Burning. Searing. Scorching. Lakes of lava. Fountains of fire.
The cold rain pelted down from the darkness above. Hard, solid drops, like rocks falling from the heavens. No one with any sense would be out in this battlefield of nature. But perhaps, someone with extra senses would.
The night air was freezing. Cold, harsh. Ripping through her skin like tiny knives. Each drop of rain bruising her skin. But, to her, all there was, was warmth. No, not warmth. Fire. Hot, unforgiving. It burned her skin. It burned her body. It burned her soul. Melted it until there was naught left but liquid. Dripping out of her mind, slowly, but surely. The fire consumed her and she was completely at its mercy.
This was a good night, however. She was alone, hidden in the shadows of the dark alleyway. Yes, the pain was immense, but she could still feel herself inside her own head. Only barely, but to her that small bit of conscience was heaven.
The world hated her, and she liked it that way. People brought pain. There was always pain. Overwhelming. Hate, lust, anger, fear. Hundreds of feelings bombarding her. Relentless. Never ending.
She lived inside her own little world. A house in her mind for her, and her one true friend, only. She just wished people would stop visiting...
"Yo so dumb, man! Ya morn. Ya think ya'd get away wiv that?" A voice.
"I ain't the dumb one, dweeb! It woulda worked if yer weren't so busy sucking on yerself!" Another voice. But she didn't hear them.
"Don't talk like that, man! You know it was you sucking me! We all know you wanna, fagit!"
"Ain't nothing to suck anyway!"
"Whatever, man. Hey, what's that?" They saw her. The small form hunched over, staring blankly into the darkness. The two teens stood over her, grinning from under their shaggy hair. "Looks like this night ain't so bad after all."
The first boy tapped her with his foot. No response. He did it again. She didn't move.
The second boy crouched down and grabbed her jaw roughly with his hand. "Heh, pretty one. Shame about the stink."
"Thought you'd be used to that, by now." The first boy smirked.
"Shut up, or I wont let ya 'ave any fun."
"You're not gonna..." The first boy warned.
"Hell yeah I'm gonna. What? You afraid? Sissy-boy!"
"I ain't afraid! Shove over, man. Let me show you how this is done." The first boy pushed his companion over, and smiled, almost wickedly. "Hmm, ya are a pretty one. Just stay still baby. This wont hurt... too much." Unsheathing a pocketknife, he roughly cut through the front of her t-shirt, drooling at what he found beneath. He reached out, slowly, almost nervously to his intended targets, but was cut short as something large, heaving and wet knocked him to the ground.
"Ahh, gettit offa me! Gettit offa me!" He screamed as the creature tore into his flesh.
"No way, dude! I'm outta here. See yer around!" The second boy got to his feet and ran, tripping on his untied shoelaces until he was out of site.
"Stop it! You're hurtin' me!" Somehow, unknown to the boy, he managed to scramble to his feet and run, all the while screaming like a little girl.
The creature grunted once, before turning back to his friend.
She looked up at him from her almost catatonic state, and smiled, reaching out a hand to touch his head. He moved forward, gladly excepting her contact. She pulled him to her, wrapping her arms around his furry form and closing her eyes. Her best friend was back.
