Chapter 9: The New Girl
A couple of weeks passed and the four girls became fast friends. In order to spend more time together, the each joined the ceramics class with Phaidra. Even thought there were about 30 minutes when they had to pay attention to the instructor, they usually had quite a bit of time afterwards to talk.
"You see the girl over there? The one with the 'Frodo Lives' shirt on?" Phaidra asked one day.
"Yeah," the other three replied.
"She's new, arrived yesterday, a Frodo fangirl."
Rachel let out a small laugh, remembering Anna. Now that a few weeks had passed, she found the fight funny.
Lotus gave Rachel a confused look, and then turned back to Phaidra. "How do you know about her?"
"When I was leaving Gaib's office yesterday, Darron was practically dragging her in. She was kicking and screaming. I don't think she wants to be here."
"Wait," Rachel said, "Why was Darron dragging her in, and what was she screaming?"
"I guess she's in Darron's hall. There were a couple of escorts helping him as well. And she was screaming something like 'Let me go! You can't do this to me! I'm incurable, I tell you, IN CURABLE! I LOVE YOU FRODO!!'"
"She sounds interesting!" Lotus said, "Let's go talk to her!"
"No!" Rachel burst out before she could stop herself. However funny she found the fight now, she was in no hurry to get into another one.
"Why not?" Phaidra asked.
"Um…I guess you could say I haven't had the friendliest experiences with Frodo fangirls."
"I'm scared of her," said Legolust, "I have Frodophobia."
The other three laughed. "Frodophobia!" Rachel exclaimed. "I like that! I'll be a Frodophobic with you and stay here. Lotus and Phaidra can go talk to her."
"Sounds spiffy to me!" Phaidra said. Then she and Lotus left.
"So, why do you have Frodophobia?" Legolust asked Rachel.
"Well, it's not really Frodophobia. It's more like, Frodofangirlaphobia. I didn't get along with the ones, well, actually one, that I've met."
Legolust laughed. "What happened?"
Rachel sighed and told her about the fight she had with Anna.
"Anna? As in Angalinananda Julienne Brandytook, Anna? Lucina's girl, Anna?" Legolust asked when Rachel was done.
"Yeah," Rachel replied, "Do you know her?"
"Oh yes. Lucina is my agent too. About time someone beat that girl up."
"Really? I haven't seen her since. Is she like that all the time?"
"Uh-huh. To her, you either love Frodo, or you're less than the dirt on her stupid bare feet."
"Wow."
"And if you love Frodo, she hates you because she thinks she's the only one with the right to love him."
"Dagnab! So, what's your reason for Frodophobia?"
"Those eyes! Those huge, evil, demonic, eyes! They scare me to death! No human has the right to have eyes like that! It's alien!"
Rachel was laughing so hard she thought she would choke.
"Yeah," Legolust said sheepishly, "it is kind of stupid."
"Oh! No, no, no, no, no!" Rachel exclaimed hurriedly, "It's not what you said, it's how you said it, and how you looked while you were saying it!"
"And how was that?"
Rachel gasped for air. "Your voice kept getting louder and louder, and your eyes kept getting bigger and bigger until there were almost the unhuman size of Frodo's!"
Legolust began laughing as she imagined what she must have looked like. The two girls were feeding off of each other's laughter, and both were doubled over, in tears, when the Lotus and Phaidra returned with the new girl.
While Legolust was the kind of person who could turn her laughter on and off with the flip of a switch, Rachel had to coach herself to stop laughing, "Composure, composure, inhale, exhale, one…two…three…breathe deep…"
"Lotus, I think we missed something," Phaidra said a bit sarcastically.
"Yes, Phaidra, I do believe we did," Lotus replies, even more sarcastically. There was complete silence. "And now would be a good time to tell us what we missed!" she added.
Rachel and Legolust both started laughing again. The only words the other three girls could make out were "fight", "eyes", "reason", and "Frodophobia".
"Frodophobia?" The new girl said questioningly, "That is very rude. Especially seeing as how I am a Frodo fangirl."
"We're sorry," Rachel said, clutching her side, "It has nothing to do with you. I don't even know you! Sorry if you were offended."
"No need for apology," the new girl replied.
"So, who are you anyway?" Legolust asked.
"Arwenfrodogurl," the new girl answered.
"But we're just going to call her Arwen," Phaidra informed them.
"And Gaib's your agent?" Rachel asked.
"Correct," Arwen said.
"Lucky," Legolust, Lotus, and Rachel said.
"Why?" Arwen asked.
"Are you serious?" Lotus exclaimed.
Arwen nodded.
"My gosh!" Rachel cried, "In the name of all that is sacred, give Gaib to someone who cares!"
"Or give me her session with him in addition to mine!" Phaidra suggested.
"Ah-ha, ah-ha-ha-ha….no!" Lotus replied half-mockingly.
"Well," said Arwen, "I suppose if this counseling thing actually works, I'll come to understand what is so special about Gaib, in time."
"Wow," Rachel said, "If you don't think Gaib is hot, you've got it bad."
"Yeah," said Legolust, "You'll fit right in!"
End of chapter 9
I've decide not to do anymore fangirl dairy entries…unless one or two more of Rachel's.
And…wow, I don't really have anything to say at the end of this one! How odd…I wonder if I'm coming down with something?
