Love at first sight

It was a beautiful summer's day. The sun was warm and bright, the few clouds that floated in the cerulean sky were like puffy marshmallows. All around me there was beauty. The songs of the birds in the trees made me feel as though I were in a place not dissimilar to heaven. It was on this day that I saw him.

He was a priest, tall and quite handsome, his pale brown hair falling softly over his right eye. I watched him as he strode down the path. He caught me looking at him and smiled. I suddenly felt nervous as he approached. Without thinking twice, I turned around and bolted down the path, my cheeks stained with red.

"Wait! Come back! Don't run away!"

He was much faster than me and caught up easily. His long legs carried him swiftly, and before I realized it, he was blocking my path.

"What's the matter? I just wanted to be your friend!"

I followed his hand with my eyes, observing as he pulled something out of his pocket.

"Here...this is for you."

A stared at the object in his palm. It was round, shiny and green. I knew immediately what it was. I smiled at him and took the gift from his hand, trying to think of words to thank him.

I didn't object when he pulled my into his arms and held me tightly. I gazed into his eyes, which were like two orbs of Lapis Lazuli. Such a lovely color...I could spend a whole lifetime staring...

"Would you like to join me on my travels? I often feel a bit lonely and I could use a friend to keep me company."

I nodded and smiled.

Yes...I will...I would he honored to travel with you...I would follow you anywhere...
