Ms. Kelsey arrived at Troi's office. She wasn't expecting Troi to say they needed to update her treatment plan. Instead, Ms. Kelsey hoped it wouldn't take their whole session. She quickly confirmed where her depression and anger issues were.
However, given the circumstance of her life. Her abusive and disrespectful family. Plus, having no friends in the real world. How could she not be depressed and angry? Her sleeping depended on the day's events. She confirmed she'd never been suicidal or had a substance abuse problem.
It was long and tedious, but eventually, the questions were answered. Ms. Kelsey didn't enjoy being viewed as a negative person. However, she couldn't help but feel negative when there were very few positive moments. It wasn't easy to be happy when you're life sucks so badly.
She explained that when she wrote what she dubbed 'coffee stories." She used them to discuss topics she couldn't in real life. Since she didn't have a friends circle in real life, she had to use other characters to do it.
She didn't like how her aunt proclaimed the previous night that men would never talk about their feelings. In her writing, she wanted to avoid making blanket statements or stereotypes. Ms. Kelsey didn't like when people made assumptions about others. Indeed men could talk about their feelings. In her story, they spoke of their families and faith.
She didn't honestly know anything sport-wise. Plus, it felt wrong to stereotype men as not being able to talk about anything other than stereotypical men's stuff. So she thought she'd done a good thing making the brother-in-law speak to each other about something different then a football game.
She also confessed she was struggling to respect her mother's boundaries when it came to wanting to clean her apartment for her. Ms. Kelsey loved to help people. Plus, cleaning and organizing was her only real skill outside her creativity. So Troi was a bit disturbed when Ms. Kelsey informed her of the roach problem she was having in her living space and how they exploded everywhere!
They didn't have much time to discuss much else, given doing the treatment plan took up most of their time. However, she did agree with Ms. Kelsey it was fair to ask why someone didn't pick up on her social cues about her getting agitated.
Plus, Deanna, too, felt she'd gotten into a pool lane if it was unoccupied. Regardless, if someone left their stuff, you wouldn't know how long they were gone or if they just left it there. Ms. Kelsey appreciated Deanna's feedback and hoped they'd have more time to talk next week. Then she left to have lunch.
