(This chapter will be in Donnie's POV)
"Donnie! What is this?! What is going on?"
"Raph, I do not have time for this! She needs my help! Do you NOT see her leg right now?!"
"I know! I am just concerned! What do you need for me to do?"
Donnie hesitantly asks for Raph to retrieve more burning cream and gauze. They work together to help clean Y/N's wound while she rested.
"We need to be gentle; her skin is very tender. The wound is pretty severe, it will leave a pretty big scar."
Donnie was so focused that he did not notice Raph placing his hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him.
"She will be ok Donnie; you have done the best you could."
Donnie paused and tensed up.
"She wouldn't be like this if it wasn't for you and Dad."
"Dee, that is not fair, we told you to not contact her anymore and you did! You sent Shelldon out there to send messages between y'all and he got caught and both of them almost got killed!"
"So, you are saying it is MY fault?!"
Donnie jumps up in defense as tears start forming in his eyes. Raph starts to finally realize the situation at hand.
"Y-you like her, don't you?"
Donnie's face changes to slight surprise, he holds himself while looking away from Raph in embarrassment.
"Look, she…she means a lot to me. It hurt when you all told me I could not talk or see her anymore. We were just starting to bond even further. I care for her more than working on my next invention for God sakes! You have to have noticed how much I have changed recently!"
"I-I am sorry, Dee…we were just trying to protect you. We don't know who she is, and we have a lot of people wanting to hurt us."
"Then TRY to get to know her like I have! She risked her life to save Shelldon, what more proof do you need?!"
Y/N stirs in her sleep, making them realize that they are being too loud.
"Let's talk about this outside Donnie, the others need to know."
Donnie nods and glances over at Y/N once more, placing his hand on her and giving a gentle smile.
"I will be back, Y/N."
He walks with Raph to the center of the lair where the others have collected. Leo and Mikey look at them approaching with concern. Splinter looks to Raph with an assessment of the situation. His brow was furrowed in anticipation of the response.
"Raphael, what is the status of the girl?"
"She is resting, Donnie and I helped cleaned her wound and she should be ok."
"That is good to hear…Purple, I need to speak with you alone."
"Yes…Sensai."
Donnie trails behind Splinter to his father's room, his brothers look on in concern as they walked away out of view. A nervous Mikey finally spoke up to break the awkward silence.
"Hey, Raph, do you think Donnie will be alright?"
"I think so, Donnie just need to be able to be honest with Splinter. What happened has happened, all we can do now is just wait for him to come back and tell us what our next steps are…"
"Raphie, you KNOW Splinter and him are going to go at it as per usual. They are both stubborn as hell!"
"I know but things are a bit different this time, Donnie seems to really like that girl."
"E-excuse ME?!"
Leo jumps back in amazement, along with Mikey as they audible gasp.
"Wait-wait-wait a minute, like her as in…like her as a friend or taking her out to a pizza date?"
"Pizza date."
Blue and Orange gasp once more but smile in approval.
"I KNEW something was up, he has been acting strange all-"
Suddenly, the lair echoed the loud voices of Splinter and Donnie. They were talking about what happened and how Splinter was disappointed.
"I TOLD you, to not contact that young lady again! Now she is greatly injured!"
"I know but she needed MY HELP! Why don't you understand that?!"
"Because of you disobeying me, she AND Shelldon are in need of medical attention! We do not know who she is-"
"STOP USING THAT AS AN EXCUSE! I know who she is! If you don't trust her, trust ME!"
It went silent for some time, not even the boys made a sound. Time past until they came back out from Splinter's room. Donnie looked a bit indifferent, and his eyes were a bit red. Raph starts to walk over to console him but Donnie walks past everyone and back to the med bay. Leo decided to chime in this time out of concern for him.
"What happened? What is wrong with Donnie?"
Splinter sighs and shakes his head before responding.
"Donatello and I have talked things out. We have made an agreement that he can see her but ONLY under the supervision of one of us. He is not allowed to pursue any romantic relationship until further notice."
"But Splinter, he really likes her!"
"Raphael! I don't want to discuss this anymore than I already have! I am well aware of his feelings and how she affects him, but safety MUST come first for not just him but for her as well! You are NINJAS! The less vulnerabilities we have, THE BETTER! We can't have mutants like Meat Sweats, Repo Mantas or heaven forbid the Foot Clan getting a hold of her! She was shot at today over Shelldon! I could not bear the idea of Donatello dealing with that on his conscience if she was hurt even further. He needs to keep his feelings at bay, and we cannot have her associated with us!"
Raph lowers his head in defeat, saddened for his brother. Splinter sighs once more before walking closer to Raph, placing his paw on his arm.
"Boys, I am not trying to give you a lonely life. The Hamato Clan, unfortunately, requires sacrifice, sometimes of the heart. I lost someone close to me as well because of the commitment it brings. I just don't want you to experience the same pain, especially at such a young age. Donatello and I made a compromise, and he will keep it. I hope you all understand, he will come around as well."
