AUTHOR'S NOTE: HEY GUYS, JUST A HEADS UP, I HAD TO MAKE A SMALL CHANGE TO CHAPTER 5, MORE SPECIFICALLY WITH THE COACH. NOT A BIG CHANGE, BUT STILL FELT WORTH NOTING. ALSO, ANOTHER SHOUT OUTS:
cornholio4: Yep, Daredevil is here and will play a big part in Peter's development.
Subscribe CJ: Yeah, I've always been fascinated with fight scenes in movies, be it action or martial arts genres. Mostly with the choreography and how the characters are when they fight, how strong they are, and their mindset. So, I figured I'd try to implement that in my fan-fics, especially with Spider-Man. The real challenge, especially with this story, is comedy. Yeah, you do have to balance out the humor and the serious moments, but it's times like that when I give respect to Team Four Star and many other comedic writers because writing jokes that relate to the story, it's hard! But I do appreciate the challenge.
AND YEAH, THAT'S ALL FROM ME. WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, LET THE SHOW BEGIN:
Tonight must have been the luckiest night of Montana's career. For not only did he and his men find the 'Spider-Man' that they'd were ordered to dispose of, but also that of Daredevil, whom they'd heard was also causing their employer, Wilson Fisk, much trouble with his operations. "And it looks like we got ourselves a two-for-one," Montana said, amused. "Just spotted both our Bug and the Devil from Hell's Kitchen."
Dan and Ox were stunned to hear this, as they also couldn't believe their good fortune so early in the night. So much so that Dan looked at the monitor, which showed Daredevil helping the winded Peter back up to his feet, and was even more astonished. "Say what?! Are they working together?!"
"Don't know, don't care," Montana replied as he activated his targeting system and aimed at the battered Peter. "All I know is I'm about to hit two birds with one stone. Target locked." Montana used the tip of his thumb to press a button on the top of his joystick. Moments later, a silver missile shot out of a barrel that was also cloaked and headed straight toward Peter and Daredevil at incredible speeds.
Something to which Peter was alerted to when he felt the all too familiar tingling in his skull. "Oh crap! Spider-Sense!"
Suddenly, the missile broke apart to reveal a giant green net that was big enough to hold two people and was heading straight toward the two masked men on the roof.
Right around the time, a confused Daredevil gave Peter a baffled expression after hearing what the young man said. "Spider-what?" Instead of a clear answer, Daredevil received a fast and hard tackle from Peter, saving them both from the net as it landed on the center of the roof.
Back in the aircraft, Fancy Dan and Ox were quite surprised to see Peter dodge a shot from their leader, as this was the first time they saw Montana miss a target.
As for Montana himself, he was seething in anger, for he always took pride in hitting his target no matter how far. And seeing this puny punk in red and blue tights avoid the net without even turning to look at it felt like a slap in the face.
Out of the three men in the cockpit, the wide-eyed Ox spoke about what he and his fellow Enforcers had just witnessed. "Wow, that bug guy's got moves!"
This remark didn't sit too well with the seething Montana. "Yeah, Ox," said Montana through gritted teeth. "I've noticed."
"I mean, he dodged that net without even looking at it," Ox went on. "And this must've been the first time you missed, well, ANYTHING, boss! Because for this, you never-!"
Both Montana and Dan cut Ox off mid-sentence by saying three words in unison, with Montana filled with anger and Dan being fearful of what their leader was like when agitated. "SHUT UP, OX!"
Back on the roof, Peter had sat up and was stunned when he turned to the right and saw the net. "Huh? What the…?" The dumbfounded young man stood back up on his feet but was alerted by the sound of a metal door sliding open from above on the left side. Now more confused than ever, Peter immediately turned to the left and was stunned beyond belief when he noticed Fancy Dan and Ox sliding down from ropes that came from out of pure nothingness and landing on the roof.
While down, Daredevil also heard the sliding door noise and the two Enforcers landing. From Dan letting out a cocky chuckle as he used his right hand to pull out his Jian sword from the scabbard strapped to his back to Ox popping his knuckles. All of which made the horned crime fighter let out an irritated sigh as he sat up. "Fantastic," the annoyed Daredevil said under his breath because, despite Peter's inexperience, the young man was still a handful, leaving him slightly exhausted. So much so, that being forced to deal with Kingpin's lackies would only make the night more stressful.
Moments later, Montana, after taking some time to calm down and regain focus on the job at hand, was the next to make his presence none from inside the cockpit of the hovercraft, and he did so by picking up a microphone and pressing a button on the dashboard which activated the craft's speaker system. "Evenin' gents," Montana said to Peter and Daredevil in a jolly tone and earning confused from the two masked men as they couldn't see the hovercraft and where the hitman's voice was coming from. "Sorry to interrupt your little shindig, but you see, me and the boys were on a nice little flight around the city, and we just so happen to spot you two. Now we know you two are busy, bein' that you're the talk of the town, but we're just dying to have your autographs!"
It was here that Ox looked confused at Montana's remark and looked up at the sky, or more specifically, where the invisible craft was floating. "Wait, autographs? Weren't we supposed to kill them, boss?
Upon hearing these words, Dan closed his eyes and let out a sigh of frustration as he, along with an equally annoyed Montana, said this under his breath. "Damn it, Ox."
As for the dumbfounded Peter, he shook his head to get out of his confusion and addressed Montana while holding up three fingers. "Okay, 'Mr. Disembodied voice', three things," said the exasperated Peter. "One, it is pronounced *the boys and I*, educate yourself! Two, if the reason we can't see you is because you're using cloak tech, cloak works better if you don't speak through a megaphone that's loud enough for the whole district to hear. And third, and I think this is the most important point of all, who the hell are you guys?!"
The perplexed Peter soon got his answer from Daredevil, who got back up on his feet and held his left hand on his lower back in pain due to the tackle "The Enforcers," said the wincing Daredevil. "Little guy's name is Fancy Dan, the big guy is Ox, and the person you were talking to is Montana. They're the personal hit squad of the Kingpin, the most powerful mobster in town." As the horn-headed vigilante continued, he briefly turned to Peter and gave him a stern expression. "And one of many dangerous people YOU have been pissing off lately!"
It was here that a sneering Dan decided to interject. "And the funny thing is, people die when the Kingpin gets pissed! And tonight," Dan twirled around his Jian and got in a readied stance to intimidate the two masked targets. "Those 'people'…are you two fools!" Without wasting a second, Dan ran towards Peter with Jian in hand, then jumped up and threw a horizontal slash to take the young man's masked head off.
Luckily for Peter, he was just recovered enough from his fight with Daredevil that he quickly ducked and avoided the slash, causing Dan to slice nothing but air and forcing him to roll forward so as not to tumble and land on his face.
Daredevil heard Dan's feet hit the floor, and to his relief, he could hear Peter's breathing, indicating that he was still alive. However, he still needed to figure out if he was skilled enough to take on Dan one on one, and thus decided to run in and intercept the Enforcer before he could attack Peter again. Along the way, Daredevil also ran towards the spot where he heard one of his billy clubs were tossed to, and as he approached it, he held his right hand forward as he rolled downward, and in the process, grabbed the club and held on to it as he ended up in a kneeling position. Seconds later, the seasoned crime fighter ran towards where he could Dan's frustrated grunts and quickly threw an overhead strike. Unfortunately, the attack was stopped when Dan held his Jien vertically over his head and allowed the club to hit the blade instead of his skull.
Meanwhile, Peter stood straight up and quickly turned to see Daredevil using his billy club to block sword slashes from Dan. Though their first meeting wasn't exactly the friendliest, Peter could see that Daredevil was not their ally and knew he had a better chance of bringing down their would-be assassins if he and the horn-headed fighter worked together. With this in mind, Peter leaped into the air to assist Daredevil in bringing down the sword-wielding Dan. However, before reaching his soon-to-be ally, Peter was surprised when he felt something strong wrap around his ankles in mid-air.
That something was Ox, who utilized great speed for a man his size to catch Peter while he was in the air. Afterward, he soon used his brawn by spinning Peter around and around until finally, he released his hold and sent the young man flying toward and slamming his spine and the back of his head up against the air conditioning box.
In the cockpit of the invisible hovercraft, Montana watched his two men deal with, as his employer Wilson Fisk called them, 'masked annoyances' from his monitor. All while adjusting the setting of the Gatling gun from 'capture' to 'kill.' He kept his thumb on the trigger button, ready to fire at either Peter or Daredevil if they tried to escape from the roof. "Time to earn your money, boys," Montana said to his men while looking at the monitor. "Don't let me or the Big Boss down."
SPIDER-MAN VS. OX
A shaking Peter struggled to sit up after taking such a hard impact and just barely put his back up against the steel layer of the box. And, while his mask didn't show it, he was dazed and, in another world, one that made him smile sheepishly. "Really, Ms. Romanov? You want me to join the Avengers so I can make out with you…?" The groggy Peter said incoherently until he was finally brought out of his semi-conscious state when he felt his Spider-Sense tingle, this time so strong, it worsened his already splitting headache. Nonetheless, he looked up, and as Peter's vision cleared, he was shocked to see the bottom of Ox's boot heading straight toward his face, which prompted him to roll to the left side and allow Ox to kick and leave a sizable dent into the box instead. As soon as Peter popped back on his feet, he turned to face Ox, but through the corner of his left eye, he spotted something that increased his concern in the fight between…
DAREDEVIL VS. FANCY DAN
Namely, Daredevil struggled against his fight with Dan, for he was on the defensive and twirling his billy club in a circular motion to parry the lightning-fast one-handed slashes from the Enforcer's sword. At one point, Daredevil decided to fight back by using his club to hold Dan's blade in the air, then used his free hand to grab the hitman's wrist and attempted to knock the wind out of his sails with a right-legged knee strike.
But Dan proved to be just as capable of speedy defense as his red-wearing opponent stepped back and used his left knee to block the blow. Once he placed his foot back on the floor, Dan fought back by throwing a left elbow strike to Daredevil's jaw, knocking him down to the ground.
Despite taking such a big hit, one that caused the side of his lower lip to bleed, Daredevil managed to still hold on to the club, mainly due to instinct from years of intense training. And those same instincts allowed him to hear Dan's quick breathing as he held his Jian sword up and attempted to drive it down and slide Daredevil's head in two. As such, the red-wearing vigilante saved himself by holding his club up horizontally and blocking the blade just in time. However, it still left him vulnerable for Dan to push him down and bring him down on one knee. A sight which didn't sit too well for a particular young hero in the fight between…
SPIDER-MAN VS. OX
…Because not only did Peter need Daredevil's help to end this fight, he also remembered how the horn-headed masked man saved him by intercepting the sword-wielding Dan after he tried to decapitate him, and felt that he did owe him a favor. Moments later, Peter spotted something that caused his eyes to be lit up with hope. And that something was Daredevil's second billy club, still sitting on the roof floor waiting to be grabbed. "Okay, Horn-boy's definitely going to need that," Peter thought to himself but was soon startled when he heard something big being yanked out of something made of steel, which prompted the young hero to look forward and see that it was Ox, who pulled his foot out of the air conditioning box and started to walk towards Peter with dark intentions.
This forced Peter to get into a readied stance as he took a couple of steps back from Ox. "But first, I need to get past him!" With this in mind, Peter proceeded with his admittingly thinly conceived plan to save Daredevil. And the first phase was to use the one weapon that failed against Daredevil but was sure it would work on the bulky mercenary walking toward him: a snide comment. "Just my luck! The devil guy gets someone I can take in a fight, leaving me with the big, tough, dumb guy!"
Naturally, Ox didn't take this too kindly comment and was so angry he briefly stopped walking. "Hey, watch your mouth, you little piss ant!"
Peter held up his hands defensively before answering. "Okay, sorry, you're not tough!"
"That's better!" Ox replied, satisfied, but soon grew confused about what he had just agreed to. "Wait, what?"
The Enforcer's slow response to his insult did annoy Peter but also made the young hero feel an ounce of pity for him. As such, he stood up in a relaxed posture and folded his arms. "Go ahead, pal. I'll wait," Peter said with disappointment and sympathy.
Ox took a few seconds to rethink the whole 'big, tough, dumb guy' insult, but once he replayed Peter's 'apology' in his mind, his anger returned in full force, and he saw nothing but red. "Hey! YOU LITTLE PRICK!" Ox screamed, enraged, then charged towards the waiting Peter just like the animal namesake.
Most normal people would be frightened to see some of Ox's size running towards them, but for Peter, this was all part of his plan, and thus proceeded with the next step. In that, he jumped and flipped over Ox before he could tackle him, and with the bottom of his feet, kicked the back of the bulky mercenary's head, using him as a boost to get higher into the air as well as causing him to fall face first on to the roof floor. While in the air, Peter pointed his hand downward, shot a web line that hit and stuck to the billy club, and yanked hard on his end to pull the weapon off the floor and into Peter's left hand. Upon landing on his feet, Peter turned his attention to Daredevil, who Dan still pinned down. "Hey, Horn-Head, think fast!" Peter called out, then threw the club to the 'devil in distress' in the fight between…
DAREDEVIL VS. FANCY DAN
…For Daredevil, hearing Peter call out to him and the noise of his club coming towards him was like music to his ears. That was why he wasted no time holding up his left hand and instantly caught the club. Now holding two weapons, Daredevil saved himself by holding both clubs over his head in an 'X' fashion and, in the process, trapped Dan's blade in between them. The vigilante then proceeded to steer Dan's sword to the right side and down to the floor, and after placing his right foot on the blade to keep him from pulling it out, he threw a left downward club strike at the blade and broke in in two! With the Enforcer's weapon now destroyed, Daredevil fought back by throwing a rising right club strike.
However, it was an attack that Dan avoided by dashing backward, and as he stopped, he looked at his now bladeless Jian and was utterly distraught. "LISA!" Dan yelled in dismay, then sadly held the hilt as if he was cradling a hurt child. "Oh, what did he do to you, baby?"
Daredevil needed clarification on how Dan was interacting with his now useless weapon. "You…named your sword?"
Dan soon looked up at the astounded Daredevil with pure disdain. "Damn straight I did, punk! This Jian was my pride and joy!" Dan bent down to place this hilt of his Jian on the roof floor, allowing him to reach into the sides of his boots and pull out two Wing Chun Butterfly Swords. With new weapons and a deeper resolve to kill the hero that stood before him, Dan immediately got into a fighting stance. "And you leave no choice but to introduce me to my two other babies, Ebony and Ivory!" With fury in his eyes, Dan charged toward Daredevil and began throwing slashes at blinding speed.
Just as it has for all these years of fighting criminals and ninjas from the clan known only as The Hand, Daredevil's training and reflexes saved his life as he managed to use his clubs to block and parry each slash thrown his way. But despite his mastery of defending himself against someone of Dan's skill, Daredevil was still astounded by the two names his opponent just gave his weapons. "Okay, apparently he's a music lover as well as a weapon lover," thought Daredevil as he continued to use his clubs to block and push the blades away from his person. "I sometimes forget how this job allows me to meet interesting people. Too bad half of them are homicidal maniacs like this joker!"
As before, the sight of Daredevil on the defensive did not go unseen. For one of the fighters in the fight between…
SPIDER-MAN VS. OX
…Namely, Peter himself was both worried and irritated that his action to help Daredevil was brief. "Geez, this Devil guy must have luck just as bad as mine!" As if right on cue, Peter was alerted by his Spider-Sense, prompting him to duck and avoid a clothesline in the back of the head by a recovered and furious Ox. Once he stood up straight, Peter was shocked to see Ox with his fists raised above his hand and rage in his eyes. All this motivated him to jump and flip in a corkscrew motion to the left side to avoid getting smashed through the roof by the enraged hitman's fist.
After saving himself from getting squashed like the arachnid he named himself after, Peter immediately got into a readied stance as he looked up at this massive, angry behemoth of a man, pulled his fist back, stood up, and turned to face the young man. All while troubled as he was forced to remember how he compared his luck to Daredevil's. "Okay, scratch that! Nowhere NEAR as bad as mine!"
