Lily was sitting at a table in the Gryffindor common room working on her Astronomy homework. It was a perfectly normal night.
That is, it was until her best friend Kalsie leapt down the staircase from the girls' dormitory shouting, "SPOONS!" and at the exact same moment, Sirius Black came flying down the boys' stairs yelling, "FOR JELLYFISH!" They reached the bottom of the staircases at precisely the same time. Everyone in the common room was gawking at them. Kalsie and Sirius both donned top hats and picked up canes, that music that you always hear at the beginning of a dancing performance was heard, and they both tapdanced out through the portrait hole.
Someone gave a cough that sounded a lot like the word "pineapple." Lily turned on some fourth years and asked if they had charmed Sirius and Kalsie.
"No, miss, we is learning about Summoning Charms, yes we is," responded the fourth years in squeaky unison, suddenly wearing tea towels over their robes.
Lily sat back down, somewhat in shock, and was about to return to the properties of dust from Mercury when she noticed James Potter standing on a platform that had previously not existed on the other side of the room. He was wearing a tailcoat and enormous purple galoshes and seemed to be preparing to make some sort of speech.
Lily rose and srode across the room to tell him off. However, she was only halfway there when a rat scurried across her path. When it was directly in front of her, the rat stopped and changed abruptly into Peter Pettigrew, who then ate a Peppermint Toad.
Lily watched as Remus came lunging in slow motion (which was odd, because the rest of the room was functioning at a perfectly normal speed) towards them, collided with Peter, and moaned (still in slow-mo), "Nooooooooooo! That was the last of the grape Kool-Aid!" Lily once again made to sit down, but this time was interrupted when someone said, "Fortissimo!" and the whole common room, except Lily, cried, "SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!" and stampeded up their respective staircases.
Lily shrugged, walked to the middle of the now empty room, sat cross-legged on the floor, and began to meditate. Just as she remembered to hum, she woke up.
