Chapter Five

Jealousy

"It was so weird, Ginny." Hermione was telling Ginny all about what Draco had said, as the two girls walked along the Hogwarts grounds. It was a nice beautiful sunny day.

"It was like I was dreaming or something." Hermione went on.

"He's up to something. I just know it, Mione." Ginny replied. "This is Malfoy we're talking about. Malfoy's don't just go up to people like…." her voice trailed off. "P-people like………Gryffindors… and tell them that they love them."

Hermione knew what she was trying to say.

"You mean…… people like… me?"

"No." Ginny lied.

"You don't have to lie, Ginny." Hermione said as they stopped at a tree where it was nice and shady. They now sat cross-legged under the branches of the tree.

"I just don't understand." Hermione said resting her chin in her hands. "How could this be possible?"

"Look, Hermione. Im not saying he doesn't love you but I'm not saying he really does either." Ginny said. "I said before, that I think he's up to something and I still do."

Hermione was thinking the same think. This whole situation was too weird and confusing. Hermione didn't know what to think anymore. "How could Draco Malfoy actually fall in love with someone like me." Hermione thought time and time again.

To think that Draco Malfoy would fall in love with Hermione Granger was crazy. But the more Hermione thought it may actually be true…the more it made her think it was just some trick, some ploy.

"All I'm trying to say, Hermione," Ginny was saying, causing Hermione to snap back to reality, "is that you should be really careful." she finished putting her hand on her friend's shoulder.

"Listen, Mione." Ginny added, getting up. "I've got to go. I promised Lavender I'd help her with something."

"Ok. Bye, Ginny." Hermione said watching Ginny leave. When Ginny was gone she then put her head in her hands again.

"Hey, Mione." Hermione heard a voice say. She looked up in time to find Harry walking over to her.

"Oh. Hey, Harry." she said still sitting cross-legged on the ground under the branches of the tree, her chin laying in the palm of her hands.

"Could I talk to you for a minute, Hermione?" he asked stopping in front of her.

"Yeah, sure. Have a seat." she replied lifting her head up. Harry then took a seat in front of her where Ginny once sat.

"Listen, Mione." Harry said nervously, looking down at his feet. "This is really hard to say."

Hermione's eyes widened and her mouth opened slightly. "Oh no." she thought.

"Not again."

"You remember when I told you that I don't like Cho anymore and that I might like someone else?" Harry said still not looking at Hermione.

"Yeah." Hermione answered worryingly.

"Well…What if I told you that I…. That I…"

"Oh no. Oh no. Oh no." Hermione thought.

"That I…. Well…like you, Hermione." he said finally looking at her. Hermione stared at him, wide eyed, mouth open slightly.

"Hermione?" Harry asked, looking at her weird. All Hermione could do was stare at him.

"This is not happening." She thought. "Not again."

"Harry." she finally said.

"Yes." he answered with a smile but quickly frowned at the look on Hermione's face. She had that look…..That I'm-sorry-but-I-only-like-you-as-a-friend look.

"Harry." she said again. "I dunno what to say. I love you… but only as a friend. You know I wouldn't do anything to hurt you." she said. "but I can't do this." she added getting up. "I'm sorry, Harry. I really am. I just…." she started to back up. "I just … can't do this." she turned on her heal and started to run back to the castle.

Hermione was sitting in her favorite armchair near the fire. She was trying to study but her mind kept wondering back to Draco and Harry. She was trying to avoid them for the last couple of days but it didn't seem to be working.

Just as her mind went back to her studies, she heard a knock at the portal hole.

Hermione knew Draco was in his room and didn't want him coming out to answer the door, so she quickly ran to the portal, hoping it wasn't Harry.

Hermione opened the door and gave a sign of relief.

"Oh. Good. Its you, Ginny."

"Umm… yeah. It's me. Were you expecting someone else?" Ginny said strangely.

"No, no. Come in." Hermione pointed inside. "I was just studying. Or at least… trying to." Hermione added.

"This whole Draco thing still on your mind, huh?" Ginny asked.

"Well yeah. But it's not just that anymore."

"What happened?" Ginny asked, concern in her voice.

"Follow me." Hermione said, walking into her room. She had to tell Ginny about Harry and didn't want Draco to hear.

"Listen." Hermione started as she sat cross-legged on her bed. She grabbed one of her pillows and hugged it tight.

"Yeah." Ginny said, sitting in front of Hermione on her bed.

"Well, it's about Harry." Hermione said slowly.

"What?! What about Harry?" Ginny said franticly.

"Well… he kind of…. sort of …. asked me out." she said still holding the pillow tightly.

"YOU WHORE!" Ginny screamed jumping up.

"Excuse me!" Hermione said, not believing what she just heard.

"How could you do this to me? You know I like Harry." Ginny yelled.

"I didn't do anything, Ginny." Hermione yelled back, jumping up as well.

"You are such a whore. I mean first there was Ron. Which, I didn't really care about considering he's my brother. Then there was Victor Krum, which was so unbelievably gross considering he was eighteen when you were fourteen. Now there comes Draco, which is so messed up. I mean why would he ever really love you. And now you are trying to seal Harry away from me. You are so pathetic, Hermione."

"OH THAT IS IT!" Hermione yelled, throwing the pillow down hard on the bed. "It seems to me you're the pathetic one, Ginny. I mean when are you going to get it through your fucking thick ass skull that Harry doesn't like you and he never will. You spend everyday chasing after him. Gawking and staring, but you will never get the picture. Will you?"

"I can't believe this. I can't believe you." Ginny said. "Your suppose to be my best friend. Why would you do something like this?" Ginny started to cry.

"Would you get a hold of yourself, Ginny. You are being really stupid."

Ginny didn't say anything. She was getting so mad. Her hands balled into fists at her sides. Ginny tried to punch Hermione in the face but Hermione ducked out of the way. Hermione then straightened up and kicked Ginny's legs right out from under her.

Ginny fell to the floor. She quickly got up just as Hermione pulled out her wand.

"You have to stop this non-sense, Ginny." Hermione said.

"No!" Ginny yelled. "You stole Harry away from me." More tears flooded her eyes.

"Ginny, this is really stupid. I didn't steal Harry away from you. Its not like I asked Harry to-----," Hermione started but was interrupted by Ginny who punched her in the mouth, causing it to bleed. Hermione touched her mouth where Ginny punched her, feeling the blood.

"Medulla Oblongata!" Hermione shouted. Blue sparks flew from the tip of her wand, sending Ginny flying across the room. She hit Hermione's wall. Her spine felt like it had snapped it half.

Hermione raised her wand again. She was about to yell another spell when Draco came bursting in the door. He caught sight of Ginny who was on the floor, leaning against the wall and Hermione who had her wand pointed straight at Ginny.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Medulla Oblong-----" Hermione shouted again but Draco grabbed her wrist before she could finish, causing her to mess up the spell.

"GET OFF OF ME." Hermione yelled. Using his free hand, Draco grabbed her wand and threw it on the floor. He then picked her up and threw her over his shoulder.

It was so easy for him.

"Put me down!" Hermione yelled.

Draco started to walk to his room as Hermione began to kick and scream, trying to do anything that might make him put her down.

"PUT ME DOWN!" Hermione yelled again when they got inside Draco's room. Still holding her over his shoulder, he slammed the door behind him. Then he threw Hermione onto his bed.

"Do you mind telling me what the fuck you were trying to do?" Draco yelled.

Hermione didn't say anything. She just sat there on his bed.

"Fine. Don't move. Don't get up. Just sit there." he said. He then walked back to Hermione's room. He was going to take Ginny to the Hospital Wing. When he got to her room he looked around puzzled. Ginny was nowhere in sight. She seemed to of just vanished, just upped and left.

"She's…gone." Draco whispered to himself.

A/N: This chapter was kind of a shocker for me too. It wasn't really suppose to come out like this… But it did…so I decided to just go with it. Let me know what you think. Thanks for reviewing.
