Loyalty
Black as my heart when you fell,
A tale you'd never live to tell.
Roses are red, splattered with blood –
Stop these tears that now do flood.
You've gone through that eerie veil,
Through the archway your body did sail.
No barking laugh, no canine glory -
Just some man's forgotten story.
No more midnight escapades,
Listening to cricket's serenades.
Thrown away, but not wiped from our minds –
Loyally smitten till the end of time.
