Authors note: This is just a short episode tag to a late season 4 episode. Sorry I can't remember the name it's the one with where Rommie erases her self to save the crew, I haven't nearly done the episode or my thoughts on it enough credit but I had to try.
Dance with me
"I'm so sorry Rommie, I never meant for this to happen the program was supposed to protect you, it must have gone wrong somehow, Rommie please believe me I'd never do anything to hurt you"
"I know Harper, I know" the android repeated softly, patting him on the shoulder.
Some how the words didn't seem enough; Rommie could tell Harper want to say more but was at a loss for words she too was having trouble; she just smiled tightened her grip for a few seconds before letting go and heading off.
Rommie knew Harper would never intentionally hurt her, she was a little cross at him for installing the program without her consent, but she had already forgiven him, she knew he was only trying to protect her, and she was honoured that he cared so much as to think of the program in the first place. Although she did not love Harper the same way he loved her; she had a great deal of warmth and affection for him, and loved him in her own way, of all the crew she was perhaps closet to him.
Rommie felt a tear slip down her face she knew Harper was hurting and, she couldn't stand that, yet she didn't know what to say to ease his pain words just didn't seem enough to express the depth of her feelings, and she did not want to confuse him making him think she cared for him as he did her; that would only cause him more pain in the end.
Desperately wanting to ease Harper's pain Rommie thought back at the times she had seen her friend happy, and came across the image of Harper dancing with one of her bots, then she knew what to do. Rommie discussed her plan with Andromeda, and she agreed. Rommie slipped off to change while Andromeda searched though her database to find the perfect track.
When Rommie set her plan in motion Harper was working feverously in the machine shop; suddenly music started to play "Andromeda I didn't ask for any music" Harper said but he received no reply. The track that now filled the air was beautiful, haunting, and romantic with an air of hope; Andromeda watched as Harper set aside what he was doing to listen to the track. Rommie chose that moment to make her entrance, the doors swished open, and Harper turned before stopping all motion, by the look on his face Rommie knew she had chosen the right dress.
The outfit Rommie had chosen was a deep red strappy silk dress, split to the thigh, she'd also swept her hair up high. For once Harper was speechless so Rommie stepped in "Dance with me" she said simply, and held out her hand; Harper accepted, and they danced, and as they circled around the room Rommie glanced at her partner's face, and found what she was looking for 'a smile'.
