Fat Gum was inside his office, finishing up some paperwork from late last week. He popped a small doughnut in his mouth, glancing up when Kirishima and Alice entered the room. "Afternoon Riot! Just in time!" He stood and walked around his table, offering a hand to Alice. "And a pleasure to you Ms. Rise. Im glad you could join us. Congrats on the license." He beamed excitedly. Fat Gum had offered to take the girl after hearing about her exam through the grape vine. The Pro-heroes were talking about it, some were apprehensive to have someone with such trauma out on the field, but he had his hopes. Alice had excellent scores and had done well with the first two tasks, he had no doubt in his mind that she would be a fantastic addition to any team.
"Thank you for taking me on! My Hero name is Lucidity. So you can call me either that or by my first name. I dont mind in the slightest." Alice gave an awkward bow, to which Fat Gum laughed and waved her bow off.
"Its not a problem, Lucid." He grinned. "Gang Orca talked highly of you, so I figured why not give you a chance?" Fat Gum was pretty relieved that the girl was as friendly as she was. Kirishima had been pumped that she would be joining them, so he took the males word that she'd fit in. "For now, Ill give you guys a little bit to wander around and have Kirishima introduce you to the rest of the Agency. We will start patrol work after lunch and teach you how to fill out the paper work associated with it."
Both of the kids saluted the male, which he laughed and ushered them off. They went around to the Agency, getting introduced to some to Fat Gum's people. Alice hit it off really well with just about everyone. She was friendly and outgoing and even had a full conversation with Tamaki. Of course, Tetsu Tetsu was thrilled that she was in the agency with them. He had joined a bit after Kirishima and had only really heard about her through the male or the other students. Although he was class 1-B, he didnt think the whole weird rivalry between the students was really needed.
Fat Gum approached them later in the day after lunch, he was snacking per usual and greeted the pair excitedly. "Are you ready for your first Patrol? We will keep it simple and up the difficulty as the week goes on."
Kirishima, Alice, and Tetsu Tetsu were all sitting around a table talking about the patrol before Fat Gum had walked up. He wasnt surprised, the two boys were always one step ahead in learning. Alice had a small notebook open and was even taking notes. Fat Gum grinned wider, "Im glad you guys are teaching her the ropes and getting caught up. Itll make the next few days easier."
True to that, the next few days were easier. Alice took a lot of notes and did well on the patrols. She talked to civilians and let kids pet Chess, she seemed like a natural when it came to social interaction outside of the Agency. It was like she was a whole different person when she had her hero costume on.
Fat Gum had heard more about the girl through WildSpire. They had been good friends in high school and she explained Alice's past trauma and how the girl worked. It made getting to know her easier. She was determined and willing to fight, a lot of her personality was similar to Kirishima, but it seemed she had horrible social anxiety when it came to speaking outside her costume- a bit like Tamaki.
Kirishima had shoved his hands in his pockets as they headed down the block towards the Agency. He'd been specifically working with Alice to help with her confidence and overall abilities. They had been assigned as Patrol buddies while with Fat Gum, "So you gotta spill on two things." He said and nudged her arm. "First, you like Uraraka? Like- like like?" He rose his brows. He partially wasnt surprised. Various romantic and sexual orientations were more common now.
Alice felt her entire face turn red and she looked down at her feet, "Kinda? Yeah? Shes super sweet and extremely pretty. Aside from you, she is my best friend. You cant tell her that though, I dont want to ruin our friendship- Got it?" She swatted at the male and he danced away. Chess meowed defiantly in her hood.
"I didnt plan on it! I was just curious." He mused faintly. "I didnt know you swung that way."
"I swing every way, with a bat. So watch out." Alice said and crossed her arms with a pout. "I dont really have a preference, truthfully. If I click with someone, that's great- Ill get to know them."
"Oh, that makes sense." He smiled faintly to her. "Now what about Bakubro? Ive been itching to ask for days now."
Alice groaned softly and ran her hands through her hair, "And I have been dreading it. So first, let me preface that I do not have a crush on every guy who is nice to me. Im not that desperate."
"Okay, Noted."
"I dont know, he's not not attractive? I dont really have a dislike towards him, truthfully. We get a long super well and he can be patient when he wants to. I wouldnt say "no" if he asked me out or anything. I highly doubt Im even his type, so it's not something Im holding my breath about." Alice glanced down at her feet. She highly doubted he even would look at her like that. She still didnt believe that Fumikage liked her. It didnt seem possible. "I dont hold my breath about people liking me. I used to be asked out as a joke. Its not something you come back from easily."
Kirishima stopped walking and stared at her with his mouth slightly open. Did he hear that right? "They asked you out as a Joke?" He managed, a frown instantly appearing on his face.
"Yeah." Alice stopped a few feet away from him, looking back with a sad expression on her face. "Like It was early middle school, so not the end of the world, but thats something that's hard to come back from. Especially when you are labeled as "different." The girl motioned to herself. "A Darkness based hero, who dresses in Gothic-like clothes. You get this... weird reputation. People dont like it and middle schoolers are mean."
Kirishima jogged up to her and grabbed her shoulders, "Dont let anyone tell you that you arent attractive- because you are. Im so sorry that they did that to you." His expression was genuine, broken hearted that his friend was turned into a joke.
"Oh... Riot." Alice gave him a faint smile. "Im healing. I promise, you sweet lovable oaf." She couldnt help the laugh that slipped past her lips. He looked so upset for her. "Its not something that can change over night, but it does happen over time. This entire class, UA in general, has really helped me become a better person."
Kirishima pulled her into a tight hug and the pair headed towards the Agency, ready to fill out paperwork and close out the day.
