Walking a Mile

Chapter 1- Prologue

A/N-ok, I got tired of my last fic, it was too unoriginal, so I am starting a new one! If you read my last one, the whole 2 chapters, then will you please read this one too?? R/R!

Disclaimer: I only own the stuff you don't recognize! Which is not much. Please don't sue! I have no money! 

Myra Linton was Lily Evans's best friend. She had long, beautiful, blonde hair that almost sparkled in the sunlight. Her huge smoke hazel eyes combined with a pert little nose, full lips, and small freckles made her the beauty of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, of which she and Lily attended.

Arabella Figg, Lily Evans's second best friend, had curly red brown hair cropped short so it only reached her chin. She had dark brown eyes that slanted slightly, emphasizing her dimples when she smiled. She was short, but that combined with her prominent freckles, (unlike Myra's) made her the cutest and most loved girl in the school.

Dinah Mandrake, the third of the four best friends that made up half of Gryffindor Tower's seventh year, had naturally straight dirty blonde hair, but it was usually dyed blue. Her bright blue green eyes were always kindled with a sparkle of laughter, though she rarely laughed out loud. Dinah, or "Dye" as she liked to be called, was the most athletic of the four resulting in strong muscles that told people that although she looked easily pushed around, she was no one to mess with.

Lily Evans was not like her beautiful friends. Instead of a tinkling laugh, hers was more like that of a braying donkey. Rather than long legs and a graceful step, she was short and very clumsy. Her hair was orange. It did not sparkle in the sunlight, or have cute curls, but hung down her back in straight strands. Very boring.

This was Lily Evans. The one usually ignored in the midst of her beautiful and clever friends. (Not that she was not clever, oh no. But she was not clever in the sense that she knew how to respond automatically with something witty and flirty in the presence of the guys. If she wanted to say something like that, she had to plan at least a quarter of an hour in advance.) While her friends were out on dates, Lily Evans would stay in the dorm and do her homework. While her friends were doing homework, Lily Evans would be in the library, researching things that she had no plans of ever using. While her friends flirted with the most popular boys in school, the Marauders, Lily Evans would stand in the back ground and admire the flowers, and the trees, and the lake, anything but the people in front of her.

This was Lily Evans.
