Cora, Alain, Mairin and their Pokémon were on their way to Cerulean City.
"According to my PokéNav, we're headed to Mt. Moon where we'll pass onto Cerulean City." Alain informed Cora and Mairin as the gang were walking along the path to Cerulean City.
Cora remembered what had happened in the episode with the Clefairy. She wondered if it would be a different kind of plot twist in this part. She hoped to catch a Clefairy and a Sandshrew at Mt. Moon.
"Mt. Moon?" Mairin asked.
"From what I know, a very long time ago a meteor crashed into that mountain. The meteor is called the Moonstone." Cora replied.
"Moonstone? What's that?" Mairin asked.
"It's an evolutionary stone," Alain replied and glanced at Mairin, "I thought you were listening when dad was talking about the Moonstone."
Mairin chuckled nervously as Chespie sighed. "So what Pokémon can evolve with the Moonstone?" She asked.
"It turns a Clefairy into a Cleffable, Jigglypuff into Wigglytuff, Munna into Musharna." Cora replied.
"Nidorina into Nidoqueen, Nidorino into Nidoking, and Skitty into Delcatty." Alain added.
The group were brought out of their thoughts when they heard a scream in the distance.
"Somebody's in trouble, let's go!" They ran towards the sound of the scream and saw someone getting attacked by a flock of Zubat.
"Zubat? In broad daylight?" Alain questioned.
Cora took out her Rotom phone.
[Zubat, blind Pokémon with supersonic powers. Zubat lives in caves and hates to fly outside in daylight.]
"If they hate daylight then why are they outside?" Mairin asked.
"Doesn't matter right now!" Cora said, "That guy needs help first. Quick Kilala, use Swift!""
Kilala summoned a bunch of stars from her tail and launched them at the wild Zubat's which stunned them and made them leave in a hurry, screeching. Cora ran up to the moaning man.
"Are you okay?" Cora stiffened when the man suddenly got up and hugged her.
"Wow, you're the greatest!" He shouted while crying behind his round glasses.
"Really...it was nothing." Cora tried to say as she was being suffocated by the man.
"That was really superfantabulistic! I give two thumbs up!" He continued as he kept smothering both Cora and Perun, who was growing quite tired of it. "The best rescue I've ever had!"
Alain pulled Cora away and Perun electrified the scientist that was smothering them both.
Cora looked up at Alain as he held her in his arms. Then her cheeks blushed pink, "Th-Thank you, Alain." She stuttered.
Alain unwrapped his arms around and stepped back, "You're welcome." He blushed as he rubbed the back of his head.
The scientist fell over but recovered annoyingly quickly.
"They say that man's best friend is a Pokémon," he adjusted his glasses, "and with you two I believe it." He said with a smile and conviction, his fist raised in emphasis.
Cora hugged Kilala and Perun to her, looking unsure. "Umm, that's nice." she said uncertainty.
"I'm so moved," he continued. "Such friendship I thought I'd never see when the Zubat began attacking me. I thought I was done for when who should arrive my new hero thanks to whom I'm alive! I'm aliiiiivee!" He shouted exuberantly, creeping Cora out. "Thank you so much! Thank you!"
"He certainly doesn't look like the poetic type." Mairin muttered.
"Indeed." Alain agreed.
"Did I mention how grateful I am?" He said, grabbing Cora's wrists and making Kilala and Perun's ears flatten and glared at the proximity.
Cora sweat dropped, "Um, yeah, but why were the Zubat attacking you, mister?"
He gasped. "Never call me mister! My name is Seymour. Seymour the scientist! Knowledge! Research! I am Seymour the scientist!"
The gang and their Pokémon just stared at him.
"What an odd man." Mairin commented.
Alain nodded, "Yeah."
"Well anyway, My name's Cora and this is Kilala and Perun."
"I'm Alain."
"I'm Mairin and this Chespie."
"Nice to meet you all." Seymour greeted, "As for the reason they attacked me is because of this..." Pointing at the cave.
Inside of the cave were lights hanging along the rock walls. Seymour led them inside the cave.
"These lights are the reason why." Seymour explained, "The cave is so light up. Somebody set up these lights purposely throughout the whole cave. But the Pokémon who live here in this cave need the darkness. They're confused and aggressive."
"It doesn't surprise me really," Alain said, "Zubat doesn't like the sunlight very much."
"And it's not just Zubat that the lights are causing trouble for," Seymour informed, "It's causing trouble for all the Pokémon. Paras are planting their mushrooms everywhere and are drying up the Sandshrew."
"That explains why the Zubat attacked you when the sun was still out." Cora stated.
"And look over there," Seymour pointed, "The Paras are planting their mushrooms everywhere, while the lights are causing the Sandshrew to become weak and exhausted." He said sadly.
Cora looked at the poor Sandshrew and walked over to it followed by Kilala and Perun. Taking out a canteen and a bowl she uses for Pokémon food she filled up the bowl with water, "Here you go little guy, drink up."
Sandshrew didn't need to be told twice and began drinking the water like it hadn't had any in days.
"My goodness! I've never seen a trainer like her before!" Seymour observed, "Such kindness!"
"That's Cora for you. She is the daughter of Nurse Joy." Alain said.
Putting the canteen away Cora took out an Oran berry, "Try this.'' The Sandshrew took the blue colored berry from her and ate it.
"Shrew!" it said with glee.
"Still, I wonder who put up all these lights?" Cora stood up. Out of the corner of her eye she saw something pink walking with something in its hand, "A Clefairy!"
Everyone turned to see the little fairy Pokémon.
"Wow, a real Clefairy." Mairin said.
Cora took out her Rotom Phone.
[Clefairy. This impish Pokémon is friendly and peaceful. It is believed to live inside Mt. Moon, although very few have ever been seen by humans.]
"Look what it's carrying," Alain pointed out, "It's a Moonstone."
"You're right," Seymour agreed, "I know, if we follow that Clefairy it might lead us to the meteorite."
Suddenly they heard a cry.
"What was that?" Mairin asked.
"That must be the Clefairy!" Cora gasped before she and the others ran to the source of the cry. It was Team Rocket's Meowth, "Meowth!"
"It's the twerp!" Meowth exclaimed when he turned and saw the gang and their Pokémon.
Clefairy took this chance to hide behind Cora's leg and shivered. Cora gently patted the frightened Pokémon.
"Don't worry, we'll keep you safe." Cora assured the little Pokémon which caused her to stop shivering. Then Cora, Kilala and Perun turned to Meowth. "I should have known that you guys were causing trouble here."
"Did somebody say trouble?" a female voice asked.
"And make it double?" a male's voice said.
It was Jessie and James from Team Rocket.
The group stared at them as they said their motto.
"Prepare for trouble," Jessie said.
"Make it double," James said.
"To protect the world from devastation,"
"To unite all people within our nation,"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love,"
"To extend our reach to the stars above,"
"Jessie,"
"James,"
"Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light,"
"Surrender now and prepare to fight,"
"Meowth that's right!" Meowth said.
"I can't believe that it's you guys again." Cora and Alain groaned.
"You know these guys?" Seymour asked.
"Unfortunately." Mairin replied.
"Team Rocket are a group who steal people's Pokémon." Alain added.
"But to our point of view, they're just a bunch of annoying clowns." Cora commented.
"That's just plain rude!" James yelled.
"You're just jealous because we won't let you join us." Jessie taunted.
"Like we would join an evil organization that has clowns like you three!" Cora yelled angrily.
"Are you three the ones who put up all these lights?" Seymour demanded, "You're hurting the Pokémon that live here!"
"Oh who cares about them," Jessie waved uncaringly, "We're only after the Moonstone."
"Of course," James added, "We need the lights to find the moonstone."
"You won't get away with this!" Alain shouted, "If it's a rock you want, just take one of these," He pointed at the ground rocks, "and get lost!"
"Get lost? How rude!" Jessie fumed, "You twerps need to be taught some manners."
Jessie and James released Ekans and Koffing from their pokéballs.
"If it's a battle you want, we'll give you one," Cora released her Butterfly Pokémon, "Papilio, I choose you!"
"Go Zubat!" Alain said and released the Bat Pokémon.
Cora was surprised that Alain had a Zubat.
"I caught it before we entered the cave," he explained.
Cora nodded and turned to Kilala and Perun. "Kilala, Perun, lead Mairin, Seymour and the Clefairy out of here while Alain and I take care of Team Rocket."
"Espeon/Pika!" Kilala and Perun saluted and left with Mairin, Seymour, and Clefairy.
"Ekans, use Bite!"
"Koffing, use Tackle!"
Ekans was about to use Bite on Papillo, while Koffing was about to use Tackle on Zubat.
"Papilio, use Supersonic!" Papilio released light blue circles from his mouth at Ekans, confusing it.
"You too Zubat, use Supersonic!" Zubat did the same as Papilio sending light blue circles at Koffing making it confused too. The poison Pokémon ended up attacking themselves.
"What are you two doing?!" Jessie growled.
"You're supposed to be attacking them, not yourselves!" James yelled.
Cora snorted, "Blast them away with Whirlwind!" Papilio flapped his wings creating a strong gust of wind sending it at Team Rocket blowing them away.
"TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF!" James yelled.
"YOU MAY HAVE WON THIS ROUND BUT WE'LL BE BACK!" Jessie added.
DING!
"Great job, Papilio." Cora praised.
"Free." Papilio blushed as he landed on her shoulder.
"You too, Zubat." Alain complimented Zubat as he landed on Alain's shoulder and nuzzled his cheek.
Cora blinked when she noticed a certain Pokémon was missing from Team Rocket.
"Wait a minute, Meowth! I didn't notice that cat with them!" Cora realized.
"Neither did I," Alain realized too, "We better find the others right away."
The two took off in the same direction that the others went. They hoped that they were okay.
Cora and Alain finally caught up to the others.
"Hey you guys alright?" Cora asked.
"Espeon!/Pikachu! (Cora!)" Kilala and Perun leaped into Cora's arms.
"Don't worry, we're all fine. Kilala, Perun and Chespie sent that cat flying." Mairin replied as she hugged her brother and he hugged her back.
Cora let out a sigh of relief.
"How about we take a break?" Alain suggested.
Everyone nodded at that.
When sunset came, they were all taking a break.
"It's impressive that you know how to make your own Pokémon food, Cora." Alain complimented.
"Thanks, but the credit goes to my mom. I just added a few things into the food." Cora admitted as she handed her Pokémon food to all of her Pokémon who were enjoying it very much including the Clefairy.
Cora had to admit that it was cute how relaxed Clefairy was around her Pokémon. She had a feeling that her Pokémon would get along with any kind of Pokémon. Then Jackal (Shiny Lucario) walked up to them.
"What is it, Jackal?" Cora asked.
"(Clefairy wants us to come to the ceremony)." Jackal replied.
"Ceremony?" Mairin replied.
"I believe it's the ceremony when the Clefairy become Clefable, right?" Alain guessed.
Jackal nodded.
"Well then, let's get going." Cora decided.
Everyone nodded and followed the Clefairy.
Clefairy led the group to a crater in the cave where they saw a full moon shining on a giant Moonstone in the middle of the crater.
"It's the Moonstone!" Seymour beamed.
"So beautiful." Cora and Mairin were enchanted.
"This is an amazing display. I didn't think a Moonstone could get this big." Alain stared at the amazing sight.
"Fascinating! I've never seen such a magnificent sight!" Seymour was on cloud nine.
Just then a bunch of Clefairy, Cleffa, and Clefable appeared just as a blue light shined on the giant Moonstone, they approached it and began to dance and pray to it.
"Wow, look at all of the Clefairy, Cleffa, and Clefable have gathered around." Mairin spotted the Fairy Pokémon as Cora took out her Rotom phone and recorded.
"I see," Cora realized, "the Clefairy pray to the Moonstone so that they can evolve into Clefable."
"So the Moonstone is really a giant evolutionary stone." Alain added.
Seymour watched in amazement, "It is said that humans are supposed to ride the stone to the stars."
"Oh really?" Mairin's brow arched, skeptical about that.
At that moment, an explosion came out from the ground.
"What just happened?" Seymour shouted.
Then laughter was heard.
"Oh no." Cora groaned. "Not them again."
"Thank you for leading us to the Moonstone," Jessie chuckled, "Now we'll just take it for ourselves and be on our way."
"You can't do that!" Seymour protested as he stood in front of the Moonstone, "Leave the Moonstone alone! It belongs to the Clefairy!"
"We can and we will." James smirked.
More explosions went off, causing smoke to cover the area. Once the smoke cleared, the Moonstone was gone.
"Oh no, the Moonstone!" Seymour panicked. Then he became determined, "We have to get it back!"
"Maybe that big hole will lead us to them." Alain suggested and released his Steelix, "Let's go Steelix!"
Steelix roared.
"Steelix, follow the tunnel that Team Rocket left behind and stop them!" Alain pointed to the big hole.
Steelix dove underground and followed after the criminals.
"Let's follow it!" Cora shouted and everyone followed with the Clefairy behind them.
Team Rocket were sliding down the hill on a sledge, the Moonstone tied to it.
They easily believed that their plan worked, when suddenly Steelix came out of the ground in front of them and stopped them.
"Hold it right there, Team Rocket!" Cora shouted, "You're not taking the Moonstone anywhere!"
"Why you! You'll pay for that!" Jessie growled, having Ekans out of his Pokéball already.
"That's right!" James said, doing the same as Jessie already having his Koffing out.
"It's payback time!" Meowth got his claws out.
Before they could order their Pokémon to attack, something struck Ekans from underground knocking it in front of Jessie.
"What was that?" Jessie asked, shocked.
The mysterious attacker stood in front of Cora, who recognized the Pokémon instantly.
"Sandshrew!" Cora gasped.
"Sandshrew!" Sandshrew greeted her.
Cora took out her Rotom Phone and scanned the Pokémon in front of her.
[Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokémon. Sandshrew hate water, it lives in deep burrows in arid areas. It can protect itself by curling into a ball.]
Mairin gasped when she recognized the Pokémon, "Hey! That's the same Sandshrew Cora gave water and a berry to!"
"It's definitely the same one. But what's it doing here?" Alain questioned.
"You're here to help, aren't you Sandshrew?" Cora asked.
"Shrew!" Sandshrew smiled.
"Thank you." Cora smiled and took out her Rotom Phone.
[This Pokémon knows the moves: Defense Curl, Scratch, Sand Attack, Poison Sting, Rollout, Rapid Spin, Protect, Magnitude, Swift, and Fury Cutter.]
"Pretty impressive." Cora complimented.
"Sandshrew!" Sandshrew smiled.
"You'll pay for that surprise attack!" James declared.
"I doubt it." Cora said, "Use Fury Cutter!"
Sandshrew charged at Koffing, slashing it repeatedly with its claws, knocking it into James, sending him to the ground.
Jessie and Meowth managed to get Koffing off of James, but the man was knocked out cold with swirls in his eyes.
"Come on James snap out of it!" Jessie shook him, trying to wake him up.
"He's knocked out cold." Meowth stated.
"That's it!" Jessie exclaimed annoyed, "Meowth!"
"Rrrighttt!" Meowth growled and charged towards Sandshrew.
"Sandshrew, Rapid Spin!" Cora ordered.
Sandshrew curled into a ball and rolled towards Meowth who got rammed into the face and was sent flying until he fell at Jessie's feet. Sandshrew jumped and uncurled itself as it landed in front of Cora.
They were about to continue the battle when the Clefairy appeared out of the hole that was created by Onix.
"Espe espeon. (It's the Clefairy.)" Kilala said.
Mairin sweat dropped when someone else's head stuck out of the hole, "And Professor Seymour."
The Clefairy stood in front of the group, sending mad looks at Team Rocket. They were not happy with what they had done. All at once they began moving their fingers back and forth chanting.
"What's going on?" Jessie asked, looking at the Fairy Pokémon.
"They're moving their arms." Meowth replied, "This way, that way."
Team Rocket and their Pokémon soon moved their heads, following the Clefairy's hands.
"The move is called 'Metronome'," Seymour explained, moving his head left and right following the Clefairy attack, "It makes a Clefairy do an attack, but you can never tell what attack they'll do."
"What's Metronome?" Mairin asked as she and the others followed the Clefairy's movements as well.
"It randomly selects a move using it at full power." Cora told her.
"Full power?" Mairin suddenly had a thought, "Meaning any move can come out of it like a Hyper Beam!"
The Clefairy's fingertips began glowing white alerting everyone that they were about to unleash their attack.
"Here it comes." Seymour said.
As their fingertips kept glowing white until it was replaced by orange alerting Cora who knew what attack was coming, "Sandshrew, get over here hurry!" The ground type ran over to the girl.
"It's a Hyper Beam attack! Everyone get down!" Cora shouted.
"Steelix, Protect!" Alain ordered.
The Iron Snake Pokémon curled around the group and projected a green colored barrier around them except for Team Rocket.
The attack hit Team Rocket and sent them flying into the night sky.
"Grrr, I wanted that Moonstone!" Jessie complained.
"It doesn't suit ya!" Meowth growled.
James had no comment because he was still unconscious.
"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" Jessie and Meowth shouted.
DING!
"Great job, you guys." Cora complimented the two Pokémon.
Steelix and Sandshrew smiled.
Mairin looked over at the giant Moonstone and saw it was in tiny pieces, "Guys look! The Moonstone shattered!"
They all looked and saw she was right. The once beautiful giant stone was now into little pieces.
"It must've been the Hyper Beam attack." Alain stated.
The shards of the once big Moonstone landed on some of the Clefairy who started glowing.
"They're evolving!" Cora stared in awe, as did the others.
As the glowing light died down some of the Clefairy were now Clefable making Seymour smile from ear to ear, "They must've been the chosen Clefairy to evolve into Clefable!"
Cora scanned them with her Rotom phone.
[Clefable, an advanced form of Clefairy. These unique creatures are among the rarest Pokémon in the world.]
The Clefairy and Clefable were all celebrating happily, and everyone got to stay and join them. All in all, it was a fun night for everyone to enjoy.
It was the next morning for the group. Packed and ready to go they were all outside the cave getting ready to leave but not before saying goodbye to Seymour and the Clefairy and Clefable.
"I can't thank you all enough for all you've done." Seymour said.
"Thanks, but we didn't do anything, it was the Clefairy." Cora denied.
Alain nodded, "That's right, the Clefairy were the ones you should be grateful to."
Just then a Clefable and a Clefairy were carrying something in their hands and walked up to the group along with Sandshrew.
"Huh? What's wrong, you three?" Cora asked confused as to why the three of them were outside and not inside the cave.
Clefable and Clefairy gave the round objects to Cora and Alain who took it in confusion.
"Hey, it's a Pokémon egg." Alain said.
"You really want us to have these?" Cora asked.
Clefable and Clefairy nodded. Then Clefable and Sandshrew pointed at the Pokéballs on her belt while Clefairy pointed at Mairin's.
"I think they want to go with you, Cora, Mairin." Alain concluded.
"Is that true?" Cora asked.
Clefable, Clefairy and Sandshrew nodded. Cora and Mairin smiled and let Alain hold the eggs as Cora took out two Pokéballs and Mairin took out one. They tapped them on their foreheads, and they were sucked inside. They wiggled for a second and the red light stopped blinking. Three successful captures.
After that, the group continued on towards Cerulean City.
Cora's egg was in an incubator that Prof. Oak had given to her. It really was a good thing that he gave it to her before she left. Alain's was in an incubator as well.
"Check it out, it's a sign." Cora walked up to it.
It read:
Cerulean City
Alain noticed some writing on the sign, "Hey, there's something written on it."
Then they looked at what was scribbled on it.
'Gary was here! Cora is a loser! Ash is an even bigger loser!'
"Gary Oak, you are so immature." Cora commented, rolling her eyes.
"Being immature is one of Gary Oak's redeeming qualities." Alain dead panned.
"Agreed." Cora said. "Anyways, let's go. I can't wait until we see him at the league and kick his arrogant butt." She walked ahead of them with Kilala and Perun walking beside her.
Alain and Mairin smiled in amusement at that and followed the three, catching up with them.
