RECAP:
My eyes filled with tears again. " I'm sorry, I have betrayed you. And even though it was not my fault you will never be able to trust me again."
Sango stood up. " There is one way you could redeem yourself." I looked at her, surprised. " Take us to Naraku." She said.
END RECAP.
Chapter 8 I was surprised. " What makes you think that I can take you to Naraku?" I asked.
" Well you have been there before." Sango said slowly. " So, why wouldn't you be able to take us there now?"
"Your forgetting something." I said. " I was under Naraku's control at that time. I don't remember how to get to Naraku's castle now."
Sango looked down at the ground. " Oh, I see." She said in a downcast tone.
I felt horrible. After everything I had done, I couldn't even fulfill Sango's one request. It was really a small thing to ask in recompense for all I had done. Then it clicked in my mind, and I knew what to do. " All right." I said.
" All right, what?" Sango asked.
" I'll take you to Naraku."
Sango looked confused. " But I thought you said that you couldn't get there on your own."
" I can with Naraku's help." I said. Sango still looked puzzled. I sighed. " Look, I don't think that Naraku is just going to let me go free. He can still reestablish the connection to my mind. He has probably already thought of another way to use me. So all you have to do is go back and tell Inuyasha and the others to monitor me from a distance."
" Then when Naraku summons you we can follow." Sango finished. I nodded. " But do you think that will really work Katsu?"
I shrugged." I'm not sure, but what do you have to lose?"
Sango smiled. " Okay, I'll go tell the others."
One week later.
Naraku sat in his castle, contemplating his great victory with Katsu. Something perverse inside of him had always enjoyed pain. And the look on Katsu's face when she realized that she had nearly killed one of her friends, had reminded him how much me enjoyed his masochistic instincts
And now he was calling her back to perform the final round in the twisted game he had created. And he had the perfect finale. He contemplated the look that would be on Sango's face when Katsu killed Kohaku right before her eyes.
At that moment, Kanna walked into the room in her eerie ghost like way. " Katsu has arrived." She whispered. Behind her Katsu appeared, with the same lost expression all of Naraku's slaves wore.
Naraku chuckled. " You have lived up to all my expectations Katsu. But there is one other thing you must do."
Naraku grinned, but suddenly his expression hanged to one of disbelief. " What?!" He snarled, his usual calm exterior diminishing. " How can this be?!"
Kagura came running in. " Naraku! Inuyasha is right outside the castle!" She said, reaffirming his suspicions.
Realization washed over Naraku. He jerked his gaze up to meet Katsu's blank one. " You!" He said, he voice laced with hate. His hand lashed out and struck her across the face. Katsu fell to the floor, a bruise already forming on her cheek.
" Naraku, what will we do?" Kagura demanded, loosing patience.
The strained look on Naraku's face slowly turned to one of satisfaction. " We will let Katsu deal with them." Naraku said, smiling evilly.
Outside the group was walking cautiously up to the castle. " Remember the plan Inuyasha." Kagome reminded the half demon. " All the other times you let yourself be distracted by Naraku's incarnations. This might be our last chance. So you need to go straight for Naraku."
" Yeah." Inuyasha replied.
They were almost to the castle door, when Kagura stepped out. " How nice of you to grace us with your presence." She said as she opened her fan. " Blades of death!" She yelled, sending the blades of energy spiraling toward the group.
" Go Inuyasha!" Miroku yelled, as he avoided Kagura's attack. " Me and Sango will deal with her!"
" Right." Inuyasha said. He grabbed Kagome's hand and they both ran into the castle.
Sango and Miroku turned toward Kagura. Sango was getting ready to throw her boomerang, when she felt cold metal pierce through her arm. She looked and saw a sword sticking through her lower arm. It was the sword she had given to Katsu.
She turned around, even though she already knew who was standing behind her. " Katsu! what are you doing?!" Sango screamed. But from the lost expression on Katsu's face she knew that her words were useless. And then the battle began.
Sango blocked everyone of Katsu's attacks. But she seemed to be a much better fighter then before. And she never seemed to tire of attacking. Sango couldn't understand how that could be.
Kagura, seeing Sango's confusion laughed. " You can't beat her." She said. " Katsu has a jewel shard in her back. There is no way you can ever win."
Sango knew that Kagura was right. She already was injured and felt drained of energy. Sango looked behind her to see if Miroku was okay. She saw that he was blooded and lying on the ground not moving. Kagura was standing over him about to administer her last attack. Sango's heart lurched and she was filled with fear. Miroku she silently screamed.
Katsu took advantage of Sango's lack of attention and sliced her blade through Sango's shoulder. Sango fell to the ground, screaming in pain. She looked up into Katsu's face. " And now you will die." Katsu said softly.
Time seemed to stop, and there was an eerie silence. Then suddenly there was a blinding explosion. The light made Sango cover her eyes. When she opened them the castle around her was disintegrating until nothing was left. She looked at Katsu who had a very confused look on her face. " Sango, where are we?" She asked.
Sango sighed in relief. " He's gone Katsu. Naraku is dead."

Naraku is dead. Those words echoed through my mind, and warmed my soul. It was finally over. Sango went and knelled beside Miroku. I couldn't hear what they said to each other, but the happiness on their faces spoke louder then any words could have.
" Hey you guys!" Kagome's voice came floating over to us. I looked up and saw her and Inuyasha walking toward us. Sango went to meet her, and asked: " Kagome, did you see Kohaku anywhere?"
Kagome's face fell. She glanced back over her shoulder. I followed her gaze and saw the limp body of a boy in the distance.
I started after Sango who was already running toward him. When I reached her, she was a leaning over the lifeless body of her brother. Her tears dropping onto his old body.
" It wasn't supposed to end like this." She whispered. " I was supposed to find a was to save him."
" That was one of the last things Naraku did before he died." Kagome said, running up behind us. I was amazed that even after he was dead Naraku found a way to hurt Sango.
After that we buried Kohaku, I gave Kagome the shard from my back. While she was piecing the jewel back together, I noticed Sango walking off alone into the woods. I ran and caught up with her. We walked along in silence for a while, until Sango suddenly stopped and sat on the ground. I sat across from her.
" I'm really sorry about your brother Sango."
She smiled and nodded at me. " You know, I really thought that I would be able to save him." She said. " But ever since I met you, you have been my consolation. I messed up with Kohaku. I couldn't save him from Naraku. So when I found out that you were tangled up with Naraku, I was determined to save you. You were like my second chance. So although I am sad about Kohaku, I'm also happy that you survived."
I smiled sadly at her. " Thank you for not giving up on me." I said. We sat in silence for a while, then I asked, " Sango, now that Naraku is dead, what are you going to do?"
Sango didn't reply. She just smiled. I had a feeling that her answer had something to do with what Miroku had said to her earlier. I grinned and stood up. " Sango, tell the others goodbye for me, okay?"
She looked confused. " Your leaving?" She asked. I nodded. " You know Katsu, we are going to be making a wish with the jewel soon, and your welcome to stay with us as long as you want."
I smiled. " I know that, but forty years of my life has already been taken from me. I really don't want to waste another minute of my life."
" Where will you go?" Sango asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know. I just want to start a new life. Thank you for everything Sango. I'll never forget you." I turned and walked away. As I did I felt something that I hadn't felt in a long time. Freedom.
