Episode 25: Info
After discovering the Rubies return, Raimundo was first to speak up. "So, wait, they returned?" Raimundo said. "Yea, they should up in their ship a bit agitated, so I put them into time out." Lapis said. "Hmm…well, we need to know what they are doing here." Jack said. "Exactly what I was thinking, Jack." Garnet said. Jack smirks a bit. They look over all of the rubies and decided on Doc, the one with the ruby in the chest. Lapis lowers Doc to the ground and dispel the water. "Alright, where's Jasper?" Doc said. This caught both Amethyst and Raimundo off guard. Amethyst gives Raimundo the nod and began to go behind everyone. "Last time we came here, you tricked us into playing that stupid "baseball" game. Then you mention that she is on Neptune. We looked and she was not there!" Doc added. "We checked the entire system and nothing. So tell us right now. No games, no tricks, no gimmicks."
Jack pulls Raimundo to the side. "Do you want to tell them or should I?" Jack said in a quiet tone. "Well… be patient in 3…2…1…" Raimundo said. Just then Amethyst show up, looking like Jasper. All of the rubies were elated to see that. They were easily fooled by it. Lapis allows the rest of the rubies out and they rush to "Jasper". They do the gem salute. They give some of the tale on how Jasper managed to come out and took out 80 gems before the sun went down. They mention that they were awaiting for her return to homeworld. However, the Gems and Monk continue to improvise. "Jasper" was to take Gems to the moon to make sure they report that "Jasper" quote on quote "caught the Crystal Gems." They agreed but with Amethyst a bit exhausted, the form won't last for long. They head to the roaming eye and head out to the moon.
"Do you think they'll succeed?" Omi asked. "I'm fairly certain…" Raimundo said. Kimiko looks at Raimundo. "Okay, Amethyst isn't going to hold on for that long, but I think they would barely make it back with minimal issues." Raimundo admits. "So, I take it Amethyst and Jasper fought or something like that?" Clay said. "Yea, well, a good chunk of it was Amethyst. I helped out a bit before helping Jack battle against a new Heylin threat." Raimundo said. This caught Omi, Kimiko, Clay, and Lapis off guard. "Yea, His name is Hannibal." Jack said. "Hannibal? Who's Hannibal?" Lapis asked. "Look, Peri will discuss it with you, Lapis, I'll discuss it with the Monks. That fine with everyone?" Jack said. They nod tentatively. Peridot walks over to Lapis and Omi, Kimiko and Clay began to walk with Jack and Raimundo.
"So, care to explain who Hannibal is?" Clay said. "Well, he's said to be the first Heylin warrior. Not only that, he lived for 8000+ years." Jack said. "Do you think…" Kimiko asked. "I do think that he did might gotten tangled up with the Crystal Gems' battle for Earth. I think he was super jaded from the Gems trying to liberate Earth but I also think he wanted to rule the world without the Diamonds interference. So, essentially, he was a third front. From what I could gather when I was a Heylin, doing a bit of research, I found out that Hannibal Roy sparred Rose Quartz several times. Each time, Rose prevailed. In the last battle, he rumored to have told Rose that either she has to explain her true ID or he would. Given that there's hardly any info on the big last battle, I doubt that Rose failed and Hannibal was forced to retreat. Just like he did today." Jack explained. "So, you bested him?" Clay said. "Well…not really. We only forced him to retreat after Jasper's defeat." Jack added.
"So, that's why Amethyst is trying to impersonate Jasper." Kimiko said. "Yep, and not only that…well… needless to say, Jasper fused with a corrupted gem and got corrupted as well." Raimundo said. "Yikes, that is most messed up." Omi said. "Oh, and if you think I handled well against Hannibal…well, I struggled at first and Raimundo managed to bailed me out thanks to Smoky Quartz… Steven and Amethyst's fusion." Jack added. "Wait, wait, Amethyst and Steven fused?!" Kimiko said in a surprised tone. "Yea, Jack and I were very surprised when that happened." Raimundo said. "So, if Steven could fuse with Amethyst, does this mean he could fuse with Pearl or Garnet in the future?" Clay ponders. "That is possible." Kimiko said.
"What else did Hannibal say?" Omi asked. "Well, he did mention two things. He told us that Chase is looking for me to return to the Heylin, but it's fairly too late…and that he told Steven that there's more to Rose than we know." Jack said. "Huh… weird. We know Rose's story to a tee at this point." Clay said. "Oh yea, that is most true. Rose was said to be a good leader." Omi added. "Yea, but Jasper's diamond wasn't Yellow Diamond…but originally Pink Diamond." Raimundo said. "Huh, didn't know that." Kimiko said. "So Jasper resents Rose because she pretty much knocked out Pink Diamond for good? That makes some sense." Clay said. "Wait, wait, if Rose shattered Pink Diamond, how come her sword only poof other gems and not Pink Diamond?" Jack said. "What are you getting at Jack?" Omi asked. "Well, maybe Rose only poofed Pink Diamond, stored her in a bubble and faked the shattering. That way, Rose would have her own ace in the hole." Jack said. "Hmm…weird theory but it is plausible within that context of the sword only poofing and not shattering." Raimundo said. Jack nods as they began to arrive near a cliffside.
Jack sat down and began to look out longingly. He ponders something. "If Chase is looking for me, what is he planning on pitching to me?" Jack said. "I mean, It's very unlikely for me to return to him because of our deal that we had so what can he even do at this point?" "Good suggestion. If Chase does intend to do something bad against you…we'll have your back. You proved just enough that you could be an ally to us. Still got a good ways to go, yea, but you reached the bare minimum to convince us." Kimiko said. "That's great to hear, but I wasn't planning on doing the bare minimum… I want to go an extra mile while being myself. I want to be an asset to you guys without only being here because of Peridot. I want to show to you, to the Gems, heck, to the entire Beach City community that Jack Spicer is on the warpath of redemption. If I can do that, then I'll be a bit happy." Jack said. The monks knew that Jack is getting fired up again. Just then, they heard a chuckle. "I guess that deal worked in your favor after all" The voice said. They turned to see… CHASE! Oh boy, things might get hairy once more. Just when Jasper is knocked out and Hannibal on his way back to inform the UHF about Jack's defection, Chase arrives and is looking to have a chat with Jack.
