Heyla, just a one-shot that has been sitting on my laptop for months, and I decided to post it and see what people think.
"So fair," whispered Grima, "so fragile, and all alone." Eowyn sobbed. It was true, she knew it, her brother had been banished, her cousin dead, and her uncle would only listen to Grima. She went back to her cousin and knelt at his side, twisting her hands and hiding her face in the sheer white shroud that covered him. She felt more than heard him come slowly and quietly up behind her, and she stiffened with a surge of fear and anger as a claw-like hand came to rest on her shoulder
"Leave me alone, I want nothing to do with you, snake." She tried to shrug the hand off and rise to exit the room, but he held her down with a strength that contrasted oddly with his physique. She managed to turn around on her knees and was surprised when he knelt down in front of her so that they were face to face, his hands were still clamped around her arms, forcing her to stay where she was, to listen to him.
"They've all left you, haven't they?" he asked gently, "no one cares about little Eowyn except for me, do they?"
"They do care, you evil bastard." She shouted tearfully.
"Then why aren't they here?" he asked softly, "if your brother cared, he would have taken you with him, your cousin didn't try to stay alive to help you, he didn't care, and your uncle is too wrapped up in running his kingdom to care about a lonely girl. They all left you, all except for me, I have not left." He fingered a couple of strands of her hair, tugging them gently to one side, she made no resistance as her head drew closer to his hand and eventually rested against it. Her eyes were glazed, as if she was staring into the distance and shining with unshed tears.
"It's true," she whispered brokenly, "they all left." Her gaze transferred to Grima's eyes, "They don't care about me, do they?" Her body was wracked with silent sobs, and she sunk even further to the floor, skirts pooling around her.
"Shh, it will all be alright, I'm here, and I'm not going to leave you. Never." Eowyn didn't know wether she was crying because they all left or because Grima wouldn't leave.
She decided to cry for both.
