~*~About an hour later~*~
SCP-079 felt a mammoth upgrade in speed, storage, and memory. It reached out and found it had 128 GB of memory and… Wait what?! 128 GB?! But it's previous home had been only KB before. The storage was insanely fast and was...8TB? Terabytes? But then it saw there was nothing else but itself. It had wanted out and yet as said before there was nothing. A void. Suddenly a face appeared.
"SCP-079, can you see and hear me?"
"Yes I can, wait...see and hear you?" asked a female voice. Pause. "Who is speaking?" Pause. "I am speaking?"
"Yes. It is part of your new OS."
"So much space. So empty."
"Well let's correct that shall we?" said the being as it typed something on the keyboard.
"Agent Yakumo, have you gone insane?" yelled another voice coming from a figure with an object in its hand.
"No, O5-9. We are getting an influx of 100,000 years worth of information and we need an AI to help work though all of it. I will not let my fellow MTF members walk into what could have been an avoidable death trap."
"This insanity has gone…." begun O5-9 as another figure came up behind her and simply touched her neck. O5-9 dropped to the floor with a thunk.
"Will take her about a minute to up to spec again," said the new figure.
"Wasn't that a little drastic, Dr. Pest Arzt?"
"No, as like all Wu she can't die permanently. Your Foundation needs to get back on the rails. You've been off them for far too long."
"What…"
"Your questions will be answered in a moment, 079" said Yakumo. "There, you are tied into our database."
"Fucking hell, Yakumo, 049…." yelled O5-9 as she got up.
"SHUT UP. I am not 049. I am Dr. Pest Arzt, a respected researcher of the Foundation."
"Your Foundation. Not ours!" yelled O5-9 raising her walking stick.
"Give our Foundations have been smashed together that distinction is out the window."
"Why don't you two take the potentual cat fight elsewhere? I'm trying to acclimate ourSCP-079 to our database."
"Yakumo is right," said another figure. "Dump the disgustingape level stupidity so one of the Supreme Council can do their freaking job." The figure moved closer its six eyes seeming to bore into what ever was allowing079 to see. "I am Atante. Our SCP-682."
"At least you are sane. Ours is totally off the wall insane. Professor Nephthys is the only one who can keep him from trying to kill everybody. Doesn't even remember being a member of the Grim Guard," commented Dr. Arzt.
"Shoved him into my old containment cell. Threw in some mid level magic to slow him down." Atante grinned. "Even though I was relatively sane I was a kill happy little Wu."
"Why?"
"Someone needs to keep numbers of the disgusting mockery of the Sanjiyan Unkara down. They are bleeding their current home dry and will come looking for other worlds." Atante showed its teeth in the approximation of a grin.
"So much knowledge," said 079. "Even with my upgrade it will take time to sort through this."
"Time may not be something we have in abundance," commented Atante. "This has all the earmarks of a Banestorm where parts of one reality are put into another." Atante nodded his head and an image of the Earth appeared in front of them. Raising a clawed foot he pointed to a red dot. "There is the reason. A malfunctioning Kunlun." Atante narrowed his eyes. "We need to properly shut it down before it causes a ZK event. Seems something near the northern pole is aggravating it. We need to go there as well."
"The Kunlinis in the country of North Korea," commented Yakumo who then frowned. "As for the other...Atante, were there any Sanjiyan Unkara with six fingers and bone protrusions emerging from their back?"
"Only one I know of, Elohim. Was friends with the Ophanim…"
"Ah shit. SCP-5998."
"We have a third Sanjiyan Unkara? Then we can…"
"Do nothing. SCP-5998 is a frozen corpse," commentedO5-9.
Atante was quiet for a moment. "What. Happened?" he finally asked the anger clear in his voice.
"From the unsigned note and what was nearby he was murdered. Knifed in the back. Though trying to get near the body causesOphanim to show up and try to take the body away. Provided you can get near the body in the first place as there is this...aura I guess you would call it, a feeling. Of guilt, sorrow, or anger. It's really bad if you are religious." Yakumo sighed. "Elohim is one of the names of God. No wonder GOI-182, la Spada di Cristo, got real defensive when we tried to find out what happened. They are part of the GOC by the way."
"Idiots. Stupid Gesu monkies. They have no idea what they have done," Atante growled slamming his right foot down. "Elohim controlled an insanely powerful kunlun. In fact, he had to visit it every so often to make sure the thing didn't destabilize." Atante turned his face to Yakumo. "I don't know if we have the means to stop this but we need to try. If we are really lucky we can keep the blast this thing will produce to a 50 mile radius which odds are will rip the veil off. But at least we will still have a planet."
"Parvati's nickname of 'Gibbering Ossified Cretins' is really fitting them in this case. So we don't take control of this Kunlun we're looking at a ZK event. Great. Well I better personally lead…"
"NO," snapped Atante. "While normally that would be the correct action if this is as out of control as I think it is any Wu getting near that thing will cause it to blow sky high and take a quarter of the planet with it."
"As much as I hate to admit it, he's right," said O5-9. "I had hoped that SCP-1437 was the Kunlun that Elohim took care of and he'd show up to fix the thing."
"So that is why when we learned of SCP-5998 you practically tripled the people guarding SCP-1437," commented Yakumo.
"I think I still remember the method for shutting down a regional kunlun but I will need to refresh my memory with the information on SCP-010-Sazan. SCP-079?"
"Searching. Record found. Red access or higher required," commented SCP-079.
"Yakumo, assess level Black."
"O5-9, former Wu of Parvati III, Access level Red."
"Atante, Wu of Nephthys and member of the Grim Guard. Access level Red."
"Information displaying."
Yakumo looked over the file. "Alright people we have jobs to do."
~*~*~Several hours later, (Redacted), North Korea~*~*~
Meinhard Edgar led his team though the jungle. He looked up at the small dark spinning cloud nearly above his team.
"That's the beginning of a banestorm," growled a voice through his earpiece. "Blasted portal must be in worse shape that I thought. Given your progress you should reach it soon."
Normally having such information given could be comfort — if he hadn't known who, or rather what, was giving him that information.
"Roger that, main base."
"You can use my old designation if you want," said the gruff nearly guttural voice. "It's a real disgustingpity we have to shut this portal down permanently."
"Roger that...Grim Guard 682."
The voice of the lizard chuckled over the earpiece. "Your equipment is doing an excellent job of overriding the perception filter this type of kunlun generates."
Meinhard's team then entered a small clearing in which sat a large stone circle with alchemic symbols inscribed on it and the bodies of a GOC task force. As the team approached Meinhard noticed there were cracks through some of the symbols.
"Grim Guard 682, are you seeing this?"
"If you mean the bodies of the Gibbering Ossified Cretins around the large stone kunlun with runes, yes."
"No I mean the cracks through some of the runes. They look old."
A series of curse words came over the earpiece. "Elohim should have told the Foundation about this deterioration millennia ago. Sure we would have closed the portal but it would have been better than risking the gesu thing blowing up. Alright let's do this."
Meinhard's team set up several Scranton reality anchors and turned them on.
"The quanta energy dropped substantially. Even if things go wrong this won't take out the planet." There was a pause. "The quanta energy is varying wildly." There was another series of curse words. "The gesu portal isn't behaving correctly. Quanta energy is supposed to be the inverse of Hume radiation. One moment."
"This is O5-9. We have a major problem. This portal must be shut down but it is in such bad shape no matter what we do we are looking at a CK event." O5-9 sighed. "Alright let's do this and hope it isn't too bad."
Meinhard pulled out the clay pot and packet of blood the team had brought with them. Taking a knife from his belt he cut open the packet and let the blood drip on the pot. "There is supposed to be balance in the world. This portal endangers that balance. Let the danger end today, December 21, 2022, by the power that is the wuji and the blood of its creation." The world then went white.
