CHAPTER 9
(MARIO'S P.O.V)
I hung up the phone after leaving the voicemail for Bill, as I sneaked closer to where Bartholomew was stuck to the tree, to discover that the unicorn was free. I immediately did a quick 360 degrees spin around me, not convinced for a second that the unicorn had decided to leave me alone. My surroundings were as quiet as a graveyard. Before I could ponder my next step Bartholomew jumped out on my left, and bit into my left arm. I punched Bartholomew in the face, with my right fist, in retaliation, which forced the unicorn to let go of my arm. Bartholomew bent his head, and sprang forward attempting to stick me with his horn. I managed to jump out of the way, narrowly missed being struck. I needed to think of something fast, because being wounded, and being cornered by an angry unicorn was not how I wanted to go out.
Bartholomew charged at me again, as I was about to take off sprinting, when Bill appeared slamming his body into the unicorn harshly, making it lose its balance. Without a moment to spare, Bill grabbed Bartholomew by its legs, and swung the unicorn around like an Olympian doing the discus throw. Bill then used his vampire abilities, and threw the unicorn all the way across the other side of the lake. The unicorn crash landed into a tree, before hitting the ground completely knocked out. Bill quickly healed me ten minutes later with his blood. "So Lafayette, Tara, and you discovered the unicorn, who then asked for Sookie help?." Bill clarified with me, as we both sauntered back to our home. "Yeah man," I replied.
"The only reason I have the silver dagger was by pure luck, since Charlaine Bellefleur had other plans on using it on me, and Adilyn sounded the alarm." "Stop," Bill commanded, as he suddenly froze.. I turned to the suddenly alarmed Bill, and immediately understood his sudden panic. "It's a trap…" I managed to say. "Once Bartholomew or the faes get the silver dagger, Sookie will be their next target." Bill said in realization, as he took off at vampire speed back to his house, while I sprinted behind.
(SOOKIE'S P.O.V)
"It's been twenty minutes, and still no sign of Bill or Mario," Tara paced worriedly, as I peeped out one of Bill's windows into the quiet night. "I know but-" I began to say, as I paused, spotting my fairy godmother wandering in Mario's driveway. Since this whole mess got started, Claudine has been gone, and now that I finally saw her I needed answers. Without saying a word I sprinted to Bill's front door, and ran out into the warm summer night to Mario's yard. "Claudine!." I called out. "Sookie," Claudine smiled, relieved to see me. "Come with me Sookie. You are in grave danger." Claudine beseeched me with an outstretched left hand gesturing for me to take her hand. "You know I can't," I shook my head. "No matter what, BonTemp will always be my home." "Then die you weak and pathetic half kin." Claudine spat at me angrily, as her hand dropped to her side. Before I could comprehend her words, she blasted me with her fairy light, which sent me flying into Bill's yard. "Leave her alone!," Tara exclaimed angrily,as she helped me to my feet. I stared at Claudine in disbelief. I couldn't believe my own fairy godmother, who stared back at me in pure hate now. "Why?!," I demanded feeling betrayed by my own. "There is no war Sookie," Claudine stated as a couple of fairies appeared behind Claudine. "We used you to acquire the silver dagger, so we can wish that all vampires be eradicated from off the earth, and since you Sookie Stackhouse love them so much you will be eradicated with them."
