Chapter 93
Victoria and Riley sprung forward at the same time as Edward secured his grip on Bella's upper arm while she gave herself a running start to flip around him and push-kick both of them back to the end of the hallway.
Before they hit the floor, Bella and Edward were already running back up the stairs and out the front door where they witnessed the reason for their cousins absence in the basement.
Eight unknown vampires were going toe-to-toe with the members of the Denali coven, and another two had already been destroyed. It was a grim battle scene, and Bella was enraged that it had been brought upon them all because of two sadistic vampires who held no respect for anyone and prioritized their own entertainment over everything without a single thought of the consequences.
It had to stop.
She turned to Edward. "I know I haven't learned to fight yet, but we're doing this together, Edward. We're ending this. Right now."
It looked like he wanted to protest for a short moment, but then he resigned and nodded. "Fine, but if I tell you to move, you move. Okay?"
"Okay," she agreed and grabbed his hand. "We need to lead her away from this." She pointed toward a frozen lake far away from the house. "There," she said and they both ran as fast as they could in that direction.
Only a couple seconds later, they felt the change in the air as Victoria and Riley began their pursuit of them. Bella pushed herself harder to keep up with Edward who, despite her being the newborn, was still faster than all of them. However, before they reached the lake, she was pushed into the ground by Victoria who'd taken a huge leap into the air and landed on her back.
They tumbled through the snow and Bella heard Edward's step falter when he prepared to run back for her, but Riley was on his heel, so he had no choice but to engage the younger vampire in a fight before he could assist her.
Bella got on her feet and raised her eyes to the woman who'd starred in her nightmares for too long. Her flaming hair was caught by the wind and blew around her face as they locked eyes and slowly began to circle each other.

Oh no! Bella and Edward have been separated! Not good!
