Riverdale isn't mine.

Chapter 80

At Riverdale High, Archie enters Ms. Grundy's room. She turns around and smiles when she saw him.

"No drive in for you tonight?" Ms. Holiday asked him.

Archie stands there, thinking about everything Betty and Veronica told him the other night.

Geraldine sees this and chuckled. "Are you just gonna stand there?" She asks, amused.

She frowned when he didn't move. "Archie, talk to me. What is it?"

"Is your real name Jennifer Gibson?" Archie questioned.

Jennifer stood, frozen to the ground, rather shocked. Archie watches her, waiting for her response. And sure enough, the look on her face confirmed that it was her real name.

Archie shook his head. "Who are you? What are you really doing here?" He demanded.

Jennifer tried with all her might to come up with a sob story. "Archie."

"Why the new identity, the moving place to place?" Archie pressed. "Tell me the truth please."

Jennifer just looked down and took her glasses, off hoping she would sell the lie she was about to tell him. "I... Was in a bad relationship. A relationship... I was married to man who would come home from work every night, late, and drunk, and with a temper. One night, I ended up in the emergency room with broken ribs and a shattered collarbone. The next morning, he barely even remembered the fight, and he promised that it wouldn't happen again. But it did, again. So... I left. And I got a divorce, changed my name...Then I came here. And I... Well... I met you." She lied, weeping.

Archie frowns, not sure if he should buy it or not. Jennifer sniffles and looks at him, her eyes pleading to believe her.

But, before either can say something, the door slams open, and in walks Alice, Charles, Betty, and Fred.

"Well, well, well. There they are. What did I tell you?" Alice said to Charles and then Fred.

"Um, what's going on here?" Jennifer asked, trying her best to stay calm and innocent.

Alice turns and stalked towards her. "Of course." She said.

"Archie, would you care to explain yourself about what you and Mrs. Robinson are doing

right about now?" Charles inquired, cocking an eyebrow.

"And please don't leave out any of the lurid details, because Betty here keeps a very meticulous diary, and I'm more than happy to fill in the details." Alice added, sneering at the male redhead.

Archie looks at all the adults and then glanced at Betty, who wore a pained expression and mouthed "I'm sorry" at him, for getting caught by her own mother.

Archie and Jennifer stand there, speechless.

"I never thought that I would live to see the day." Alice breaks the silence, walking towards Jennifer, glaring at her. "I thought the one thing that we could keep our Riverdale,

safe from was child predators." She sneered.

Archie frowns. "Ms. Grundy and I didn't do anything." He responded defensively. "I was confronting her about her identity and why she moved here."

Fred exhales.

"Archie, please…" Jennifer starts to say, staring at Alice who's glaring at her.

"Archie doesn't have to explain anything." Fred piped up.

"Well, they're not denying it, are they?" Alice asked, turning to Fred.

"They're clearly guilty. I think the next step is we take this to Sheriff Keller, and with Detective Smith here as our witness; let the wheels of justice take over." She informs.

Jennifer's breath hitched and she turned around, mentally cursing herself, for getting caught in her own scam that she's been hiding.

"Dad, that's not necessary…" Archie persuaded.

Fred sighs, a bit frustrated. "Son, it's complicated." He says.

"She didn't force me to do anything, Yes, at first I went after her. Everything that happened, I wanted it to happen. And then I found out about her previous schemes from her journal." Archie admitted. He looks at Jennifer who was sitting away, in a corner.

"There's no surprise there." Alice retorted. Fred looks at her, frowning.

Betty pulls her mother's shoulder. "Mom, why are doing this?" She demanded, her voice cracking. "Putting Ms. Grundy on trial? Because you view Archie as another Jason Blossom?"

"Oh, so, this is what it's all about huh?" Fred demanded, asking Alice. "Your crazy grudge against my teenage son? Seriously Alice, what is wrong with you?!"

"I…" Alice began.

"My son is not Jason, accept that." Fred snapped, interrupting the Cooper matriarch. "You've had problems in the past, why are you letting them effect your present?"

"What problems?" Betty asked, puzzled.

"Her son," said Fred.

"Fred, don't." Alice said, panic slowly appearing on her face.

"She has a right to know." Fred shot back. Turning to Betty, "Your father made her give her son up for adoption when she was a teenager." He informed.

"Dad did what?" Betty's eyes went wide.

"How did…" Alice began, shocked.

Archie was speechless. Detective Smith walked to Alice.

"Explain, now!" He demanded angrily.

Alice hesitates, fear in her eyes. Taking a deep breath, she answers.

"What Fred is saying is true. I got pregnant with you in high school and had to go away. And when you were born, I gave you up for adoption."

Betty was at a lost. Her long-lost brother is in the same room with her, her mom, best friend, his dad and the school's former music teacher.

"How could you?!" Charles shouted.

"Hal told me it was for the best." Alice explained.

"He's done nothing but control you, Alice!" Fred exploded.

"For the record, I'm never going to stop being friends with Archie, Mom." Betty snapped, once again pulling her mother's shoulder. "Ever." She said coolly. Archie stares at her.

"We are done here." Fred said sharply.

"Oh, we are far from being done here." Alice retorted.

"Shut up," Fred fired back at her.

"Stop! Stop! Stop! Please." Archie shouted. "You're right, Mrs. Cooper. You're right. I'm selfish, and I'm stupid, and I don't deserve to be your daughter's friend. But please, don't exploit my relationship with Ms. Grundy because you want to hurt me." He said.

"This isn't about hurting anyone, Archie." Alice began to say, staring at Jennifer, who's sitting quietly. "It's about doing what's right, and, of course, informing our neighbors." She said.

"Alice, I swear to God." Fred said, with a hint of anger in his tone.

"You swear to God." Alice mocked him.

"Publish one word about this, Mom, and I will tell everyone that I broke into Ms. Grundy's car" Betty began to say.

"Betty." Alice said.

"That I robbed her, and made up the story of their affair. It will be like, I finally... Snapped. Like Polly. Heck, I'll pull a Gone Girl and run away, like Polly did." Betty threatened.

Fred and Archie just stared at the Cooper women, while both looked down, at the mention of her older sister. Charles, on the other hand, remained stoic.

"Betty." Alice whispered, a hint of pain in her voice.

"It'll prove what everyone already thinks about us. Crazy runs in that family." Betty added darkly. "Like mother, like daughter."

Alice glares at her daughter. "You wouldn't dare." She snapped.

Suddenly, Jennifer speaks up. "I'll quit." She said.

Archie slowly looks at her.

"I'll quit my job, will that satisfy you?" Jennifer asks Alice.

"It will." Betty interjected. "It has too. And I absolutely would dare, Mom." She warned. Alice looked at her daughter and at Fred and at Archie.

"She has to leave town." Alice said.

"Hell yeah," said Archie.

"It's what's best." Fred agrees. "And Alice will keep her word" He warned.

Alice just stared at them. "I will." She promised.

"I'll pack my things, I'll be gone by morning." Jennifer said, as she grabbed her stuff.

"I'll be giving Jennifer a police escort and make sure she leaves town." Charles added, following her.

But before Jennifer could leave, she turns to look at Archie one last time.

"Archie, I…"

Archie interrupts her by trying to spit in her face, but Fred holds him back.

"You took advantage of my friend, and a dead woman too." Betty glares at the ex-music teacher.

Archie successfully breaks free from Fred's restraint and he slaps Jennifer in the face.

"Son, that's enough!" Fred ordered.

Jennifer flees from the room, with Charles behind her.

Archie stares at the ground, taking deep breaths and processing what just happened.

A/N: Whew! What an explosive, dramatic chapter! But I hoped you all enjoyed it. Thank you to Boris Yeltsin for the additional dialogue, plus the idea of Archie fighting fake Grundy.

Up next is a wrap up on episode four: Tom & Kevin return home to find the suspect board gone. We'll get a scene with Jock, Veronica & Hermione, parental resolve with Fred & Archie, Betty putting Alice in her place, Jennifer Gibson leaving town and lastly Jughead leaving the Twilight Drive-In before talking with FP. And then we'll move on to episode 5, "Heart of Darkness" and I can't wait.

Stay tuned, more to come!
