Chapter Ten
Siria stood outside the Mall. She shivered slightly as the clouds from yesterday's rain moved inland. At the Loft Aravinda had made it sound so possible, but standing in front of the beige building Siria wasn't too sure. With her hands in her pockets she made her way slowly into the Mall toward the grid. She tried lifting it but it was locked. She frowned. She was going to have to make herself known to the whole place. "Hello, is anyone here?" She shook the grid, "Jay...Salene?"
"Siria is that you?"
She looked up. "Hi Ram!"
"I thought you'd left for good."
"Not for good, no; umm...where's Jay? I need to speak to him."
"He isn't here," Ram said smirking.
Siria's eyes narrowed. "I don't believe you."
"Why not? I'm telling the truth."
"Because you're not exactly my favorite person"
"You're not one of mine, but I'm telling you the truth, and I'll give you something for free. Since he decided to run for City-leader him and Amber have been pretty cozy."
"Where's Jay?"
"I don't know." He grinned. "Why don't you look for Amber, I'm pretty sure you'll find him around."
"I hate you."
"So be it," and with that Ram walked away from the grid. Siria tried to call out, but stopped. There was no point. She had lost him.
A few moments passed and Ram found himself in front of a laptop strictly disobeying Amber's orders. He only had a month left but he needed a fix and fast. Typing at the keys he became void of his surrounding. He hardly noticed someone coming up to him. "Ram"
"What, Jay!" Ram looked up irritated at being caught.
"Was there someone here a minute ago?"
"No, I would think not, everyone is out, remember?"
"I just thought...never mind," Jay shrugged and walked out of the Mall shaking his head trying to focus. Not only did he miss Siria he was starting to hear her voice.
Siria stood at a stall admiring her reflection and the pair of slow drop pearl earrings she wore. "They look great on you." The tiny trader girl grinned, eyeing the ribbon Siria was using to tie her hair back.
Siria smirked at this comment. "Yeah...great, but I have no reason to wear them."
"Why not?" A voice came from behind Siria.
She gave a weak smile. "Hey Lev," she took off the earring handing them back to the trader.
Lev looked over Siria. "What'll you take for them?"
"That leather wrist band looks awesome."
Unbuckling it from his wrist he handed it to the trader who grinned greedily at the new trader and handing over the earrings willingly. Siria watched Lev pocket them. She shrugged. For a quick moment she had thought he had gotten them for her.
After gathering their things and heading out of the City, Siria turned for one last look. "I'm not going back."
"What!" Aravinda turned shock clearly on her face.
"I'm not going back; I have no reason to go back."
"But..." Aravinda gave her a questioning look that asked about Jay.
"It...didn't work out." Siria's voice was in a whisper.
Aravinda sighed. She felt defeated. "Come on, we need to get back." Turning she led the way back to camp.
A/N I hate when stuff like that happens.....
