PROLOGUE / TEASER:
As usual, the western lord, Sesshomaru, was patrolling his territory boundaries, when a distant howl rang through the air.
The voice was, at first, filled with rage, and then it faded into a wail of sorrow. It was the cry of one who had fought long and hard, only to be met with failure. A tremor ran through the area, every creature that could hear that single, haunting cry was trembling, appearing to have felt the same loss or defeat. Even humans, who didn't understand the language of beasts, could sense the emotions threw the air.
Sesshomaru, curiosity peaked, raced toward the voice. Thoughts raced threw his mind: what could cause something such pain? Is there a new threat to the west? On and on, the thoughts came then went making room for yet another thought.
With the "Inu." Group.
"W-w-what w-was t-that?!" Shippo cried after hearing the howl. "You don't think it was a demon, do you. Will it try to eat us?"
"Shut up, Runt! If you don't be quiet, I'll fuckin' feed you to it myself!" snarled Inuyasha, who had been in a bad mood due to the lack of jewel shards. "Feh, it's probably, just another pathetic demon, Shippo, you coward!"
"Kagome, Inuyasha is being mean to me!" whined Shippo.
"Inuyasha, sit boy," the words spoken by Kagome are tired and calm. "Let's stay here for tonight. I'm bushed."
Without another word the group crashed, exhausted from a long day of traveling. The peace was soon shattered, however, due to the lecherous ways of Miroku. It was restored easily after Miroku crashed to the ground, out cold.
With the creature that howled
No, she thought, staring at the corps of her younger brother, Keeba. She had only been gone an hour, no more. How could this be, she thought again, anger and sorrow filling her soul, marring her scent. I must tell the others, then we can mourn properly; the gypsy way. Her thoughts were so scattered that she didn't feel the taiyoukai's approach until it was too late...
