danes. I love you. I love you," Kirk cries across the square.
"I love you, Luke Danes. I love you. I love you," Lorelai echoes quietly, barely making a sound. The words repeat loudly in her head as though she has no brain, just a vast expanse between her ears. As she closes her eyes, she sees them bounce in her head: Love. Luke. I. You. It's dark in the inner recesses of her head where her brain should be as the words jump back and forth like Pong.
"Hey," he says gruffly, as he walks towards the diner. Lorelai just smiles, barely, head spinning. "Caesar's inside," he says as he gets to the door. "It's freezing in here. Come on."
"I love you, Luke Danes," she says aloud. Her breath catches in her chest as he stops in the doorway. Then she blinks and takes a deep breath. The moment is only a moment, two seconds at most, before reality returns. She lifts her index finger and pokes him in the chest. "I love you. I love you," she says in her most teasing tone. And they walk in the door of the diner together.
