Izuku sat inside his room as he scrolled through news feeds on his phone. It was a daily occurrence for him, he was a major Hero fan after all. 'Hmm… Mt. Lady destroyed another street? It's to be expected with someone with a Quirk like that…'
He looked through the titles before a major news station had shown something that made him stand up. "Transport attacked?!" He quickly swiped and refreshed before confirming the worst announcement possible.
Izuku's finger tapped on the display as he dialed his phone and sent a message to All Might before calling Ayaka directly. The tone hummed before Ayaka picked up. "Hello-" she tries replying.
"Kamisato! Bad news!"
Ayaka didn't stop worrying about it, Kurogiri had been taken and she knew what possibilities the Fatui could do. It only went public in the morning since breaking the news of another potential catastrophe would not sit well with public order.
For now, panicking wasn't going to help so everyone was advised to go on with their day without bringing it up. The message was directly sent by All Might to those who knew about the Fatui and Teyvat. Those are Shoto, Eijiro, Katsuki, Izuku, and Ayaka.
Ayaka and Izuku joined up before heading to the classroom, along with Tenya and Ochaco who they met up along the way early into the day.
"Did you guys hear about the news on the USJ? They reported it so fast last night!" Ochaco mentions.
"Well, then that means the media reporters are doing their utmost quality in disseminating information quickly and broadcasting to the public. Aside from that, I did hear about their report on the USJ - if not for our fellow classmates, it could've turned for the worst."
Ayaka calls their attention. "That's true Iida but All Might, Aizawa, and No.13 also did their jobs as teachers. Without their guidance, the class would've never been evacuated as they slowly trickled in from their own fights."
Ayaka said that out loud but deep inside she was particular about not mentioning she got out of control because of her Delusion - instead, she was told to attribute the intense frost as part of her Quirk she had been suppressing.
"Hmmm…" Tenya placed a hand under his chin. "All Might was probably amazing even though I didn't see the fight myself. Speaking of All Might, I can't believe that massive Villain could fight him. Kamisato, weren't you the one who took care of it? How come All Might didn't beat it himself?"
Izuku started to stutter for a bit as he replied. "I-Iida! Their Quirk matchups are just too much of a disadvantage!" All Might did have more complex reasons but that would reveal he was worried about a time limit.
"I guess Kamisato's blade work is much more useful against that person."
They soon reached the classroom and waited for the rest of their classmates to arrive. All of them did small talk about anything about their day. Most were talking about the events of the USJ.
Ayaka was the class president and had to make everyone settle down. Considering the class had already been seated, she decided on making them quiet down later instead.
"Did anyone else see the recent news on that Villain the police caught that was supposed to go to Tartarus?" Denki asked. "It's scary knowing Villains keep doing these things…"
Eijiro sitting behind Denki replied. "It's a tragedy… we don't know what could happen. I was pretty shocked too."
"One after the other, a pro-hero school attacked - then those who attacked that got arrested were attacked by the same people that joined in attacking the same pro-hero school," Jiro said.
"It makes you think right, Jiro? All this mental gymnastics makes me worried about what other kinds of stuff Villains are going to do, maybe they're going to attack again. We're going to be prepared either way."
"Mental gymnastics? I didn't know you can think while being a dunce, Kaminari. Weren't you the one cowering while Yaoyoruzu and I were fending the Villains off until I used you as a stun gun?"
Denki had a disgusted but accepting face as Jiro made him realize she was right.
Ayaka stepped to the front before notifying the rest of the class. "Please, refrain from speaking. Morning homeroom will begin shortly."
To the surprise of some, Shota Aizawa opened the massive door and went inside still covered in bandages. His skin was still healing from the burns so most of his face was still obscured by cloth.
Tenya raises his hand high as he stood up with his chair doing a harsh screech. "Sir Aizawa! Are you sure you're in a condition to be teaching?"
Aizawa proceeds to the front. "My well-being is second to teaching. More importantly, the battle has yet to end. We will all have to get more serious as we approach the coming weeks."
"Battle?"
"Not yet over?"
"I told you there'd be more Villains."
"Kaminari, I will stab your ears again if you have that smug look on your face."
"Silence..." Aizawa lazily insisted. "The UA Sports Festival is around the corner." Silence reigned before the entire class loudly exclaimed their excited feeling for a normal event after everything they'd gone through as a class. "I told them to be silent..."
Kyoka Jiro raised her hand. "But sir? Is it really okay to hold the sports festival after the attack on the school? Wouldn't it be too dangerous? What if they attack again?"
"That's the point, proceeding with the event will show our resilience and disaster management. UA won't just cower under a single Villain attack, we need to go through with the event for the sake of showing Japan we can handle it. Especially after one of the Villains in the attack on their way to Tartarus was intercepted by a third party."
Aizawa readjusts himself, feeling uncomfortable from the bandages covering his mouth before continuing. "This a great chance for all of you, the first of many ways to progress your career - the sports festival replaced the Olympic games, which became a mere formality, as the sporting event everyone tunes in and watches. Pro Heroes will be watching, showcase what you can do and you will go far."
"Man, I can't wait to show what I can do with my Quirk!" Eijiro pumps his fists into the air.
"Yeah, we need to be noticeable when we are out there. The Pros are going to make us their sidekicks if we get a good reaction from them. I need to train up my limits if I want that."
Ayaka felt worried for the person sitting in front of her, Izuku. 'He told me a while back that he's not good with cameras. He still doesn't have control over One for All. How will the sports festival go?'
Noon break approached and students prepared to leave but stayed to talk with classmates. Ayaka was one of them, focusing on her talk with the girls in the class.
"You must be really... excited... Uraraka." Ayaka saw her friend being more than just excited. It was like Ochaco was possessed by something because of how different she is.
"Yes!" Ochaco stomped a foot on the ground as she raised her fist into the air. "I need to do my best!" she turns to the others. "Let's work hard!"
"Uhh...yeah..." some of the others reacted.
Ayaka smiled at the sight. 'Seems she really needs to get herself shown for the sports festival. It's still 2 weeks since I've checked. Uraraka must have a good reason for being so excited about it.'
"Kamisato?" Tsuyu tapped her shoulder. Ayaka turned to see most of the A1 girls aside from Ochaco who was still chanting at the other students.
"Yaoyorozu, Tsu, Hagakure, Jiro? What do you need?"
"We are just here to see if you're all right. We couldn't talk right before class but it seemed like a good opportunity now. You were the one who fought the Villains in the center, right?" Momo asked to clarify.
"Thank you for caring about something so small about me. I appreciate it." She answers the question Momo raised, "Why do you ask? The television should have shown the reports correctly."
Momo responds by swaying her head. "No, Tsu just finds it odd." she points to Tsuyu. Who Ayaka converses with next.
"May I ask how you came to this reasoning?"
"Well, I'd rather be direct - As you know my Quirk makes me have the physical makeup of a frog, which includes going into hibernation. When I was carrying Sir Aizawa away after Midoriya told me to, I was already meters away from the entrance to the USJ. Then my body almost immediately went limp from my reaction to the cold that reached me."
Momo slightly raises her hand. "I can attest to that, after Jiro and I finished our fight with Villains, we headed to where the entrance was to evacuate. No.13 was doing her best to move us along while she kept others from the main fight. We didn't see much but as we were headed to the school by that moment, everyone felt the cold. We all assumed you went over the limit."
"Which brings me to my suspicions, Kamisato. You say you can't handle something so large-scale so how on earth did you find enough strength to fight something that even All Might had trouble with soon after? The reports say that you did it since the Villain was encased in ice and had cut marks all across its limbs before freezing."
Ayaka had a way to explain but she was still caught off guard by the observation. 'Everyone has already figured that out? It seems the teachers may have under-assessed how quickly they would conclude that something was up.'
"To tell you the truth..." she winces at the word. "I've not known my Quirk was different since I faced such a desperate situation. I couldn't think, something from my Quirk revealed itself while I fought them off. I don't have control over ice, my Quirk is Blizzard - it's the reason why I could throw the ball farther than Todoroki."
"That's rare. I've only seen a few instances of people undergoing Quirk Awakenings. But it only happens under intense feelings of the stress of life-threatening situations..." Momo suddenly realizes the nature of the conversation. "Oh! I'm so sorry for asking. We shouldn't have asked if it was that traumatizing!"
"I'm okay with it. It just shows you care to learn about it, just like the others. I'm really glad I could call you all... friends." she twiddles her thumbs at the thought.
A yell came from the other side of the room. Tenya had caught Ayaka's attention since they were about to leave. "Kamisato! We're going for lunch, tell us if we need to save a seat for you."
"No need, Iida. I'll join you shortly." she waves back before turning to the group. "If that is all, I'll be on my way. You can always contact me through my phone if you wish to continue."
Ayaka exited the room and walked along the halls with Izuku's frequent squad. As they did small talk while walking, Izuku brought up an interesting question.
"Uraraka? Why did you want to come to UA to become a pro Hero?"
She turns around while rubbing the back of her head. "It's not much like you, Deku. I want to become a hero for the money."
"Money? You want to become a hero for money?"
"Ultimately...yes. It's selfish of me, you three have such great motivations for being a hero."
Ayaka responds. "I don't see anything wrong with working for your livelihood. Being a Hero isn't gatekept, it is a job for helping same as any other work like a doctor or firefighter. I am curious as to why."
"Well, you see. My family owns a construction company but they never get any clients so we're poor."
"So being a Hero doubles as an advertisement for your parent's company and your Quirk certificate would allow you to use it to cut costs. It's not a bad reason to be a Hero."
Ochaco shuffles around. "That's what I also told my parents. Instead of accepting, they told me to follow what I really want. Now that I'm here - I'm going to work hard to become a hero so that they both can take it easy."
A small pause happens before Tenya energetically whips his arms around while doing frantic movements. "So that's why! Bravo! What a stellar reason! Your parents must be proud!"
"Ehehe...it's nothing much."
Ayaka at that moment smiled. It was the same feeling she had when she saw her brother working hard. Especially after the death of her parents. She always grew up looking at her mother and father working hard, it was a similar fate. Ochaco and Ayaka had something in common.
"Uraraka, I feel the same way. Seeing someone who has taken care of you for so long and seeing them hard at labor makes you want to let them take it easy and take on their work. You're doing great Uraraka, let's work hard... maybe then you can make your parents happy if you do so."
"Thanks! Let's do our best in the sports festival!"
Izuku had heard of Ayaka's story. It was long, enough to fill in hours just to complete her entire life up until she could remember. It was jarring for Izuku but it was a nice experience.
He could still remember Ayaka telling them about the seven gods were, what power and mystical mysteries Teyvat held. He was about to gush over the possibilities but when it came to personally know about Ayaka, he went quiet.
Izuku was shocked to know Ayaka had been parentless for a lot of her life and that she wasn't actually 16 like she told them. She's practically an adult from how much experience she had, especially when she told them that she was fighting when she wasn't handling monumental tasks from her position as the de-facto image of the Kamisato Clan.
Everyone had something to say but didn't open their mouths to speak. Everyone was still processing if Ayaka has been telling the truth. Though, what was certain was that Izuku knew a little bit more about Ayaka and her troubles.
'Kamisato... she's never been vocal about it but I've always thought about how she felt all those years in her home with her parents. Now that they're gone... I can't help but think I understand why she keeps to herself, she must think she needs to handle problems - so that she doesn't lose or inconvenience those close to her...'
Suddenly, a boisterous hearty laugh made them turn to an isolated corner to see All Might peeking out. "Hahahahaha! I found you! Midoriya, Kamisato!"
"All Might! What is it?"
"...Lunch?" he shyly asked.
All Might prepared tea they sat inside a room being occupied by All Might, Izuku, and Ayaka. They exchanged small talk before All Might got their attention on an important topic.
"First off, let me say again that I'm sorry for making you fight so hard Ayaka. When I wanted to retain my time limit, I never knew how much stronger Nomu was until it was too late. Though, because of that I still have 2 and a half hours on me."
Izuku looked down from the guilt. "So from 3 hours to 2 and a half... Still, if I wasn't there to get almost grabbed by that Villain-"
"-Hahaha! Stop apologizing, I get enough of that from Kamisato and you. It all ended well despite the hiccups. Now then, we have an upcoming event to participate in - the sports festival."
"The sports festival..."
"You still can't control One for All, can you? I've heard that you broke more bones during the USJ. What should we do?"
"...I guess the only thing I can do is train my body more until the sports festival. Kamisato? Would you be willing to help me with that?"
"No, sorry Midoriya."
The answer surprised Izuku and All Might. "Ayaka, are you going to train by yourself? Midoriya might be able to help."
"I don't intend to train, All Might. Remember what I have all told you? The Fatui have a goal in mind and that is to return, I don't know how but I want to get to Yokohama and get to the bottom of it."
"Ayaka, you're not going on your own are you?"
Ayaka didn't speak much after that, she shared what she had in mind but she wasn't sure if it would be right to include others in her problems.
"Sorry... it's just I still honestly don't know how you all would react. Up until this point, it's been my own problem to find out more about the Fatui."
"When's a good time?"
"...What?"
All Might chuckled. "If there is enough time for the others to come along then they are free to join. Is this Sunday a good time?"
"Yes, I always try going on the weekends. Are you all really sure? Won't the others decline if they are preparing for the Sports Festival?"
"Ask first, you'll be surprised how many of you students here want to help you without any qualms. You came from another world, if the Fatui are threatening to tear a rift between us, then wouldn't that count as Hero work?"
"Thank you... I still don't have any idea who is part of the Fatui there but I have a feeling after today's event they would be more active."
"If that's the case I'll be supervising you. Your Quirks can't be used so don't go into many fights. Go back to me after you find something out. It's still a few days until Sunday, so help out Midoriya with OFA if you can."
"Of course, it's been a goal of mine. I'll work hard alongside the others in the class."
