When Link, Kestu and Ember re-entered Kokiri Forest, they ran into Mido himself.
"Looks like you got a new Zeldamon. It's probably weak." Mido snarled.
Ember could see jealousy in his eyes, and suspected that he was surprised that Link was able to catch a Korok.
"Go away, Mido," growled Link. "Or I'll make Ember incinerate you."
"You wouldn't dare!" cried Mido.
He then stormed past the trio mumbling about getting a strong pokemon in the Korok Forest.
Link then directed them to a building that smelled of food.
"It's time to eat lunch, guys." Link called.
"Great, but I only eat Korok food." Kestu told Link.
Ember turned to Kestu and asked: "Could you tell Link that I would like some Oran berries?"
Kestu nodded and told Link.
"Okay." Link said, bringing them into the house.
The house was filled with people and monsters. Ember saw Link asking somebody about something. He pulled out a little bag from his pocket and pulled out some shiny things.
"Oh, rupees!" Kestu pointed out.
"What are rupees?" asked Ember.
"They are the Hyrulian's form of trading." Kestu answered. "You give someone rupees, they give you what you want in return."
"Weird." Ember commented.
"Yeah," said Kestu. "I wonder where they get that stuff."
"I think from the mountains," Ember answered. "I ate some of them, and they tasted like sulfur. Ugh."
"You eat rocks?" Kestu laughed as they made their way over to some other monsters playing in what seemed to be a little training arena.
"We are the ancestors of the Gorons." Ember told him.
"I see." Kestu said as he ran to an unoccupied arena. "Let's practice some moves."
"Wait," Ember told Kestu as she saw Link come up to them with a plate of Oran berries. "After I eat."
"Here you go, my little protectors." Link laughed. "Eat up."
Ember instantly slithered to the plate which Link put on the ground. She teared through the berries, feeling her scratches and bruises heal.
"Wow." Link laughed again. "You sure are hungry, Ember."
After Link sat down at a wooden board, which Kestu identified as a "table," and started eating his food, Kestu asked Ember about how she fought and what moves she knew.
"Well," said Ember. "We dodongos have explosive fluid in our bodies. As Baby Dodongos, we have the most explosive juice in our bodies. As we grow older, the juice starts to become Flame energy for easy weilding."
Kestu nodded and thought about that. "So right now, you can maneuver around quickly by exploding some fluid in your body and sending yourself flying. I think we need to work on precision. Also, have you thought about adding some explosive touch to your Flame energy? It will be sure to make an impact on your results in difficult battles."
Ember nodded and concentrated on not only putting Flame energy in her mouth, she also ignited some explosive juice and moved up to her mouth. She quickly opened her mouth and fired off a Fire Spout which exploded upon impact with the wall of the training arena.
"Good!" Kestu congratulated. "Now try maneuvering yourself around the air by using explosions."
Ember leaped up into the air using an explosion and then directed herself one way and created an explosion at the tip of the tail. She remembered to spin around and explode herself in another direction, but she was too late, and she hit a wall with a smack.
She kept trying over and over until she was able to reflexively maneuver in mid air.
She then felt the calling of her bottle, and she saw the familiar bottle appear in her vision.
"Ok," Link ordered. "We are going to attempt the first gym."
He then explained what the gym challenge was to Kestu as they walked out of the food house and into the street.
"It's the grass gym, and it's run by the Forest Sage Saria. She's a Forest type gym leader, so Ember, you got the avantage."
Ember nodded and hoped for the best as they approached the gym.
