Chapter 94

"You're not gonna call for help, are you?" Victoria taunted and never stopped moving. "You're one of us now. Just another blood-thirsty monster, and not some weak little human girl. No longer possessing that blood that made you so special to your lover boy."

Bella didn't respond to her. Edward had told her to not give in to her provocations, so she did her damndest to push her anger down. She wouldn't win the fight by acting irrationally.

Not that she was certain she would win at all. She had no training—the memories she had from the switch were useful in terms of strategy, but the skill wasn't there in her new body—and she was quite literally running on fumes. There had been no time for her first hunt, so she wasn't even near her strongest.

Victoria had most likely planned for that.

Still, Bella was determined to get at least one bite in even if it would be her last.

She tensed all of her muscles in preparation as Victoria's voice became nothing more than an annoying hum in the background, and she kept her eyes on every minuscule movement.

"Is your plan to talk me to death?" she said when she felt as ready as she could be, knowing the question would spur Victoria to attack.

She let out and almost adorable little giggle, which made it even more terrifying within the context of their situation. "I have to say, I do love that you've got some bite." The smile turned down until she was only baring her teeth threateningly, and without warning, she struck.

Victoria got a hold of Bella's midsection and threw her to the ground, intending on keeping her there while she tortuously slow started to remove her extremities, but she wasn't prepared for Bella's basic, but useful, knowledge of self-defense in her memories.

Using her legs to wrap them around Victoria's upper body and force her off her, Bella got the upper hand for a short moment and took advantage of it by leaning down and biting down on Victoria's shoulder, but by doing that, she gave up her strong position.

Before she could register what was about to happen, Victoria tightly grabbed the arm Bella was using to hold her down, and then used all of her strength to kick Bella off her.

Bella let out an ear-piercing scream when she felt her flesh tear apart and she landed on her back, staring at the open wound where her left arm had been.

A/N:

Bella isn't aware she's even a shield yet. She's only been a vampire for less than an hour, and even though she wasn't exactly overwhelmed when she woke up, it's still a lot to deal with when you're suddenly thrown into a fight.

Only reason she hasn't gone crazy from thirst yet is because the house in Denali is so much more isolated than the Cullens' house in Forks, and there are no tempting scents whatsoever. But, she's not at her strongest, and it's all part of Victoria's plan.

I will see you tomorrow for the next chapter so keep being you and stay awesome!
