What I want to say
I lighten the pressure on Rhode's chest. Terrified, horror stricken, and appalled at what I had done. I look into his eyes and I can't see any emotion, I can see that he knows I was not purposely hurting him. He reaches up and I hope for a second that he will cup my cheek and tell me it's okay, before I banish the thought. Instead he unzips a little of my coat; I force myself to keep my imagination in check. His thumb brushes the little bit of armour that is showing, then he looks at me questioningly.
I get up and help him up, and then I flee toward my room. Where I roll onto my bed and try to hold back my tears. Last time I cried was when we left my mother when I was six or seven, I couldn't remember. I fail and let myself cry to sleep.
I hear him come in and sit behind me on my bed. He pulls a blanket from the foot of my bed up to tuck me in. As he does this he gently tells me how he wants to tell me something when we're both awake, but he never can. "You are so beautiful when you sleep. Good night my love." With that, he leaves my room.
"I love you to, my Telemachus."
