An hour later, Kel walked downstairs, in search of breakfast. She had
practiced twice as long that morning to try and shake off her confusing
dream. It had not helped one bit. When she entered the dining room it was
empty except for one person.
Of course the gods have a sick sense of humor.
Dom greeted his old friend through a mouthful of oatmeal. Kel slid into the seat across from him, not quite meeting his eyes, as if afraid that the dream would become reality of she looked too long.
"Ar yeo goein tou der eggerbicion metc?"
"Sorry?"
Dom swallowed his mouthful and continued, "Are you going to the exhibition match?" Kel grunted, "I kind of have to, seeing as I'm in it."
Dom looked confused, "But I thought it was only going to be a match between the squires-"
"Yes, well that was all it was supposed to be it" Kel glared upstairs to where she knew her knight-master was sleeping. "Until my Lord got involved. You would think he had enough to do, getting married tomorrow. "
Dom grinned. "What did you do?"
Kel feigned a look of offense. "I didn't do anything! I just suggested that instead of his knights uniform, that my lord should wear the robes for a nobles wedding."
Dom started laughing. He could only imagine how Raoul would look in those over stuffed, hot, and itchy traditional robes.
"I take it my Lord didn't like that idea."
"Let's just say, he looked ready to give as a peek at what he ate for breakfast that morning." Kel said, allowing a grin to cross her face. "So he commissioned my mother, Queen Thayet, Princess Shinkokami, and me to give a glaive exhibition match. In honor of the lady Yuki he claims."
Dom laughed. Kel felt the familiar pang in the pit of her stomach that reminded her of her unsettling dream that night. In any excuse to get away from the cause of her troubles, Kel excused herself and went out in search of Peachblossom. She paused at the door to the inn, and turned to see Dom watching her with an odd expression on his face. Feeling the need to say something to get him to stop looking at her like that, Kel quickly asked him if he was going to go see the exhibition.
Dom's face went immediately into an evil grin. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
