Author's Notice: All dialogue. Sixth year. James/Lily, you people just eat 'em up! I've done a lot of Remus/Lily's lately so here's me taking one for the team. Fate. James/Lily.
I'm lifting you up
I'm letting you down
I'm dancing til dawn
I'm fooling around
I'm not giving up
I'm making your love
This city's made us crazy and we must get out
Maroon Five, Must Get Out, from the CD: Songs about Jane
"Lily."
"Yes?"
"It's James."
"I know it's James. Get out. This is the girls' dormitory."
"I heard Lucius just broke up with you, he's just a prat."
"How do you know?"
"Word travels fast around Hogwarts."
"Did you hear me? Get out."
"So why'd he do it?"
"Do what?"
"Why'd he break up with you?"
"It's not any of your business, Mister.Potter."
"Why isn't anyone here trying to make you feel better?"
"I scared them all off."
"You can't scare me off, Lily."
"I can try."
"It won't work."
"Oh, don't know about that."
"You cry a lot."
"Do you ever cry...James?"
"Once we lost the big game and I was pretty miserable."
"It wasn't your fault, Kyson couldn't score that day. March twenty first, yeah."
"You remember?"
"Well, yeah, of course I was there."
"I didn't see you."
"You never see me, James."
"I saw you crying."
"Oh sorry, correction then. You see only me whenever I mess up."
"That's not true. I've always noticed you Lily."
"Join the club."
"I've liked you for a very long time, Evans."
"You have?"
"Yeah, I have."
"Sweet of you. Did Sirius tell you to tell me that to try to make me feel better? It's not working."
"It's true."
"James Potter liking Lily Evans, doubtful."
"Sirius didn't tell me anything. God, Evans, are you always so disbeliving?"
"Give me a break."
"All I do is give you a break. Everyone here thinks you're some untouchable little you-know-what, who hangs out with the Slytherins because you're a loser. But I don't think so, and I say so."
"I hang out with Slytherins because I despise Gryffindors. Because when you're with Slytherins you can be yourself. Because of Lucius."
"But you can hang out with us now, because Lucius is gone..."
"Sirius, Peter, Lupin...you. The marauders."
"Yeah. We're pretty cool, you know. We have a good time. You can hang with us."
"I don't...have anyone now, not anymore, those Slytherins stick together, maybe...yeah. That might be nice."
"Wanna come back to the common room? I have to get started on my potions homework."
"I think I'll stay up here for a bit longer, thank you."
"No problem. Well, I'll see you around, Evans."
"I'll be seeing more of you, Potter. And thanks...a lot."
"I could beat up that Lucius fellow..."
"...except he'd kill you."
"Ha. He's not as strong as he thinks he is."
"James, silly, you're gangly."
"I am not gangly!"
"Go do you homework...bye."
"If you ever need anything, just talk to me, I've got you covered. See you."
"You don't have to do all of this."
"You think I don't know that? But maybe, just maybe, I'm doing it because I want to and I'm a pretty decent human being?"
"Doubtful. Bye."
"Can I leave now?"
"Yeah."
"Bye."
End.
