Summary: Ever wondered what happened in 'Rising' when John flipped the coin?

Major John Sheppard looked around at the bustling city park around him. All these people, oblivious to the turmoil churning inside of him, unconcerned by the fact that he was being forced to make one of the hardest decisions of his life.
To go or not to go, that was the question.
On the one hand - well, it was Atlantis. A city though to be only a legend, and here he was being offered a chance to see it in person. Not to mention the face that, legend or not, it was someplace new to explore, something new to learn. Most importantly, it was new. Somewhere John had never been. He was aching to go see what was out there. The best part was, with his natural ability to use Ancient technology, the possibilities were wide open.
Granted, that was the other hand. John wouldn't have admitted it to anyone, but the idea of having some whacked out gene that allowed him to use alien technology scared the hell out of him. Especially after seeing how said ability could go wrong - John still had vivid memories of the drone that the Scottish docter, Beckett, had accidentally set on John's helicopter. Not to mention the somewhat unnerving fact that if he went, he might not be able to go home. As much as John was all for exploring, he also liked his cozy little bachelor apartment. Okay, well maybe rundown was a little more appropriate then cozy, but still...
...to go, or not to go...
Finally, John pulled a quarter out of his pocket. Heads, he would go to Atlantis. Tails - tails, he would go home and watch football.
John tossed the quarter high into the air, watching the sunlight glint off the coin before he caught it. He slapped the cool metal onto the back of his hand, slowly lifting his palms to reveal the result.
Tails. Football, maybe a pizza...
...then again...
