That day Teal'c and Jack took Nat home. She tried to go talk to Daniel before leaving the SGC but Jack told her that Daniel had already gone home. Jacob also hitched a ride in Jack's car because he'd agreed to stay at Jack's place for the night. Martouf decided to stay at Sam's side at the SGC. Jack then offered to stay as well but Janet said he was ordered to go home.
Jack dropped off Teal'c and Nat at their apartment building and they made their way up the elevator in silence. Teal'c wasn't much of a talker and Nat wasn't in the mood to talk. She was glad it was Teal'c who lived across the hall from her. If she needed any help she knew he would be able to protect her.
"Natalie Manslow, we are here. If you need any further assistance from me, my room is just here," Teal'c explained, pointing to the door behind him. Natalie nodded and went into her apartment. He looked at her watch. 10:30pm. She flicked on the TV and watched some show called Buffy. Her parents talked about it when she was little but she'd never seen it herself.
"BORING!" Nat yawned to herself and turned off the TV. She was so tired that she didn't even remember getting into bed.
She dreamt of the day before the Goul'd arrived. Nat sat in Daniel's study. Daniel hadn't arrived yet from his meeting with Cassandra Frasier, but she waited anyway. She walked next to the bookshelf and noticed that there was something different about his study, but she couldn't figure it out.
"Oh Nat, you're here! Sorry I'm late!" Elderly Daniel smiled as he entered the room. He plonked his old brown bag on the table next to Nat. Daniel walked to his desk and picked up a book that was left open. He put it in the draw of his desk and sat down. "So how have you been?" Daniel smiled. Before Nat could answer, the phone rang. Daniel picked it up, muttered 'I'll be right there,' and hung up. "Sorry Nat, stay here and I'll be back in a tik," Daniel said before walking out of the room. Nat waited until Daniel left the room. She counted to ten to make sure he wasn't still around before getting up. She walked around the desk and opened the drawer.
"Time travel theories?" Nat said aloud as she read the title of the book. 'What on Earth is Daniel doing with a time travel book?' She thought to herself. Nat could hear someone walking towards the study and she ran back to her seat. Daniel walked back into the room with a shocked look on his face. "Daniel? What happened?"
"We just got word that the Goul'd are attacking. We've gotta go."
As Nat walked out she realized what was so different about Daniel's study. Two of his journals were gone.
Next thing she knew she was seeing through Sha'res eyes. She saw the hurt look in Daniel's eyes when he saw Sha're was pregnant. She saw the way Daniel smiled at Sha're when he first met her. She saw how Daniel held Sha'res hand in his and rubbed his thumb up and down the back of her hand. He had a slight smile that appeared on the side of his mouth. His glasses were off and his eyes were as blue as the sky. Nat felt the warmth of Daniel's lips on her own. She felt the sensations that Sha're felt when Daniel touched her leg. When she pulled out of the kiss, her eyes were still closed. When she opened them, she didn't see Daniel. Instead, Apophis was looking back at her. She felt the pain and violating feeling that Sha're felt when Amaunet forced her to sleep with Apophis. Sha're wanted to scream but the words wouldn't come out. She cried inside as Amaunet used Sha're like her body was a puppet. The feeling of uselessness made Nat's chest hurt. She wanted to scream for Apophis to get off her, She wanted to scream for Amaunet to get out of her head.
The next thing Nat knew, she was woken up by Teal'c. "Natalie, wake up. You have been dreaming," Teal'c said quietly as he shook Nat's shoulder. She opened her eyes and saw Teal'c sitting on the edge of her bed.
"Teal'c? What are you doing here?" Nat mumbled as she sat up. Teal'c had already turned on the lamp so the light momentarily hurt Nat's eyes.
"O'Neill gave me keys to your apartment because he thought you looked like the type of person who would forget where you put them. I used them to open your apartment because I could hear you yelling from my apartment. I thought you might be in trouble, but when I came in, I found out that you were having a nightmare," Teal'c explained.
"Jack gave you a set of keys to my apartment?" Nat asked.
"Would you have preferred me to kick the door down, Natalie?" Teal'c smiled. Nat smiled back.
"Nah, keep the keys. Could you really hear me yelling? I know I was having a nightmare but-" Nat drifted off. "It was so horrible. I had Sha'res memories of helplessness. She went through so much more suffering than I could have imagined. And I saw it. She wanted to scream and scream, but the feeling of not having control of your own body is frightening!" Nat cried. Then Teal'c did something that surprised Nat. Teal'c moved closer to Nat and hugged her. She was so surprised at the sudden burst of sympathy that she jolted a little, but Teal'c only hugged her tighter. Her head rested on Teal'c muscley shoulder. Teal'c waited until Nat fell asleep before laying her down and leaving the room. When Teal'c left Nat's apartment, he saw Daniel leaning on the wall outside Nat's apartment.
"How's she going?" Daniel asked. "I heard the yelling so I came down to see if she was okay."
"Natalie had experienced a nightmare brought on by one of Sha'res memories. She is now sleeping," Teal'c explained. "How are you feeling Daniel Jackson?"
"Honestly, I don't know Teal'c. I feel guilty that I wanted to be with Natalie more than Sha're, but at the same time I don't know how Nat is going to react to me, now that she's got Sha'res memories," Dan mumbled as he ruffled his own hair.
Teal'c thought for a moment. "Natalie has shown persistence to talk to you all day. Perhaps tomorrow morning you should spend the day with her," Teal'c recommended. He walked up to Daniel and handed him the keys to Natalie's apartment.
