Chapter Five – Déjà vu

Yoh looked around Osorezan Mountain as his past memories flooded back to him. How he saved Anna by defeating the oni with Matamune. How Anna had said that she loved him. How Matamune helped him. Yoh gritted his teeth when he thought about Matamune.

"This time I don't have Matamune helping me... Nor is there Hao to bring Matamune back. AND being the idiot I am, I didn't even bring Amidamaru or anyone else along to help me," Yoh thought, "I guess I'm alone this time."

To comfort himself, he touched the precious object in his pocket.

"After this, I'm going to ask her... Just after this... It's only going to be a few moments... You can wait Yoh," he thought to himself. Then, Yoh looked up to see a large dark figure. He tried to make out what it was. When he realized what he had been looking at was an oni, his eyes widened.

"I knew there would be an oni, but why am I feeling so afraid?" The oni smiled and came closer to the frozen Yoh, close enough for the shaman to see him clearly.

"Isn't this like déjà vu? You, me, and mother here in Osorezan mountain together. Asakura Yoh. It's been a long 7 years and I've come back for revenge," the oni said. Yoh got back to his sense and narrowed his eyes.

"Where is Anna?" It was the only thing on Yoh's mind as he looked at the oni laugh. Instead of who he was looking at, a female voice answered Yoh's question.

"Right here. Close enough to see you suffer. Close enough to laugh at your pain," Anna stepped out of the shadows, "Close enough to see you die."

Yoh couldn't help but feel relieved. He knew he was in a tight situation and he knew that Anna was here to see him die, but he felt relieved; relieved that she was ok.

"A-Anna! Hear me out first! Wait... First, are you ok?! Are you harmed?! I-"Yoh was cut off when a punch nearly hit him. He looked up at Anna.

"You should think of yourself. I'm not the one who's going to get killed. I'll hear you out only if you can talk while fighting my oni."

Yoh inwardly sighed. "If that is the only way she'll listen to me, that's the only way I can take," he thought as he dodged yet another punch from the oni. He kept dodging the oni's attacks as he shouted to Anna.

"Anna! I didn't mean to kiss that girl! She-She kissed me! I actually wanted my first kiss to be with you! I'm sorry Anna! But if I die now, who's going to make you Funbari Onsen?!" Yoh knew he was saying embarrassing things but he didn't care as long as Anna would feel something. She did feel things but she denied it.

"LIES! ALL LIES! YOU JUST WANT TO LIVE! YOU JUST WANT TO CONFUSE ME! FUNBARI ONSEN? HA! I KNOW YOU JUST WANT TO SET UP SOME SHAMAN SCHOOL FOR YOUSELF YOH!" Anna shouted at him. She thought that she felt nothing for him anymore but strangely, saying those things made her pained. The oni sensed this.

"My existence won't be long. I'll have to kill him off quickly," it thought as it increased its speed and power. Yoh was taken a little back by the oni's sudden burst of speed and couldn't evade fast enough. The oni's hand come in contact with Yoh's left arm. Yoh could feel immense pain going through him as he gritted his teeth and moved out of the way. He looked up at Anna to see a flicker of worry in her eyes.

"I still have a chance!" he thought as he quickly ran towards her.

"Anna! I'll give up my dream for you! I'm not lying! I'll do anything, Anna! ANYTHING! Please! I love you!"

Anna's eyes widened at the three words just spoken by her fiancé. He loved her and he said it with a voice so full of sincerity. The oni could feel his power slowly fading has he threw his most powerful punch in Yoh's direction. Yoh evaded but he forgot one thing, Anna. She was in front of him, meaning she would take the hit. Anna could do nothing as she saw the oni's hand coming towards her. She was shocked that the oni did not stop and did the only thing she felt that she could do at the moment. She screamed.

"ANNA!!" Yoh shouted, alerted by her scream. He ran towards her as fast as he could. He pushed her away just as the oni's fist hit him full force.

"YOH!!"

I am HORRIBLE at writing anything 'action', forgive me for the crappy action between Yoh and oni. Yes, it is a cliffhanger. Sorry, sorry. Uhh... This is the LAST CHAPTER of Déjà vu.
