THE BATTLE BEGINS
"Kagome!" Inuyasha abandons the well and the
confines of the mini-shrine, emerging into the moonlit park. His ears
twitch at the noise of a dog barking furiously nearby as the owner
flees at the sight of the white-haired youth.
"This isn't the
right place," he mumbles to himself. "Where am I?"
"Hold
it right there, demon!" cries a female voice in the night. Inuyasha
suddenly finds himself staring down the barrel of a Colt Government
handgun, a determined look resting firmly in the eyes of the young
blonde woman holding it.
"As a sister of the Order of
Magdalene," informs Rosette, "it's my duty to hunt down and
destroy any demons who threaten our land!"
Inuyasha's
nostrils flare and he laughs sharply. "Who are you talking about
destroying demons? I can smell one on your clothes."
Rosette
becomes flustered and stammers, "Th-that's beside the
point!"
"Ha! I've got better things to do then play with
you," he retorts before moving to leap. Fearful that the demon will
escape, Rosette fires two Sacred bullets at him. Two glowing crosses
form momentarily on his chest before their holy power slams him back
through the front wall of the shrine. Growling low, Inuyasha rises
and cracks his fingers. "A priestess, eh? Take this then. Iron
Reaver Soul Stealer!"
She screams and dives for protection
behind the well as his attack cuts through the well behind her.
Inuyasha readies for a second attack, but Rosette sends him sprawling
into the back wall with three more frantic shots.
Rising from her
hiding spot to gaze over at the stunned demon, Rosette loads the
chamber with a special Gospel bullet.
"May the lost lambs have
peace, may the wolves no longer bare their fangs, and may this demon
feel the crushing blow of dea-" Rosette's prayer is cut short by
a loud creaking sound. The old shrine, nearly decimated by the
battle, gives one final death groan before collapsing on top of the
two fighters.
THE WINNAH
When the dust settles, only Inuyasha emerges from the rubble and brushes the dust off his clothes. Nearby, Rosette lies half buried and unconscious. "Feh! You should know better than to mess with me."
