Hey, guys! This is a legend, and it's supposedly to go with the legends in Fruit's Basket, however, I do not use the characters of Fruit's Basket in this story. If otherwise satisfying to readers, I do not own Fruit's Basket.
Once upon a time long ago, there was a family cursed by the 12 animals of the Zodiac. The family often transformed into animals from the zodiac, and had no hope of getting rid of the curse.
The only hope for the family had to involve a young girl who was very pure of heart. She must climb to the top of a mountain in search for 13 small shrines in representation of the animals from rat to ox, and cat.
The first 12 shrines were nice and well-kept, however, the final shrine was broken and unkempt. The girl must sit and pray for the first 12 shrines each for 3 hours. After each prayer, the soul would come forth from the shrine and thank the girl.
But for the thirteenth, it wasn't easy. For 12 days and nights nonstop, she must pray. And then she must fix the shrine and she will be rewarded by God for freeing the souls of the animals.
And the family no longer had a curse.
