Ch10: decisions
Daniel walked as fast as he could to the infirmary. Share was slowly gaining consciousness and opened her eyes.
"D..Daniel?" Sha're whispered. Daniel tried to smile.
"Yeah, Sha're. It's me," Daniel said quietly. He didn't know what else to say to her. Last time he saw her she was pregnant with Apophis' baby. It took him a month to get over that. Daniel finally reached the infirmary and lay Sha're on one of the empty beds. Dr. Frasier joined them.
"Colonel O'Neill called me and told me what happened," Janet explained as she walked up to the couple. She pulled out her stethoscope and turned to Sha're. "How are you feeling? Do you know where you are?" Janet asked as she checked Sha're heartbeat.
"Yes, I remember everything. I feel fine," Sha're explained. She then looked up at Daniel who was standing next to the bed. "She did this for you," Sha're said.
"Are you talking about Natalie?" Daniel asked, crossing his arms. This was getting more confusing by the minute for the poor guy.
Sha're nodded. "Natalie made a deal with Amaunet so that I can be free. She promised Amaunet knowledge about the future. She did it so that you can be happy to have me back," Sha're explained. Daniel didn't know what to say.
'She did this for me? Did she think I would be happy without her around? What do I do now with Sha're?' Daniel thought to himself. He was torn between losing Nat and gaining Sha're. Janet saw that Daniel was going through a lot.
"Daniel, I need to examine Sha're to see how she's going. Why don't you see Colonel O'Neill? I'm sure there's things you all need to discuss," Janet hinted as a way for Daniel to leave the room. Daniel nodded in compliance.
"Sha're I'll be back very soon okay?" Daniel said. He kissed Sha're on the forehead and left the room. Daniel walked towards his study but ran into Jack, Martouf and Jacob, who were heading for the infirmary.
"Hey Dan. How's Sha're doing?" Jack asked. Daniel looked like he wasn't even listening.
"She seems fine. She said that Nat offered a trade of hosts with Amaunet so that I can be happy to have Sha're free," Daniel explained in a monotone voice.
"She did this for you? We should try the extraction again. If they have just blended, there's probably more of a chance for the extraction to be successful. We know Nat would still be fighting Amaunet," Jacob explained. Martouf nodded.
Daniel looked angry. "And what? You thought Sha're had given up fighting, so you aborted the extraction!?" Daniel yelled.
Jack jumped in the middle and waved his arms up in the air. "Whoa Danny! Time out! I'm sure Jacob didn't mean it like that! Did you Jacob?" Jack turned to Jacob and glared. Jacob shook his head. "Okay, why don't we all go back to the infirmary with the others and see how Sha'res going, okay?" Jack suggested. Daniel didn't move.
"Jack, I don't think I can," Daniel said quietly, as if he were ashamed of his words.
Jack looked at him with a confused look. "Why not? It's Sha're. You've been looking for her for years!" Jack argued. Jacob and Marty stood quietly and listened to the conversation that was taking place.
"I just need some time to think," Daniel said. With that he turned around and continued to head for his study. Sam was waiting outside Daniel's study.
"Sam."
"Daniel, can we talk?" Sam asked, gesturing for Daniel to enter the study. Daniel shrugged and continued on into the room. Sam followed Daniel and sat opposite him at his desk.
"Daniel, please tell me what's on your mind."
"I should be happy to see Sha're. Last time when Teal'c and I got back from Abydos after seeing Sha're pregnant, I felt like I'd truly lost her. And I mourned because I felt like I was never going to see her again. When Nat came along, I felt like I'd truly gotten over losing Sha're. And now she's back. I don't know what to do. Add that to the girl I like sacrificing herself so I can be happy. But did she ever consider that I would be unhappy without her around?" Daniel muttered. "In a nutshell, I'm torn between having Sha're back and the devastation of losing Nat."
"With Nat, we'll work it out. Dad thinks he might be able to get the symbiote out this time. As for Sha're and your feelings between yourself and Nat, you just have to figure out who you are going to be happier with," Sam explained. "But for now, hang out with Sha're and see if those old feelings spark up again, okay?" Sam got up off her chair and held out her hand so Daniel would follow.

Frasier took Hammond aside so that Sha're couldn't hear what She was saying. "Well general, Sha're is physically fine," Janet explained. "But it's her psychological damage I'm more worried about. She's been possessed by another being, and I don't know hat sort of affect that can have on a person." Janet explained.
"Keep monitoring her. I'll have the psychologist talk to her in the morning," Hammond explained.
Daniel and Sam entered the room.
"Daniel!" Sha're smiled.
Daniel managed a smile. "How are you feeling Sha're?" Daniel asked as he hugged her.
"I'm good. Daniel, you promised me one day I could see your world. Can you take me?" Sha're asked.
"Yeah. I'll take you tomorrow okay?" Daniel smiled. Frasier said that the wanted to keep Sha're overnight just incase. Everyone bid their farewells to Sha're and left the room to continue on with their duties.
"Sam, what were you planning to do now?" Martouf asked as they left the room together.
"Well, I've been working on something, but did you want to get some dinner?" Sam asked. Jack overheard.
"Yeah, that's a good idea Carter. Let's all go have dinner together," Jack replied cheerily as he put his arms around the shoulders of Sam and Marty. Teal'c also commented on his hungriness. Sam rolled her eyes and looked at her dad in a 'help me' look. Daniel remained in the infirmary with Sha're.
"Do you want something to eat Sha're?" Daniel asked. Sha're shook her head and said she felt a little queasy. Frasier mentioned earlier that there was a possibility that Sha're would suffer from posttraumatic stress syndrome now that she is free.
Daniel sat with Sha're until she fell asleep then left the room. He wasn't really hungry. He had too much on his mind. He walked past the mess hall and decided that he needed to talk to Nat/Amaunet first before joining the others.
Daniel reached the lockup that Nat was in. There were two young guards at the door.
"I want to see the prisoner," Daniel commanded. The two soldiers stood their ground.
"Sorry Dr Jackson. Colonel O'Neill said no-one is allowed to enter without his permission," One of the guards explained. Daniel got aggravated and told them to call Jack for permission.
"He's in the mess hall," Daniel explained. The guard nodded and called the mess hall with the phone on the wall. A few minutes later he hung up the phone and allowed Daniel into the room.
"Colonel O'Neill said to tell you to stay away from the bars sir," the guard explained.
Nat/Amaunet was lying on the bed against the wall. Daniel cleared his throat to get her attention. "Something on your mind, pet?" Nat/Amaunet asked.
"Yeah. I want to talk to Natalie," Daniel replied. Nat/Amaunet stood up. She leaned casually against the bars.
"Why do you petty humans always ask that? You should have learnt by now that nothing of the host survives," Amaunet replied. Daniel looked at her angrily.
"That's a lie and you know it! Sha'res alive!" Daniel yelled.
Amaunet smiled. It hurt Daniel to see Nat smile so wickedly. "You know it is an interesting feeling being in the mind of this 'Tauri girl. She knows a lot about how the mind works and of what you call psychology. No doubt your precious Sha're will wither away with what you call 'post-traumatic stress syndrome'. So yes Daniel Jackson, Nothing of the host survives." Amaunet replied.
"Shut up. I want you to release Natalie," Daniel ordered. Amaunet leaned on the bars, draping her arms between the bars.
"Now why would I do that? I have gained much knowledge and a newer, younger body. A body that you will never hold again. You'll never get to finish that kiss that ended so abruptly.." Amaunet said devilishly.
Daniel didn't like to be provoked. "Shut up." Daniel growled. He grabbed the bars with his hands with such ferocity that it grabbed the attention of the guards outside. "Natalie, fight this! I know you're in there! I know you did this for me, but u didn't think about how I'm going to live without you here..." Daniel drifted off.
"Natalie says sorry," Amaunet whispered, with a sincere look on her face. She then backed away from the bars with a confused look on her face.
Daniel perked up with hope. "Natalie, keep fighting this. Please just hold on.. for me!" Daniel pleaded.
Amaunet's eyes glowed as she backed away from the bars. "Tell the shol'va Tok'ra that if they try remove me from this body, I will kill the host. I have nothing more to say to you." Amaunet waved her hand in a dismissive way and sat back down on the bed.
Daniel walked out trying to hold onto a shred of hope that Nat was fighting Amaunet. That was one dilemma over with (sort of), but he didn't know how he felt about Sha're anymore.
**authors notes: so watcha think about how the story is going. Sorry to all u share lovers, but she just shits me in the series! (she was good in the movie). Also im trying hard to include all the other ppl in the story, but its always going to be centralized around DJ and Nat. don't 4get to review!**
**Authors notes: I got 2 reviews today that told me that this whole time I'd been spelling Apophis, Sha're, Chulac, etc all wrong!! Y didn't any1 tell me! Lol well I have 2 huuuuge essays due next wk, so after im thru with those 2 bad boys I'm gonna go back and fix all the spelling, then get a start on ch11.. oh it's gonna get good (well I hope u guys will think it's good). So just sit tite and keep watching this space cz over the Easter holls I'm hoping to write at LEAST another 4 chapters (I hope!). p.s if u add ma story to ur 'fave stories' thingy, u'll get updates on when I've added the new chapters! ;)

Just one little thing that's bugging me, is the spelling of some of the character names... eg, Apophis, not Hapophis... try the Omnipedia at w.gateworld.net for an excellent resource. Keep up the good work.]
