This Chapter is from Squall Leonhart's POV.
Flashes from a distant shore are all I can see of Dollet; the Communication Tower. Everything else is a blur in the distance. I do not know what it holds for my fellow cadets or me; all I know is that I will accomplish my mission no matter what the difficulty.
"Hey Squall are you coming or not?" a stout voice that brought me back to the reality of the dock we were standing on could only come form one person; Zell Dincht.
"Yeah I'm coming." I yelled in an agitated way.
We started toward the ship only to be stopped by an ominous voice from our left.
"Let me guess, I was paired up with a Chicken Wuss and...." Seifer Almasy paused mid sentence as our instructor, Quistis Trepe, walked on to the dock.
She looked at all three of us and proceeded to ask me if I was 'in charge' of our unit.
All I could do was nod my head before she said, "Well let's get this over with." in an agitated voice.
"Looks like your not to thrilled to accompany us on this little excursion of ours," Seifer whispered under his breath.
"No, Mr. Almasy I'm not thrilled at babysitting you three!" Quistis shot as she boarded the ship.
Five minutes later we were on our way to Dollet, and our first mission. We were to hold position at the town square and wait for further orders. What are they thinking making us hold position at the town square?
"Let's review our attack strategy gentlemen." Quistis said as she flipped on the view screen.
"We know our mission, sit and wait for the enemy to attack us and defend our position at the town square." Zell whispered to me as I started to walk away.
"Mr. Leonhart, where are you going?" Quistis demanded looking at me with a cold glare. She seemed furious for me leaving while she was talking.
"Out for some fresh air, why?" I said, with a bit of agitation in my voice.
I stepped out on the deck and Dollet lay in front of me. Bright flashes and distant gunfire are all that I can see or hear. I begin to climb down the ladder when the driver gunned the engines and we head toward the beach. All I heard was the sound of Zell popping his knuckles in anticipation of our first real mission as I sat down in my seat, only to be thrown out by us going over a wall heading toward our entrance point.
"Here we go!!" Zell yelled in a maniacal voice.
We plunged into the sand. All that could be heard was the sound of guns going off and our footsteps as we moved ourselves into position. Our path was not very difficult but it wasn't that hard to defeat the Gabaldian soldiers, I mean come on, they are pushovers. Now we are sitting in the square and have nothing to do because we can't leave our post. Yeah right like I'm going to follow that order.
"The enemies that way" I point toward the Communication Tower "lets go and see what they are up to." I said as I ran toward the Communication Tower; Zell and Seifer trailing me. What was up ahead I didn't know but all I know is that I will destroy anyone who comes in my way.
While off in the distant city of Esthar, Edea, the sorceress, was watching the scene. "He is the one I want and he is the one I will get." All that is heard is her laughter rolling off into the distance.....
