chapter 2
It had been a few months since Heatwave and Quickshadow had bonded and they were very happy and having a good life. They loved each other very much and were enjoying every minute of being bonded. They wondered if they could be any happier.
Well life does a little crazy something to show them there is still much for them to see.
Quickshadow was feeling bad for the past few mornings, she was tired, sore breast plates and was very moody. "Are you okay darling?" Heatwave asked her.
"I am not sure I just don't feel like myself," Quickshadow said.
"You haven't been yourself either," Heatwave said. "I think it would be a good idea to let Blades take look he is a medic," he said.
Quickshadow came up to Blades to see if he could find out what was wrong. She told him she wasn't feeling like herself lately. Blades was talking to Ratchet at the moment. "Okay then let's take a look," Blades said.
Ratchet decided to help with the exam.
"Hmm that looks right," Blades said. "You are very healthy," he said.
"Yes, you are healthy as a horse as the humans say," Ratchet said. Ratchet had a thought and did a special scan.
"Why are you scanning me again?" Quickshadow asked.
"I have a feeling I may know what is going on," Ratchet said.
"I think I know just what you are thinking," Blades said.
Then after the scan Ratchet looked at the results on the scanner. "Yes just like I thought," Ratchet said with a smile.
"I had a feeling about that too," Blades said looking at the results.
"Well what are the results?" Quickshadow asked.
"Quickshadow you are pregnant," Ratchet said.
"Pregnant, you mean Heatwave and I are going to have a sparkling?" Quickshadow asked.
"Yes," Ratchet said.
"You sure are," Blades said.
"This is great, but I am a little worried about this even though I am super happy and excited about it," Quickshadow said.
"It's okay Quickshadow this is a normal thing to feel," Ratchet said.
"I am going to go tell Heatwave," Quickshadow said and she went to go find Heatwave. She started to search for him and was hoping to find him. She saw him practicing his martial arts.
He saw her come in. "Hey Quickshadow you want to spar darling? You are really good at it," Heatwave said.
"Actually Heatwave I want to talk to you about something," Quickshadow said.
Heatwave came down to talk to her. "So what is it is everything alright?" Heatwave asked.
"Everything is fine Heatwave," Quickshadow said.
"Then let's spar," Heatwave said.
"Actually Heatwave I don't think that is a good idea, I just saw the medics and I am in no condition for sparring," Quickshadow said.
"Are you alright? Is something seriously wrong with you?" Heatwave asked he was worried.
"No, I'm perfectly alright," Quickshadow said. Then she took Heatwave's hand and placed it on her middle. "Pretty soon there will be a very special little bot in our lives," she said.
Heatwave gasped and looked at Quickshadow's middle where his hand was and was just in shock and amazement. "Really?" Heatwave asked.
"Yes," Quickshadow said.
Then Heatwave hugged Quickshadow and kissed her. "This is the best news ever," Heatwave said picking her up and spinning around. Then he set her down. "I can't believe it a sparkling of our own," he said. "This is so exciting," he said. "We got to tell the other rescue bots, Optimus and the Burns family and the Greene family too." he said.
"Yes," Quickshadow said. "All of Griffin Rock should know," she said.
They called the bots, Burns and Greene family to the bunker. "What do they want to tell us?" Kade asked.
"We have to wait and find out Kade," Graham said.
Heatwave and Quickshadow came up. "Okay Quickshadow and I have some wonderful news," Heatwave said.
"Well what is it?" Dani asked.
"Yes what is going on?" Blurr asked.
"Yes Big red what is going on with you and the missus?" High tide asked.
"Well let's tell them Quickshadow," Heatwave said.
"I'm going to have a sparkling," Quickshadow said.
"Congratulations," the bots said.
"What is a sparkling?" Kade asked.
"A sparkling in Cybertronian terms is what you humans call a baby for our species," Ratchet said.
"So a sparkling is a baby bot?" Graham asked.
"Yes," Boulder said.
"Sparklings when born from the well have tend to have no family when ones born to two bots have family, sparklings born to two bots gain many looks from the parents such as color but they get a color unique just to them," Ratchet said.
"Wow," the humans said.
"So when is the sparkling coming?" Cody asked.
"It won't come for many months by my calculations the sparkling won't be born until sometime in Mid to late November." Ratchet said. "So plenty of time to get ready for the sparkling around here." he said.
"That's great," Dani said.
"So is it a boy or a girl?" Frankie asked.
"It is impossible to tell right now we have to wait for a few weeks before we can do a Cybertronian ultrasound to find out," Ratchet said. "So we just have to be patient." he said.
Then a bit later the residents of Griffin Rock were told about the sparkling and what is was and how happy Heatwave and Quickshadow were.
"Wow a baby bot," said Hayley.
"How wonderful," Jerry said.
"Amazing," Mrs. Rubio said.
"This is incredible our rescue bots going to welcome a new generation of their species," Huxley said.
"Well this is big," Mayor Luskey said.
Everyone in town was super excited and wanted to help.
Heatwave and Quickshadow were amazed by how much help they would be getting.
They began to plan and get ready for the sparkling. They selected an area in the bunker to be the nursery for the sparkling on Griffin Rock. They also had a small unused room at the training center and used that as a nursery too for when the sparkling was going to be at the mainland.
There was so much to do. The bots were all helping. As were the humans.
Quickshadow was getting a check up from Ratchet who was going to stay for a while until sometime after the sparkling was born.
Ratchet was doing an ultrasound. "Everything is looking good Quickshadow you and your sparkling are doing fine. The sparkling is very healthy," Ratchet told her.
"That's good to hear my little poppet is doing alright," Quickshadow said with a smile.
They continued to prepare for the sparkling. The nursery was almost ready. Boulder made a bassinet and crib for the sparkling.
Salvage made a special mobile for the sparkling with Ratchet helping to make sure it was sparkling safe.
Blurr got a new toy for the sparkling it was a ball meant for babies.
Chase got a toy police car for the sparkling.
Blades got a cute little plush rhino for the sparkling.
Even High tide got some for the little sparkling he got a toy boat for the sparkling to have in the bath.
Heatwave and Quickshadow felt so relieved that they were getting so much help to prepare for their sparkling.
Quickshadow couldn't transform because she was pregnant it is not good for her or the sparkling. So she needs to stay in bot mode until her pregnancy is over. Quickshadow has decided to nurse her sparkling because her mom had done it for her and Heatwave said his mom did it for him.
Weeks began to pass and Quickshadow was growing now. Everyone could see she was pregnant.
Quickshadow was sitting on the couch and humming she was busy reading. Then she saw Heatwave who sat right next to her. "Hello darling," Heatwave said placing his hand on her middle.
"Hello dear," Quickshadow said.
"How are you and our sparkling doing today?" Heatwave asked.
"Great." Quickshadow answered.
Then there was something like a kick. "Heatwave did feel that? The sparkling just kicked," she said.
"Yes I did Quickshadow amazing," Heatwave said.
Things were super exciting especially now at this check up and ultrasound. They found out what they were going to have.
Everyone was gathered around. "We have great news it's a boy!" Quickshadow said.
It was super exciting.
Finally November came around and the wait was almost over.
On November 24th at 2:00 am Quickshadow woke up in pain. She realized she was having contractions. "Heatwave wake up it's time," Quickshadow said.
Heatwave got up and commed Ratchet. "Sorry to wake you Ratchet it's time," Heatwave said.
"Go figure it tends to be at night," Ratchet muttered.
They headed to the medical bay and everything was prepared to deliver a sparkling. Quickshadow was getting a non-stress test. "Okay every thing is looking good," Ratchet said. "It might take a while so it will be over soon and you will be holding your son in your arms," he said.
Time seemed to tick by slowly. Quickshadow was started to be covered in Cybertronian sweat and she was squeezing Heatwave's hand. It had been 6 hours since labor started. She was in a great deal of pain. Ratchet was now make sure everything is ready. He saw it was now time to deliver the sparkling. "Okay Quickshadow are you ready?" Ratchet asked.
Quickshadow nodded her head. "Okay push!" Ratchet said.
Quickshadow grunted and pushed as she squeezed Heatwave's hand. Then soon they heard crying of their sparkling.
"Here he is," Ratchet said holding up a red and yellow sparkling. Ratchet clamped the cord and got out a pair of medical shears. "Do you want to do the honors Heatwave you are the father," he said.
"Sure," Heatwave said. He took the shears and cut where Ratchet showed him. Then Ratchet cleaned up the sparkling and gave him thorough check up. Then he put him in a diaper and wrapped him in a blanket. Then he handed him to Quickshadow.
"Hello little one mummy and daddy have been waiting for you for so long," Quickshadow said.
"Hello son," Heatwave said.
"Let's name our son Hot shot," Quickshadow said.
"That is a wonderful name Hot shot," Heatwave said.
Hot shot was looking around everything was so new to him. There was so much to see and such. Soon Ratchet started the nursing lesson. Hot shot proved to handle nursing quiet well. Quickshadow loved how it felt to feed her son the perfect fuel her ener-milk.
The Burns family and the bots were outside the medical bay. They had heard the noise last night and wondered what was going on. Ratchet came out and explained.
"Can we see the sparkling?" Dani asked.
"I have to see if it is okay with Heatwave and Quickshadow first," Ratchet said and went into the medical bay. "You two feel like some visitors they want to meet the sparkling," he said.
"Let them in," Heatwave said.
The Burns family and the bots came in. "Aww look at him," they said.
"Congratulations you two," Chief Burns said.
"Yes congrats Heatwave," Kade said.
"Look at him I guess yellow is his special color," Dani said.
"He is red to he obviously get's that from Heatwave," Graham said.
"What is his name?" Cody asked.
"His name is Hot shot," Quickshadow said.
"Welcome to Griffin Rock Hot shot," the Burns family said.
"Welcome to our family Hot shot," Optimus said.
Hot shot gurgled and looked around.
Hot shot's life has just begun and there is a lot to see what will happen as he grows.
